How Can a Small Hiatal Hernia Cause a lot of Pain?

Hiatal Hernias are interesting in that larger hernias don't necessarily cause more intense symptoms. Factually, small hernias can still cause misery with everything from shortness of breath, acid reflux, heart palpitations, panic attacks and more.
In this video I explain why a small hiatal hernia can result in miserable symptoms.
The good news is that you don't need to continue suffering.

    Started off with panic attack/anxiety in 2020. Couple weeks later had a severe attack again, went for endoscopy, diagnosed with hiatal hernia, gastritis and grade A esophagitis. Change my lifestyle. Had better days but along the way, my hiatal hernia got severe. Had to change my eating habit. I recovered 40%. Then it had severe shoulder, mid back and ribs pain. Diagnosed with middle upper right curve scoliosis. My whole life turn again. No one can say what was the root cause off all this. Which comes the first triggers points. Too have all this is really a long long journey to recovery.

    Hello ! I have been following and watching your videos for about two days and almost watched all videos about hiatal hernia in its playlist . I have been suffering about 5 years ago from a vary of unexplained annoying symptoms when I was doing abdominal exercises at home for 3 weeks and in someday I finished my exercises and went to bed then suddenly I felt like I can't take my breathe deeply ( I wasn't complaining from anything before ) , I felt my pulse was weak and felt dizziness , I went to bathroom twice at that night , I felt numbness in all my body including my face muscles and from then I suffer from a vary of unexplained symptoms like : Permenant shortness of breath , Insomnia , frequently skipped heart beats , heart palpitations , I was suffering from acid reflux but cured it with apple cider vinegar successfully , bloating at the upper left side even after drinking some water , constipation , diarrhea sometimes , mitral valve prolapse and cardiologists told me that it's trivial and can't do all these symptoms , I've done all important tests and scans and they all were normal nothing was found that can cause all these symptoms , my life style had effected a lot negatively with these symptoms so could a sub-clinical hiatal hernia be developed because of these abdominal exercises ? How can I contact you ?

    I can't get any help. They just keep doing endoscopies and blowing up my esophagus. Then it just comes back again and they want to blow up my esophagus again instead of getting to the root of the problem ( for those that don't understand what I mean by blowing up my esophagus, they put a balloon down there and inflate it which increases the circumference I guess of the esophagus because all of the stomach acid is calling causing a stricture in there from scar tissue. So their idea of fixing it is just make the esophagus wider it isn't working and it doesn't help anything

  • @DrVikkiPetersen

    @DrVikkiPetersen

    The treatment is internal as well as physical. It differs for each patient but typically balancing the GI tract is key along with hormonal balance and then yes, as you mentioned, some special physical maneuvers (exercises come later) for our patients. Laboratory tests, diet and lifestyle changes are also part of the program. An endoscopy (scope) isn't always needed, it depends on the patient's history. We are a medical clinic and do testing as needed. I hope that answers it for you. Each patient receives an individualized program. If you'd like assistance please consider reaching out for a consultation. You can call us at 727-335-0400. We have a high success rate and would be delighted to help.

    I’m suffering big time. In severe pain and can’t sleep from choking. Wake up severely congested. Was told mine was 2-3 cm. Had to have esophagus stretched also. I’m having to literally rip my bra off often from severe pain and swelling. Getting no sleep and am constantly weak and exhausted. I can’t bend over because it causes severe pain like something is ripping. I scoot on my butt to wash my floors. I was a CNA for 12 years doing heavy lifting and currently have an elderly 65 pound dog with severe arthritis that needs to be lifted several times a day. Anxiety and depression are getting worse especially with no sleep. Dr sounded like it was no big deal but there’s something awful wrong. Of course on omeprozole, sucrafate, famodadine, dycyclomime…etc….everything spelt wrong, sorry.
