Once I got 27 kills once when I decided to switch from br 5.7 to 1.3 on the Soviet Tech tree. I chose a good position where I was relatively safe, and where I oversaw the main route to the capture point.

I’m a German main and I hated the tiger when I got it a few years ago, I decided to go back to it for a few games after you uploaded the tiger problem vid. I can confirm it is a good tank in up tiers and pretty op in down tiers.

unskilled_ tiger 1 is as big as the factory that it was made in which makes it a large target for a p47. But usually we just go for the first target we see because if you play the jug in arb you’ll know all about it’s low altitude and speed maneuverability

@@The_Crimson_Fucker I used to main soviet aircraft tree, so I got used to operating at 300-340 km/h or slower when lining up bomb drops and jug, being a heavy muscle car with wings, wants to go faster to be maneuverable. It's a matter of personal preference, I guess, but with F6F I managed to win dogfights with overconfident P-39s thanks to magical landing flaps and powerful engine.

something I always remember when facing tigers frontally is that there is a convenient ammo rack you can hit by penning the frontal plate. feels so good to one shot a tiger like that.

@@andrewgause6971 prolly cause that "butt-load and a half of frontal armour" historically could stop the guns it went up against with minimal angling, so the ammo was perfectly fine there. But that's not ok with WT's commie overlords so now it fights late WW2 tanks and early-mid cold war tanks. Gotta love that especially on night maps oh boy is not being able to see fun while the enemy have nv or thermals.

@@illyrian44 Yeah, that doesn't seem all that bad, except for two things, Wittmann was an experienced tanker, and Tiger tanks are very rare, especially on the western front. Those are two things that late war Germany can't replace, unlike the allies. P.S, war IRL isn't like a game of CoD (or to be on topic: WT). A high kill count means nothing in the grand scheme of things

@@ArxInvicta most American tankers didn't die. Most of those tanks knocked out probably had crews that had survived multiple other tanks being knocked out. The benefit of high production numbers.

Finally unlocked and purchased a decent loadout of 5.3 and was able to play my Tiger at long last. It's great as hell, you just gotta understand the tanks strengths and weaknesses as with all tanks and vehicles.

It's basically a medium tank with a really accurate and powerful gun, and superb camoflage choices. If more players didn't put so much confidence in its armor and put more effort into positioning, they'd do better in it.

Something I always wish CC's would harp on more when they make videos like this is map knowledge. I feel like 90 percent of being good at WT is knowing common map flow at your br range, knowing where to avoid going, and knowing the effective fighting angles of the spots you choose to set up in.

@@remove_marko Erm... Yes, it is? Better muzzle velocity, more penetration on all ranges and all angles. Maybe it doesn't have overkill amounts of explosive mass but what it does have is enough. The first shot disables the enemy tank, the second kills it (if you were somehow incapable of killing it in one shot, which is on you).

@@robertharris6092 yeah dude, jumbo is what i fear but i never meet this tank while playing tiger h1, only m4a1 or something and king tiger, thanks for the br compression gaijin. i play more arcade because i make sl faster, which is perfect because i get broke once after every 3 games, but, in realistic battles i make like 7k sl if i only kill one and win, i feel like i survive more in realistic tho, when i finish upgrading tiger E i will play more of the realistic battles. Also why Tiger E has a leap of 3k sl repair costs from Tiger H1?, i mean he pretty much has a RB multiplier in arcade and in RB it only increases 0.1x which is insignificant. Welp looks like i found out the hard way that more multiplier = more repair costs.

me shooting a jumbo: round gets eaten by track, doesn't even make it through the bogey wheel. someone shooting my jumbo: round goes through track, 2 bogeys, the side armor, the ammo rack, and THEN detonates.

The Tiger isn’t bad but there’s not much of a reason to play it when the Panthers are basically just straight better.

Tbh the best tip is to learn weakpoints on enemy tanks. Doesnt rlly matter what tou play with. Youll know where to shoot as soon as u identify the tank

i would love to see a full match analysis of a game you played, like gameplay + after commentary this would gave a lot of player (like myself) a under standing of how you play and how to improve

As someone who mains both Germany and America, I have to say that the Tiger performs well even in full uptiers (up to 6.7). If you know where to aim, and don’t play like “Ze Tiger was the best tank of the war! I’m invincible!”, you’ll be a great asset to your team.

As someone who has spent most of my time at Germany 5.7 it baffles me anybody could say the Tiger is bad but then I switch countries and face other people in Tigers and suddenly I'm not so surprised they think it's bad.

As someone who plays Germany and the USSR, I use the Panther and Panzer IV/70 as Germany since they have far better survivability and are able to withstand more guns. One thing I've noticed when playing as the USSR or US is that German Big Cat players have abysmal situational awareness, so it's pretty easy to kill them.

