How big is the Sun? Solar eclipse can help!

Uncover the universe's mathematical secrets with a solar eclipse. The perfect alignment of the Sun, the Moon, and Earth during an eclipse helps us estimate the size of the Sun. Watch as we use the simple math of similar triangles and basic geometry to calculate the Sun's radius.

Then how did they calculate the raduis of the moon therefore getting the sun’s radius doesn’t it just cause circular reasoning?

Wow never thought that way But I have a question To measure distance between earth and moon, scientists shoot lasers which reflects back and time is recorded, then by simple maths distance is found. But sun don't have any reflective surface,so by this method of reflection a satellite has to go till sun and then it would send laser beam to earth and distance would be found. But how did indian scientists back in 16-17 century found the exact distance between sun and earth. I know the comment is long but if you can reply then please 😅😊

Basically no satellite can never touch the outer layer of the sun. So basically in the ancient time the Indians used to be very good at math and astronomy so they found a way to somehow calculate the radius of the Sun and most shocking thing it is almost the same that we measure with advance equipments.
