    About 18 years ago I was standing on the outside wall of our house waiting for my sister to finish washing the garage, but suddenly I find myself in the car with my mother and brother crying and going to the hospital, then I found myself on the hospital bed and the doctor was examining the x-rays in front of me, but the strange thing is, I do not remember how I fell from the wall… At the moment I have a slight forgetfulness in the temporary memory and retrograde amnesia.Sometimes I forget names of some actors I don't know well and sometimes I forget things I want to do. I think this is normal because I excel in my studies.I am a pharmacist and game designer I'm good at English even though I'm Arabic and the permanent memory is good, thank God, but this thing stuck in my mind until now.

    Several years ago when i still at junior high school, I once have brain damage when i was going to school from home after stepping down stairs and then skip the Last stair but i forgot that mom is mopping the floor in the first floor. When my feet landed on the floor after skipping the last stairs, my feet immediately slipped and I fell with the back of my head landing first. At first Its hurt but its only temporarly for couple minute then i go to school after that as usual and i feel nothing in school and i go back home as usual at the end, but the next Day i had seizure in the morning and when i wake up the back of my head is very painful, I lose some of my memory and its very painful if i forcefully to think and remember what i forgot was, I go to hospital with my family and didnt go to school for 3 month after that accident. For MMA fighters, probability-wise, for every 10-ish matches, they will have about 3 traumatic head injuries due to KO, TKO, Blows to the head, etc.... Boxing on the other hand is much the same as the MMA (many more blows to the head). However, the frequency of TBIs in boxing is slightly decreasing, as participation shifted more to olympics-style boxing and less overall boxing time (5 rounds instead of 8 or 10, 2.5 min rounds instead of 3; you get the idea) I'm studying sport related injuries in college for my statistics class. We're in for a sports safety revolution pretty soon here. I believ just like every other martials arts beginners go thru a routine of learning tolerate pain and training to withstand injuries from mild impact to extreme impact punches and kicks, just like we train to develop calcium deposit on the tip of fingers to have bullet proof fingers... I don't know what happens inside the head to withstand impacts... But still there is limit to the impact to what we can withstand but it's more than what an average human being can... Born equal trained to be different... After all everyone is a human being ..... I do believe if I get a blow with a base ball bat or a an iron punch to my head... I'm knocked out....🤕

    @ttttol , the effects of CTE are found in sub-concussive head impacts, such as in soccer, so I would guess "sports" where the goal is to pummel another person would be as dangerous or moreso. I've had a concussion twice and these two times it felt quite different. The first time I actually was pretty conscious and well for like 15 minutes, then I felt extremely cold and eventually blacked out. I wasn't able to recall events from shortly before passing out, while the second time I was able to remember everything, even though I blacked out immediately, so my guess is that a different region of the brain was affected. It's been diagnosed that my motor nerve has been damaged, and since then I'm having problems maintaining my balance when subject to an external stimulus. That is, for example, when I'm a passenger in a car and the driver accelerates or brakes in a fast manner, I bob my head like crazy, I just can't help it. It's even worse when I'm taking a bus or a tram. Interestingly, when I'm driving by myself and therefore have control of my movement, this issue does not occur. As for the personality, I'd say it stayed the same, though obviously it's hard to be objective here. Anyway, no one has yet said I changed since then, so I assume I've been spared at least that. Excellent video and channel in general, thank you!

    Got into a crash two years ago it took a day for the secondary injury to hit and good God I felt like shit. I rolled my car off a cliff and nearly got impaled by some fence posts but survived. I was wearing my seat belt but it wound up hanging me so I had to take it off. I've recovered a bit still suffering with long term back issues but on meds to foster brain growth. It definitely is not a fun experience.

    I had a brain injury 15 years ago when I bumped a bookshelf and something very heavy fell off the top and smashed me in the head. I was a teenager at the time and my mom didnt bother to take me to the hospital to be checked out. So we didnt know about the brain injury until later when I was having alot of problems and got a CAT scan an evidence of the injury was still there. Doctors said I either had a tiny stroke or more likely a minor enough brain bleed that it caused damage but was able to heal itself. I went from having a photographic memory to my short term memory being completely shot. I get headaches all the time on only 1 side of my head right where the injury was. Its really hit or miss if I remember anything and I can forget something almost immediately after being told about it. I also have alot of muscle tics and did have a pretty bad seizure issue but that wasn't diagnosed until 8 years later because i didnt know there were different kinds of seizures and dint bother to report it and over time the seizures became less and less and less until today where I haven't had a seizure in nearly 2 years. The worst part though is that my brain seems to freeze randomly. The best way I can describe it is that my brain blue screens like a computer and I can feel my short term memory just melting away and I forget everything in that moment. I dont know where I am, what I was doing, what i was saying. Usually I can get most of that info back within a few moments but its freaky and is the leading cause of why I cant drive because the last thing I need is for that to happen while im behind the wheel.

    I once banged my head 3 times against a wall with all my strength as an attempt of suicide, its safe to say i no longer think like that but at that moment I banged my head so hard I got dizzy. After some years I noticed one eye got more blind than the other, I forget things easily sometimes, and I cant recognize who a person is from far, even if they clearly look like I know them, it's just like, you clearly see them, but you dont recognize them, when you get closer THEN you know who they are, I dont know how to explain it. Take care of your children, they are important, don't marry thots with 3 other kids, marry a good wife, don't use your kids give them a break, for a reason they are called kids, they are growing, and they need rest, love, and healthy food...