Comet 1 is a bit squishy, but MAN it got a nice canon and round! a fairly fast shot with 220 mm pen, it might not be a one shot kill, but you can cribble them very easy.

That funny moment when some variant of the Sherman, the so called "death trap" had an equal or even higher BR than some Tiger and Panther

That fact about angling your Tiger is extremely accurate. A lot of players keep complaining that angling doesn't work, and I have to explain to them that it alone isn't enough. Angling is best done at range and versus a single enemy. If you're facing multiple enemies from different angles and you're at close range, angling isn't going to get you far. This in combination with the Tiger's subpar mobility makes it very challenging to play compared to something like a Panther. I've long since believed that the nitty-gritty details that you need to learn to excel in a Tiger can only be realised after you play it extensively. Sadly, not everybody has the time or patience to do so.

Sure staying back and camping so you fight at range and usually 1 at a time is good for KDR, but then you aren't helping take caps and your game loss rate will go up.

I moved over to PC from console, and was indeed one of those fan boys who was crazy to own a tiger tank. I never reached it on console, but got it a few days ago on PC. Using it at the very beginning with my dumb brain, I expected it to curb stop way too hard and was quickly swatted back to the hanger. I used to watch your videos back then, but forgot most of the information and was even prone to the original tiger problem with attacking a Jumbo. I can say comfortably now that I preform much better, and appreciate the tank much more with a better understanding of what I can properly active with it, and I have you and even parts of the community to thank. Sorry for the rambling, but thank you and I love your content.

Pro tip: To avoid frustration, do not play this game. I quit this game before they added helicopters and my mental health skyrocketed up. Even as a well above average player this game is pure suffering.

When I played, I complained constantly about how bad the Tiger was. However, looking back, it was probably more because of me getting uptiered against Tiger IIs and Panther As as I played with a friend who was a tiny bit higher BR in his American tree.

Another tip for the tiger h1 with the mine launchers at the corners of your tank is that they affect the depression of your barrel; Another great rule of thumb is to never be in a position that requires you to use the depression of your barrel. The reason is is that your mine launcher on the h1 is your optimal angle when fighting and if you need to depress your cannon to make the shot you’ve lost your optimal angle because of the mine launchers and may be penetrated by the enemy.

Germany has very good and stronk tonks... the problem with german tanks are their players

Ya know you're not wrong but you're missing part of the problem, the snails influence on brs making comparable tanks of America russia England etc, all q br higher than the tiger even though it has no problem dealing with them, see the m26 or t44 neither have stellar armor or guns but are a while br higher because these countries got gud instead of complaining and actually having gaijin lower their tanks brs

"Germany suffers" Goes to an exposed area with little cover, thinking they have some sort of immunity to shells since they are going with the tiger

How to use the tiger (H1) good: 1. You must always angle and listen to your surroundings, especally when you are repairing. 2. I reccomend using PzGr shells and maybe a few HE rounds but they arent really used. 3. Probably the best use for the Tiger is flaking, so try use it the most. Now every tank that looks at your angled Tiger is gonna try to run.

I gotta say, angling your Tiger really is an effective tactic. I once encountered an enemy Tiger who is angling his tank, couldn't penetrate the bastard without exposing myself. But my issue with this tactic is putting it into practice. I don't know how much to angle to my enemies

While I agree that the Tiger is a good tank, I don't think this captures the full picture. It is true that a lot of people just think they can brush off any hit while dishing out mayhem themselves; but you are also a very good player, and I think that the Tiger isn't as easy to play as you make it look. A lot of people will be trying their best in the Tiger and stil get clapped by say an M18 who isn't as good. It's true that excellent players can absolutely dominate in a Tiger, but if you balance a tank based on what the best players can do with a tank, then the game will feel completely unfair and unbalanced to the majority of the playerbase.

Tanks NEED to be balanced by the highest skill level, not by the average stats. Why? Because these guys can absolutely dominate in these vehicles and literally turn the tide of a match with them, and balancing should not be done by repair cost but by BR. It might be unbalanced for newcomers, but honestly they can just git gud, German tanks are on average better than their counterparts and yet they still manage to lose because players don't go for objectives and simply want their tanks to do all the job, I.E: "Muh tiger should be able to defeat 5 sherman tanks by itself reeeeeee".

@@NFDave1992 I agree that tanks should with BR rather than repair cost, but I disagree that tanks should be balanced by performance in the highest level of play. If you balance the game like this, then a large portion of the playerbase, the lower-skilled portion, will feel that the game just isn't fun to play. They'll just find themselves dying over and over again to a 2000m snipe or an M18 superflank, and while hitting that 2000m shot is very hard, dying to it isn't fun if you weren't aware of the sight line, which new players often aren't. As for the argument that new players can just git gud, it doesn't really work. Because they aren't going to get good, they're going to have a bad experience, and then they are going to stop playing. War Thunder is already hostile enough to new players with the massive grind and OP premiums, they dont need another reason for new players to quit. These people who quit after just a few hours could be people who would have loved the game, who would have been the next pros, but instead they quit because the game is so unfriendly to new players. And you should care, because if new players aren't joining, then the game you're so "gud" at will die.

