Part of the audience is ppl that think anti consumerism is cool because that's definitely a trend rn amongst young ppl. Ppl who still want to be senseless consumers themselves but want to know which items to avoid buying so that they CANT be called out and shamed for being senseless consumeristic sheeps. Instead they want to be told which products are the good ones and make them a good person for buying so they can still engage in consumeristic capitalism without feeling bad about themselves. This is definitely not everyone who watches tho but I would guess most ppl buying the future proof stickers might fall in that category. The sticker is purely a virtue signal that you have to pay 5 dollar per sticker, the irony...

I think theres another reason people like bass pro so much these days. There is no pretention to the brand whatsoever. Me and my gf are both pretty outdoorsy. We love hiking, camping, floating, and I love fishing and hunting. When it comes to outdoor brands there can be a big pretentious vibe to the people who wear it, especially with the big brands like Patagonia, north face, mountain hardware, arteryx, ect. We love bass pro so much because we can still get the clothing and gear we need for a fraction of the price and we don't feel lumped in with alot of people who wear all of these expensive brands that have almost become luxery brands at this point. We live in a very outdoorsy college town and those brands become very trendy where we live. Buying bass pro brands kind of makes us feel like normal people and we save money by not buying the big outdoorsy brands. We wear some of that stuff but the stuff we do wear from those brands we've had for a long time and we rarely buy new stuff them. We've also stayed at the bass pro pyramid and it's awesome

In my experience, Bass Pro has more USA-made products than REI. You would think a company that virtu signals about being a co-op would want its products made in a more ethical country. Also, @MS-sr6mj, most hats come with logos, that style of hat is specifically made to have a logo. Unless you are anti-hat this is a silly question.

@@woodchuck003 I live a blissful life, overflowing with ignorant knowledge of steaks, especially of the non-prime-cut variety. I am a connoisseur of steakery and of all fine, red meats. I consistently order my steaks plain so that I may savor the restaurant's choice of table ketchups. One simply needs to ask their waiter for the variety of tomato-based condiments from their "hidden menu". Every fine steak establishment worth their salt has one. But hear this: one must ask for the "hidden menu" thrice---not once---not even twice. It's an ancient tradition among steakeries. Below I shall include the universal code of menu-ordering conduct. It goes something like this: Three is a magic number Yes it is, it's a magic number Somewhere in that ancient mystic trinity You get three as a magic number The past, and the present, and the future Faith, and hope, and charity The heart, and the brain, and the body Give you three as a magic number Little-known steak fact: If you poke a cow many times with an ice pick before slaughter it's meat will be pre-tenderized and juicy on one's palette.

I miss the days of Cabela's before it merged with Bass Pro. Cabela's started in Sidney, Nebraska, my home state. Prices were competitive, people loved the credit card program. To me, the thing that was done best, but was lost in the merger was the customer service call center out of Sidney. They were super helpful, and very friendly. Bass Pro got rid of that call center and customer service sucks! Also, Cabela's used to have a room in the back of the stores called the bargain cave, where they would collect all items that were at a higher discount than the normal sales they ran. It was awesome, but it seems that has all changed. I don't think Bass Pros improved Cabela's, instead, they ruined all of the friendliness you would experience if you traveled to Nebraska in the sake of searching for more money. Since then, I primarily shop at Scheels which is an employee owned private business.

For example, the newest iteration of "indie sleaze" music is a lot about rural america and how it's cool (whereas before it was moving out to big cities and partying). Especially with WFH or remote work increasing (or even less jobs in more metro areas and being forced to move back with your parents or an area that is more affordable to you) I think we will see this trend continue, even if it's roots are in irony.

She likes her job and gets tons of perks, including free/discounted entry to several other properties and a discount of course at bass pro. And it is nice, but when I went to visit her and everything we did was connected to Morris in some way, I couldn't help but start getting some real dystopian vibes. Especially with how much my sister gushed about how great Morris is. Dont get me wrong, employees at his properties have some great perks and benefits. I watch a lot of non-U.S. content and any family that has an inkling of interest in the outdoors salivate at the dream of coming to the U.S. and visiting a Bass Pro shop, many have. I think you underestimate how many outdoorsmen are in need the products they sell and the selection they offer. Note things like outdoor wear and products are often made with sturdier, higher quality materials because it is actually going to get used in rough conditions. You want a tough, rugged piece of clothing or any outdoor product, BPS would be a good place to start.

9:50 While it doesn't look that way on the surface, Bass Pro and Cabela's (formerly separate companies, Bass Pro bought Cabela's a couple years back) both sponsor and donate heavily to various conservation and environmental protection groups. Outdoorsmen, hunters, and fishermen (the ones that aren't pricks) are all actually some of the most devout and passionate environmentalists out there. You can't enjoy the wilderness if there isn't any left, you know?

Honestly, I am of the opinion that niches are having it harder the longer time goes on. The world becomes ever more connected, societies, groups and cultures get flung far and wide and mix together faster than ever before, and the same mindset that makes things like the cap appear on the heads of people that are essentially not related to the ideas, values and so on the product stands for will come for your particular niche sooner or later. And it will perhaps feel a bit like random people enter your house without permission, dancing on your kitchen table naked and then leaving through a giant hole in the wall of your bedroom they made that can never truly be fixed.

I’m going to be in Missouri for the eclipse, and then plan to spend the night boondocking in the Memphis Bass Pro Shop parking lot on my way home. It’s a neat building, the glass deck at the top has phenomenal views, there is some vegan food in the restaurant, and I find the steampunk fish sculptures fascinating, and the duck decoys in the museum are truly works of art. I never took note of the hats…

How can you mention the bass pro shop pyramid, and not bring up the fact that they didn’t actually build this thing, but instead took over this location in the city of Memphis had no idea what to do with it anymore. The history of that pyramid is actually pretty interesting, and when I was a kid I went and visited when it was set up as a titanic museum. I believe this was just a temporary set up and was around the same time as the movie Titanic coming out. Long story short, that whole building has been a whole bunch of different things and bass pro shop very likely got it on cheap so they could put a giant store inside of it.

I come from a demo that wears a lot of brands/products for style over functionality or to be representative of said brand. So to add to the fashion convo in the beginning, there had been a surge in the trucker hat trend within the last 4-5 years. Von Dutch had a moment within this same period after a minor resurgence around 2016. You can find an assortment of trucker hats in Urban Outfitters right now, as well as beer company and nature themed snapbacks. Pharrell Williams iconic N.E.R.D. trucker hat from the early 2000s also made a resurgence.

Used to work for them for almost three years. Their club card program wasn't fun. Let's say you sold a customer a BBQ that was hundreds of dollars like I have, that doesn't matter at all if you don't get a referral for the club card. Management was horrible, wages were still low compared to fast-food workers which is about $20 an hour. I refuse to spend my hard-earned money there and never will. The outdoor foundation is essentially their way of getting a giant tax write-off. The only benefit of working for them is that you get a ham every Christmas, a few gift cards on the founder's birthday, and your vacation got paid out when you left.

Stopping at a Bass Pro Shop was planned for the last day and I was made fun of because I didn’t know what it even was, because I was a New York Yankee transplanted to North Louisiana, where Friday football game pep rallies at school were often camo dress up days where classmates would blow their duck calls.