    I can't wait to see how much brain trauma I have. I've hit my head or been hit the head so many times, it scares me. I mean, a concussion once in my life would have me somewhat worried. I've had many concussions, not to mention subconcussive hits I've taken. 🤦🏽‍♂️ I was fishing with my father in law and my son fairlu recently. I had bought my kid a lure prior to this trip, then I proceeded to lose it. so, i made sure to replace it before this trip. I suggested that he try out and he said he would rather I try it, since he wanted to try another new lure. I was more than happy to do that, so I start fishing and what happens? I get the same lure snagged again! 🤦🏽‍♂️ I felt so dumb and bad for my son.... and it was a poor cast on my part, so it was snagged on land... all I wanted was to get that lure back. I've jumped from the bow of a boat to various surfaces (sand beaches, docks, rock shelves, other boats) that jumping from the boat to the shore... 🤷🏽‍♂️ ...it was so easy, to me, it seemed dumb *not* to make that jump. I didn't consider, however, that I have fished in boats many times but never with a former cop. Why is that pertinent? ....because he had water resuce training and it was done with the goal of pulling people out of a swift moving river. we were on a reservoir, so it wasn't a fast moving body of water. I had always jumped from a boat by standing at the bow while they give it a bit of throttle. When the boat is closing in to my ideal jumping distance, I say "ok"....and the driver puts the boat in *neutral,* letting inertia move the boat. Once I make the jump, I say "clear" and the driver puts the boat into reverse to keep from hitting the rocks. I figured this would be the same. We closed in on the shore and I said "ok", expecting to hear the engine moved to neutral and the boat to slow down. .....he was trained for emergencies. So, his training was to drive up to the intended jump site, giving the boat throttle. When the team member making the jump feels like the boat is close enough to make his jump, *they make the jump.* _After_ the team member has already jumped and is on the shore or struggling boat or whatever, they say "ok".... The driver then puts the boat into *reverse* so the fast moving water doesn't push the boat into object the other team member just jumped on. This ....wasn't communicated between us beforehand.... So, imagine my shock when I said "ok", hear the engine stop as expected....see the window of opportunity for jumping getting close...and right as I make the jump, I hear the engine being given throttle and I feel the boat being pulled from under my foot. 😮 This specific fishing place doesn't have shores. it has high, vertical basalt cliffs with small shelves that are about 6 feet wide. The shelf is above the water but, where it ends....its another cliff. If you were to step off of the exposed part of the shelf, you would go from being about an inch above the water to being in 100 feet of water. It's just a straight basalt drop off. When I jumped, Intook a header off the bow of a boat and onto basalt. I knew the risk: if you were to make that jump, miss and get KOd by hitting your head, you would be unconscious and would roll into 100 ft of water. I didnt have a life jacket, so I made the situation a potentially deadly one.🤦🏽‍♂️ When I hit, i hit right on my right temple. I didn't lose consciousness (I never have, actually) and I remember knowing (no time to think) that if I were to pass out, me sinking into the dark water would be the last time my son saw his dad. As i hit, I felt right away something horrifying: from my thighs down were underwater and there was *no rock* below me! In desperation, I climbed futher onto the dry part of the shelf. I was so scared, I was unaware that I was using everything I had to pull myself out of the water, including my head. I stood up as soon a I was ok the shelf, grabbed my head (to assess the damage and to hit it from my son)....but all I felt was a huge bulge, like my skull had busted and brains were coming out (that's what I thought for a bit). I tried to get calm and slow my heart rate.... but then I started to lose my vision. It wasn't from head trauma....it was because so much blood was leaking from my face that I couldn't wipe it off fast enough. The scariest part, for me, was when had my father in law look at my injuries. when you ask a former cop (the man has not only been shot, but he has shot others and has seen some horrific accidents. Seeing someone take their last breathe after an accident was part if of his job) who is also family "how bad is it?".....the last thing you want to get as a response from a former first responder is stunned silence and a look on their face that makes *you* worried that they might pass out. After I got cleaned up, I know I had a concussion. I calculated, mentally, the time it would take to even get to any medical help and (considering the condition I was in, I probably shouldn't have been the one to make this call but) I decided I'd rather risk dying while fishing than cut the trip short. I was doing OK for about an hour, then I needed to sit and just be for a bit. I was watching the sky and feeling the boat rocking softly in the waves....then, suddenly, I felt like the boat was completely still and the sky was what was rocking. That was when I said "we should head home now". 😂 so, we did the right thing and headed directly.....to a fast food place, had dinner, went home and I just slept it off. I went to the ER the next day and they said that me not dying on my sleep basically cleared me, medically...and sent me home. Sorry for the book length story ( I'm not really sorry, I'm just being polite). Sadly for me: it's only one of the many times I've had a situation like that. it's not even the most recent. I'm scared to see what old age has in store for me.

    What about Brain injuries due to asphyxiation? What are the differences? If any?

  • @KEVIN18122

    @KEVIN18122

    4 жыл бұрын

    Brain injuries related to asphyxiation tend to be more diffused as their cause is a general lack of oxygen as opposed to the cascade of events occurring in trauma. Anoxia secondary to asphyxiation is usually referred to as global ischemia. Patients with this condition tend not to survive and are the ones who are referred to as brain dead on an EEG.