The thing I've noticed about the Tiger is that its placement currently matches its historical impact, to a point. Amazing tank for its time/BR, but, EVERYTHING afterwards was designed to beat it, so it chokes on uptiers.

I had almost enough sl to buy the tiger then the almighty snail asked me to pay my repair costs and now i am short on sl

i believe all the tiger tanks are good. it just depends on how people use them. and Wittmann is a bad example for tigers being destroyed because he is arguably one of the Best Tank commanders in history

one time I spawned in a Tiger, died almost instantly to a 76 Jumbo, spawned again in panther, died to a a plane, spawned in a Panzer IV, killed a Super Pershing, a normal Pershing and rushed the A point. still lost the game lol :p

T-34-85 penning my front at a 40° angle from 500 meters away. "Angling your hull makes you near invincible." To deflect a shot from 5.3 and above, you need to angle such that when your front becomes impenetrable, your side will be EZ pen.

Earlyer today I had a Tiger bouncing off of my ARL 44's turret. That's what I call talent, managing to bounce several times off a tank's turret that's literally impossible not to pen...

I got the 5.3 tiger recently after having basically played only Shermans for ages. First game i get sniped by a 75mm from a jumbo next i get killed by an M22. Help. I want my Shermans back.

It's not the fantastical bullshit it used to be. Back in the day you would roll up on a Tiger in your Jumbo or 76mm and cross your fingers you didn't get lol penned before you found the turret ring pixel, since penning an angled Tiger was not an option, nor was the hatch reliable for more than killing the commander. The other more dangerous option was to use then especially overbuff toxic 50cals to barrel thunder and track them. Repairs were a lot faster then too. Muzzlebrake thunder is still cancer. This was also when the German AA's had full HVAP belts with 100 pen. So everything killed you.

aiming for the lower plate on an IS-1/2/1944 and Kv tank shows youve played for so long you remember the bias days when the upper plates were ungodly cheesy and constantly bounced shells for no reason.

Tiger 1 is and will always be my favorite Tank. I played it like it’s a medium tank , it’s fun

Yes, yes, It's really bad if you don't ANGLE it's armor. Even though it has box shapped chassi, if you angle it, you can have a very high survivability.

Just something I want add when fighting Jumbo, you can kill them shooting their gun mantlet where the gunners scope is (which is on your right when his gun is pointed at you) I don't know if it works with the 88/L56 gun, but I get consistent results there with my Panthers and L71 88mm guns as far as 600m distances. Edit/Correction: The left side has the loader and machine gun, but if you aim in between the main gun and machine gun you will do tremendous damage if not out right kill the Jumbo. More so than if you aimed and penetrate the opposite side where the gunner is which will net you at best 3 of the crew; the left side grants you higher chances of a complete knocked out tank. You however cannot do this with the 88/L56 as it doesn't have the penetration. But there is one other option, try to aim under the gun mantlet and between the driver and radio operators view ports, it still has enough pen to go through there, but it is tricky. Another tip is even if a Jumbo is angled, aim for the crease where the side plate meets the frontal hull, I know this sounds odd considering Volumetric Ammo's mechanic with overlapping plates, but as long as you get the side of the add on plate on the front hull you will penetrate and punch right through getting all the crew even at 1km.

To put it in simple form: Most tiger players are in the age range of 1-2

I agree, I shot a Tiger in the side once without penetrating, and he just slowly turned his turret to the left to shoot me.

The tiger is so good its cruel

as a Chrchill 7 player who's had great success coming first in rounds by just bouncing shells, a tiger scares me, up until I take his barrel and slowly flank him, then they tend to panic, repair it and let me shoot the back of the turret. One time I faced a player who didn't do this, but I had a squadmate so negated his brain by just having two of us. With the the churchil- just get around me, take my tracks. I can't pen you frontally, only in your turret from the back and side. take a track and my gun (That's what I'll be doing with you). The perks of WT is I'm eganging you closer than in WW2, so some of my negatives are negated, sure I can't pen your front but I can just go around you by taking a track and barrel. Also, don't think a Panther will help you- I've managed to develop a nasty habbit of shot trapping them frontally. I got so lucky the first time and it's a fifity-fifty but when it works, I feel disgusting.

