How Betsy Wentz Designed This Home Around an Art Collection | Home Tour | HB

"It was kind of a snowball effect," says designer Betsy Wentz of the 1900s Victorian farmhouse she just completed in her hometown near Pittsburgh. The historic home was in a bit of a sad state when the clients first hired Wentz, founder of Studio B Interior Design: "The home had not been done in a very long time and there was a leaking dishwasher which led to a kitchen renovation, which led to an entire first floor redo," she explains.
The one thing that was in great shape? The client's art collection. So, Wentz set about creating a space that would act as a suitable backdrop. But if you think that means white walls and bright lighting, think again: Instead, Wentz pulled color palettes from the art and coordinated them with patterns, making for a rich, layered interior-all in just a few months. I have been watching house tours for YEARS and this is by FAR my favorite !
I love how this house looks light and airy enough to get ready for a BBQ get together during summer, yet looks cosy enough for a night inside on a dark and stormy winter's night ❤️
Love the draperies. I’m so tired of the boring gray and white boxes. Love the color and prints.
First thing wrong is that you are sitting on their sofa with your shoes on their sofa. Do that on your own furniture. That tacky.

I won’t even allow shoes past the entrance of my home, I nearly passed out when I saw her sat there with shoed feet on the sofa. Come on now girl🤷🏽♀️

Worry about your own house. It is none of your business to be upset on behalf of the owners of that house.
Betsy Wentz, you really make the art work a piece of art! Wow! I am not a wall paper person, but you convinced me … always thought the paper would date the house and the fresh look in the walls would be for ever gone; however, the way you use it makes total sense and makes it timeless. Great job!! 🥰
STUNNING, really beautiful.
great job. very beautiful. thanks for this.
Absolutely gorgeous home. The designer is really talented. I did notice the feet on the couch though...I’m sure the owners didn’t mind.
I looked how you designed and worked with the art . I collect art and it's refreshing to see the use of fabrics and other elements of design used to enhance the decor of the home based on the art👍🥂
Can you tell me what’s the fabrics on curatains for the living room? With the sectional couch? Thank you great house!
Pretty, light and airy.

The wallpaper in the hallway and stairs would drive me absolutely nuts. It is far too busy. For large expensive area

The family probably enters the home from the rear of the property and only uses the front entry as an occasional pass-through. It wouldn't work in smaller home or with lower ceilings. The extra height and amount of light coming in tones it down in a way that would be difficult if it was a one story, 8 ft ceiling space.
Jesus will return. Turn away from your ways and to Him to be saved.
