It was the judgement. If I had to point to the main reason I left the Church the last time it was the judgement of others deemed to be sinners coupled with some ridiculous rules not based on scripture (movie theaters were dens of sin). But that is all we see now, culture wars. People judging other people. Right wing Christian Evangelicals entire existence revolves around judging anyone they deem a sinner while simultaneously excusing the sins of their leader. Their hypocrisy turns people away from the Cross, away from Christianity and away from Grace.

Anyone can go to church. Anyone can judge but Bible says we are known by the fruit we bear. Church is not a place to be stroked its a place about living for God, tobe instructed how to live our lives. Why do we get so upset when we hear those things? Jesus told it it back in his day, the truth and it made people mad. Wexare to live differently fro. The world. There are churches that will stroke you and just say to love but thats not all there is to serving the Lord. He expects us to come out from among the world and be a separate kind of people but people get mad. We need preachers who will tell the truth and not coddle us. In the end we will appreciate that they preached the word and to us the truth

2 greatest laws upon which all others are based, according to Jesus: 1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. 2. Love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus then went on in the Parable of the Good Samaritan to explain that 'neighbor' means everyone else on this planet. No codicils and He sure didn't mean it as a suggestion.

I really don't like saying it, but I'm not sure that all of his followers are being deceived. Some of them follow him because, at heart, they have just as much hate as he does. Some of them follow him out of desire for power and money. Some people follow for the same reason they follow a certain politician: the world is changing, the country is changing, and they can't handle it. They are afraid of what they don't understand, be it other religions, people with no religion, people of other races, and a whole host of other "others". They are looking for security and protection and they think Locke and his ilk, both religious and political, offer them that protection. They are wiling to pay whatever price is demanded for that protection. These are the people who believe they are "fighting for their freedom", when the only thing that's actually being threatened is their privilege. Some people go along with what he says because other people in their lives are devoted to him and they don't want to rock the boat. This is the group that will stand by while atrocities are committed, because they fear backlash if they speak out. They may not participate, but they will ultimately be held just as responsible as those who commit them. "First they came for the Socialists..."

On "being the real deal"... This channel on KZread is one of my favorites. I agree with almost everything here. Occasionally I'll throw my 2¢'s worth into the dialog. But on other channels that are more staunchly conservative Christian, or atheist, even just scientific, I frequently raise serious objections to the content of the video. Then others respond to my comments and we get a sort of pen-pal thing going back and forth. I'm pretty good at arguing my positions, and it seems to me that when I get one of those responses that is a clear attempt to insult me, rather than take it personally, I see it as a sign that my argument was so good they couldn't combat it, and out of frustration, lash out at me instead. At that point, I figure I've won. I make every effort to ignore the insult (like "I need to learn how to write") in large part, because I am secure in who I am and in my abilities, and in my relationship with our Divine Father-friend. I also avoid snark, or other forms of insult towards others. Admittedly, when email first came along, I was guilty of lashing out at people I couldn't see and disagreed with. A bit later, on one job, I would get requests from my "customers" (folks in QA) that were illogical and had atrocious grammar. And I responded in some inappropriate ways. I got my hand slapped a couple times and I learned not to do that anymore. Oddly enough, those annoying sorts of emails stopped happening, as though it was a test and I had just passed it, thus mastering the lesson. And now the Father is training me on how to model right behavior to my fellows. I attempt to teach, not bully. And for some sort-of insults that are related to something I like, I lean into them, which seems to improve the oratorical dynamic.

I had stage three cancer, massive surgeries and many other things related to this. One minister told me in front of her little group of fools that a ancestor of mine committed a sin , she did say what sin just a sin, as a result God place a curse on my family causing to be born this way. If I prayed to her she would ask God to heal me and return me to being a man. Of course I got a good laugh out of that and walked away. I will never be back nor will any of my family. Im fine with who I am as a human being there is nothing that needs to be fixed. She can take her god and leave us alone.

"Real Christianity" - hardly two groups define this the same anywhere. We have a "human" problem. Anger and hate spewing from angry and hateful people. I don't see Jesus or God intervening against Trumpism or anger and hate or racism, etc.

Locke's book “Revival,” based on his master’s thesis in seminary says; “The most important awakening in church history has begun.” and "The lukewarm American Church will not survive what's coming. The apathy is sickening!!!" So, Locke has taken the FOX News model and applied it to his so called ministry - He's loud and boisterous and he doesn’t use his power for anything other than name-calling and hateful rhetoric. But like FOX News, it works because folks are so lacking leadership and directions from any aspect of society that they will latch onto anything, even the likes of Locke and his partners. However, Locke may have a valid point about the traditional American church's not surviving.

The 'Fox News' model isn't new. It has always been the way of the USAMERICAN and churches. Self-righteousness, bigotry, racism and loudness. The majority has rejected Jesus as being ' woke'. The more you hate and judge the other, the more righteous. Trump is seen as 'the real messiah '.How many in this comment share some of the sentiments of these Christians? How many experience a visceral clutch when the topic of ' the border' is raised, abortion, immigration or, sees a 'pride flag '.

The Book of Revelation criticizes the church in Laodicea for being "neither hot nor cold." I think this is a legitimate criticism of "mainline" Protestantism, but not for the usual reasons. If the "fire and brimstone" brand of Christianity can be called (without loss of generality) "hot Christianity," then what I want to know is where the ice-cold, supercooled, Bose-Einstein Condensate practice of Christianity can be found. I would like to join that community.

The challenge is building trust with people given the bad reputation that pastors such as Greg Locke bring to Christianity . I have a friend who has nearly completed a Masters in Biblical Counseling from Liberty University. He is surprised when he approaches people through social media in a neutral manner on topics such as the LGBTQ+, and he experiences a backlash. Now, I know my friend is liberal minded on these topics , but there is nothing in his public writings (Substack) that reflect this. His writings are very generic, and kind of old mainstream Christian philosophy. As an atheist and a progressive, I find his views very dated, but they’re not offensive. So, if he is approaching an unknown person, all they really see is a student of Liberty University. Given its reputation, I'm not surprised that people don't trust my friend. However, my friend thinks people attacking him are simply filled with anger and hate, and are lashing out for no reason.

if you look at people who have left cults, you will find that the reason is usually that they meet other people who by their behavior and life show that cult is false. the reason behind people leaving "organized religion" all over the world for the past century is that there are not enough communities where true word of God is communicated. those of you in rev. ed's congregation do not know how lucky you are. here, in n. idaho, i have attended pretty much every single church in the area and have sometimes had to leave in less than half hour because of blasphemy preached. most "christians" are the reason for the increasing atheists in our countries. same thing happened in iran when the revolution was hijacked by the islamic clerics. there are more people there who shun islam now than ever. as long as we do not follow the teachings ourselves, we will not be successful in being a servant of God.