As a tiger player myself I used to suck at literally knowing the tanks weakspots. But now I always know what to do thanks to me seeing a tiger in person (Tank museum) If there are short 75mm Sherman’s or 1941 T-34s take distance since you have the advantage with your literal AA gun. The velocity and range is (mostly) better than other tanks you face in the BR. Angle the armour as you probably have the weakest armour for a heavy tank. And finally take time to fire at weakspots to all tanks. Hope this helped I guess?

@@spurdosparde9487 the tiger 1 isnt at a BR where HEATFS is avalible, both tiger 1's are 5.3 - 5.7 and the maximum up-tier being 6.3 - .6.7, HEATFS doesnt start appearing up until the 7.0 line or on some 6.7 premium tanks (rare, everyone buys top tier premium tanks or the Ru-251 usually) as far as it goes for APDS, at those tiers its usually only the M41 and other light tanks that have it, or tank destroyers which are usually the least armored which is why its balanced, not to mention the tiger and tiger 2 are fully capable of bouncing APDS

Intro is golden

A good skill for Tiger players to learn (or any tank in general) is side scrapping. Keep in mind though that your track can and will be constantly broken, but that's no issue if the enemy keeps on bouncing off your main armor. Do it well and you can defend a whole street or route with relative ease. Its a skill I picked up from playing world of tanks and I still find it really useful now that I'm playing war thunder.

The Tiger 1 is by far my favorite tank from that era. Even playing it in WT, I felt like it held it's own while also delivering devastating firepower. Very well executed video by the way, I admire your thought process and delivery of vital information.

Tiger H1 with angled armor is literally unstoppable, I can get 10+ kills per game with it no issues playing at tier/downtier, and when I'm uptiered I usually do decently well. Just angle your armor and literally no tank can kill you

I've seen jumbos rush in and die like tigers and I've seen tigers play like gods it only matters on these 5 things the situation, your tank, your skill, the enemies tank and the enemies skill.

A 5.7 German lineup right now is OP. I'm typically at the top of my team with minimal research into these vehicles and bad crew levels.

one more tip, keep your distance, you've got a long 8,8 cm cannon and better ballistics than most other vehicles at your BR, and distance increase your armor efficiency.

As a Tiger enjoyer, there is nothing more satisfying than hitting that sweet neckshot from a kilometer away on an American heavy like the Pershing, Super Pershing and instantly killing it

Germans tree makes it very easy to skip the 4.x lineup and go straight into tiger/panther which means you will often lack competitive backup vehicles once you enter the tier, unless you actually grind the TD's. Once you lose your tiger, then you are very likely in a effective up tier(doubly so if your lone tiger was up tiered), Tiger is good, but not near good enough to carry a lineup. Though once the player actually gets to 5.7 with mulitiple tigers and panthers, they have one of the best lineups in the game for its tier, until you go to higher tiers where everyone else fully catches up. Honostly the tiger can stay at 5.3-5.7, but require the player to complete more of the TD lines to research the tiger/panther so the German player actually has a backup vehicle line when they get the tiger, which allows you to correctly tier the panther to 5.7-6.0(where it does fine, even as a backup vehicle for the tiger 2). War-thunder needs to balance tanks around a their entire lineup, not individually.

This is all good advice, but nothing helps when it's your 3rd match of the day on Karelia in a full uptier while trying to grind better tanks

In my Tiger II (H) Sla16, and against my friend who's in a Object 120, i win around 80% of the time due to late reactions, improper rangefinding, bad angles and tunnel vision. It's surprising that i can get away with this with such ease. He needs to improve, big time.

Actually the angle thing, way back in 2017/16 someone who I was playing with told me to angle the Tiger like a diamond, that was my first match, can't remember why he told me that, but this advise I took to my whole "career" playing with the Tiger (works with a few other tanks too), it was such a good thing a random guy told to another random guy that changed the way I see teammates, as a tribute to that guy, when I see a low level playing the Tiger without angle I tell him this diamond thing. Well, sorry for the story, it was just a thing I want to show to your audience, you can make you teammates better, not by calling them blind, dumb or so.

One more tip: Sherman 75s can pen the sides of the drivers port (Im talking about the bulging rectangles on the sides of the glass) and is often a one shot kill

@@AllMightyKingBowser The D5T gun has a shell with hidden APDS modifiers. I can't count the sheer number of times I have instant exploded from off-angle hits by them. You can bingo roll panther plates at certain ranges. Actually, there are many over-buff Soviet shells. Even the 122mm APHE is supposed to have something like 30 less pen.

I'm a Us main and a month or so ago I decided to grind to the tiger. Wanted to see if it was as bad as people say. My first game I got 9 kills and don't die. I bounced like 9 shells and had a great time. People just have no perception of basic math I feel like. Angle armor make armor thicker, ooga booga

That last part is very good advice in general. Everybody gets Gaijined. The difference is how you deal with it.

Dont forget, that 88 has a tone of range. If you can hit long range shots, fining a good overlook and just picking things off from range is always an option
