Wow that’s abundant of fish and corals. The local govt should protect this beautiful sanctuary.

Truth: Many shore reefs/cirals are broken or destroyed by tourists who walk and step on them OR if in deeper waters, caused by fishermen dynamit fishing, although that is highky illegal now. It takes years for coral to grow so its best to have reef sanctuaries.

Panglao and Pamilacan islands in Bohol and Mantigue island in Camiguin have fantastic reefs. You don't need to scubadive to see them.

No, not in Sumilon, not in Cebu; stop your nonsense. Ridiculous. Dynamite fishing? I doubt it. That area is a sanctuary and highly protected, and the island is privately owned by Blue Water Resort. Some corals were destroyed in the area due to the super typhoon Odette in December 2021.

I remember your first snorkeling videos and thought it was beautiful - but these are even better! - Dang, it's beautiful!

Hi the guides are probably there to protect the corals and you of course. Sumilon is a marine sanctuary. I used to go there before and saw the healthy corals and have seen how they have deteriorated, haven't been there recently and hopefully measures have been done to protect it. In some cases marine sactuaries are closed off to tourism to let the area heal.

That is kind of a bummer that they have those rule but you can take of those vest once you're in the water it seems but great shots of underwater vivid colors came out of your cam equipment.

FYI, guys Sumilon island is a private island owned by Blue Water resort, you can still visit Sumilon island for a minimal fee on an island tour or join a group island tour. Although it's a private island, tourists are allowed to visit and spend time enjoying the popular surreal white sandbar, swimming, snorkeling, diving, but wandering on the island is limited or prohibited unless you book and stay in their beautiful resort. Snorkeling is recommended. Sumilon Island is a sanctuary for marine life in Oslob, Cebu. Here, you will find underwater species in their natural habitat, including blacktip sharks. The dive sites here are bursting with corals and tropical underwater species.
