The downshift protection makes sense. Only sim racers downshift at the same time as they press the brake pedal, it's extremely rare to see real drivers to that (I'd say most do this by mistake or in very rare and specific occasions). Real drivers press the brake, then usually wait around 0.5 to 1 second to downshift. There are sim racers who abuse this and will over-over-super-rev their engines while braking, because it's rare for a game to model engine damage due to overrevving. Only beamNG does it. Real damage can range from broken crankshaft, leading to destruction of the engine block, connecting rods, pistons and all other rotating or reciprocating parts..to relatively minor damage to valve stems, cam followers, timing gears of chains... it's just not realistic to overrev while braking. Sure, the engine helps a bit, but the overwhelming majority of the real braking is done..... well, by the brakes ;-) EDIT: Seeing how you're braking and downshifting, I'd say that's extremely close to reality. Job well done by S397.

RaceRoom..hurts yr engine when down shifting to hard..I think some cars in ACC do as well more gt4 cars

@@berarma Only if you REALLY go overboard. Watch the aliens, they're *always* overrevving the engine while braking.

@Hoang Hoang Can you point me to a specific time where you think the driver did it? Because I watched the video and he does it exactly how I said real drivers do, they press the brakes then wait 0.5-1s and then downshift.

Cars look great, Jardier. I think this will be a popular category, especially when the other manufacturers' cars get added. Nice to have some BTCC since TOCA Race Driver :)

Thank you for the video Jardier, Those curbs are pretty unforgiving lol. Yeah I wish the RPM's were a little higher on the downshift protection too. I've always used my downshift to start my slowdown and I find myself trying two or three times before it sticks lol. Going to have to reprogram my brain to a new engine sound for shifting lol.

Damn... got to admit Nordschleife in rFactor2 and Automobilista2 is beautifully modeled. Especially all the surroundings of the track, all the barriers, trees, spectators. Beautiful. Btw. I'm still waiting and hoping for 90's BTCC cars in any sim... a4, mondeo and all the others... ;)

I got AMS 2 today and wow... the nordschleife is so detailed and a lot of fun even with a G29. not RF2 quality FFB but felt even more violent. Competition sure breeds excellense.

I dont like RF2, and I dont love BTCC....but I think I would like watching anything you like doing, your upbeat personality is infectious

Day night on Donington is glorious too. Think it's the trees and elevation changes that make those two tracks magical as the sun comes up.

The infinity is twitchy but it's fun to drive especially on the ring, love the vids man👍

Im using very old round rim from fanatec that sadly cant use full torque on my wheel so im using very high FFB for the video :D I would love to get CLUBSPORT STEERING WHEEL R300 V2 from Fanatec if possible for rally/touring cars

You really should try racing in cloudy weather on this track, looks better than with sunny weather. ;)

Correction : Nordschleife in Rfactor 2 IS the best you have seen in sim racing. You're welcome :D

Hi Jardier, thank you for your videos and advice, very useful for a beginner. I would like you to enlighten me, I am building a pc: I have an AMD RYSEN 5 5600X processor, an MSI X570 A pro motherboard and 8g of memory (Ssd disk 500go). I don't play in 4K, I play on a tv. What graphics card do you recommend for me to have beautiful graphics (preferably full), as I don't have a big budget I wouldn't want to make a mistake? Thank you

How does it compare to Nordschlieife on the original AC? I have done quite a lot on RF2 but with the BTCC honda. But for the buzz, its always AC with the 911 RSR.

in my opinion, it's superior to AC. The road mesh is just amazing, I believe the most up to date road mesh as well (please, correct me if I'm wrong), not 100% up to date as there has been some resurfacing in the past few years, but for the majority it is very very good, it really feels very authentic. Kerbs are great too. Looks pretty good as well, not a thing of beauty, but I think more than enough for a racing sim. But regardless of what's one's opinion on how it compares, rF2 version does the Nordschleife justice that's for sure. I have so many laps on it, and it's just stupid fun.

@@DonatProdanSimRacing I have only been on PC since February but did most of lockdown on PS4 and nordschliefe on AC and loved it. Since I got the PC though I have mostly been on ACC and RF2 but always find myself going back to ACC very quickly. Perhaps I should give RF2 a bit more of a try.

"cold tires, cold tires" -bad driver excuse.

Those of you wanting to hotlap Nordschleife without doing a full out lap, do a race instead of practice with zero Ai and fast rolling start.

No sim has the road mesh AND the FFB feel like rFactor 2. It can be a pain to live with - a bit like being married - but man, the driving feel is unparalleled and... in VR it's otherworldly. I frequently wonder why my hand did not move off the wheel, to then realise that those are not my arms, such is the state of immersion reached.
