Australia are ranked first in the ICC Test Championship, fourth in the ICC ODI Championship and second in the ICC T20I Championship. Why is Australia always the most invincible side in cricket. Australia's success in cricket can be attributed to a combination of factors. Historically, Australia has had a strong cricketing culture with a deep talent pool, a well-established domestic cricket system, and a tradition of producing world-class players.

    It's not just the Men's team either. The Australian Women's Team have also been extremely dominant. 7x WC winners, 6x T20 WC winners and a dominant test side. Spearheaded by Ellyse Perry over the last decade, is one of the greatest Cricket players in general, man or woman. As they say, Australian test captain is the second most important job after Prime Minister. That's how seriously we take it.

    The importance of the Sheffield Shield should not be understated, and I am glad you mentioned it. Not only is it a high standard competition but the state sides that play in it play a lot of games against touring international teams. That means many first-class players are playing to near-test standard cricket even before they are able to get into the test side. This creates players that are already hardened for the five-day game. During the 1999-2007 period especially, Australian state teams were beating most foreign touring teams.

    The Shield is not as influential as it used to be, unfortunately. Hence why we are weaker now than we used to be. Backyard cricket is the reason why we have always been so good, plus playing multiple sports. The Shield has always been important as well. It was in some ways the most intense high quality cricket played in the world at time in history. It was as aggressive as sport could get at times, mentally as well as physically.

    Australia is the only team that can chase 200 more runs even after losing 7 wickets, Australia is the only team that can restrict the team that had scored 80 in 10 overs to 240 in 50 overs, this is the fighting spirit of Aussies and it was sad to see how Afghans and Indians lost these games to them😢. Im NOT including the 77/78 aust tour of thr windies where Australia fielded a scrub team due to wsc . Roberts , holding, garner, croft or marshal were the most brutal bowlimg line up ever in the history of test cricket especially when there was no bouncer limit then . Aust with its top lineup managed to tie a 3 test series 1-1 and got hammered in the rest. The 79/80 team , in my opinon was their best cause you had roberts holding garner and croft all at their peak . Garner in particular brutalized g chappel in that series. But you also had rhe worlds best batsmen in richards and great openers Greenwich and haynes , and clive loyd still a top player

No one in the cities will talk about which school produced the best test results but which school wins Head Of The River, Rugby, Cricket etc makes the news.

    I wasn’t much of a cricket fan in childhood, however we used to play a card game in school which would have cricketers and their records written on it like highest avaerage odi, highest total, highest no of wickets..So u can challenge other player by throwing ur card on any of the above records..And Sachin used to win most like highest odi total, highest total runs and so on..until someone pulled out Sir don bradman..He had the highest records which no one could beat..So,thats how i knew about the legendary player..Even other aussie players like gilchrist, shane warne, macgrath etc had some of those highest records..So,i knew them even though i never really watched cricket..

    Winning culture and winning mentality. The 2023 World Cup win came down simply to the fact that before the final, it was supposed to be a procession for India. Unbeaten and on home soil, it was supposed to be their crowning. In that locker room, that would have been disrespectful and that provided extreme motivation, no doubt about it. Australians embrace it when they are given the underdog tag and thrive when odds are against them unlike many nations.

    The current Aussie team ofcourse has some best cricketers of this contemporary cricket world but they are never close to the mighty Aussies of 90s. Despite that they're invincible because of their impeccable cricketing culture. Between 2010 to 2020 they won only one ICC tournament ( 2015 WC) that has to be marked as their worst phase since the 90s. But still they came back to win 3 tournaments in the past 2 years. You can never write off the Aussies.

    True, cricket may become like FIFA where even the world cup winner has to qualify for the next wcup atleast in T20. ICC needs to spread cricket across the world rather being a puppet of bcci. BCCI wud never want to lose its monopoly over cricket as big economic giants like USA China may jump in.

    There's plenty of countries that play cricket that don't make it to the ICC World Cups because sadly they didn't qualify. Ireland and Zimbabwe are two top tier international teams that didn't qualify for the World Cup last year. There are actually over 100 countries with international cricket teams, after soccer it's the most played sport in the world. The US has both men's and women's Under 19 international cricket teams, they might become a force in the future as cricket is being promoted heavily there in recent times, and indeed some of the 2024 T20 World Cup games are scheduled to be held in the US. Atm the US teams are largely comprised of folks of Indian heritage but it will reach larger sections of the populace as it gains popularity.

  • @woopimagpie

    @woopimagpie

    @@MikspaOrdan The ICC would like nothing more than to break into the US market, that's why there's been big promotional programs started there in recent times. Some of the T20 World Cup games are scheduled to take place in the US later this year, and the US already has Under 19 international teams for both men and women so they are upcoming in the sport and may well become a force in the future. I dunno about China. I can't see them ever getting involved, but you never know. One thing's for sure, the BCCI needs its ass kicked. Since they've been pulling the strings India has failed to win any big tournaments so whatever they are doing isn't working.

    In the 1980s when Greg Chappell, Dennis Lillee and Rod Marsh retired at the same time left an aweful big hole in the team and ended up in the low point of Kim Hughes resigning captaincy. If it was Alan Border's shear bloody mindedness take on teams almost single handedly the it would have been much lower. But took some real work from getting back Coach Simpson and getting back to basics improving the fielding and catching practice to win the 1987 World Cup. Along the way talent finds got into the team and eventually cemented their place in History - Steve Waugh, Dean Jones, David Boon, Ricky Ponting, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, Dizzie Gillespie, Brett Lee and many many others to rise up to the powerful team but it would have been Border's warriors to not look back and leave nothing in the tank that started it.

Moreover, New Holland is the mainland of the Greater Brütish Realm (GBR) 🇬🇧 which is commonly known as the U.K.. The southern lands that make up the GBR are the Falkland Islands 🇫🇰 and Tasmania 🇦🇺, and its northern lands are England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 and Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, just to name a few.

    Cold region? Mate, it was 41C in Perth yesterday. Australia is Independent of the UK. Tasmania belongs to Australia not the UK. New Holland was the name the Dutch gave to Australia before the British arrived and named it Australia.

    I am an Australian. Yes we are probably the most CONSISTENT team in history but every team has a golden period - In my lifetime - West Indies, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India and England have all won WCs. NZ and SA unluckily just missed out! I'm sure that will change some time. That's why it is a beautiful game!

    We have a great climate for outdoor sports, plenty of space for big pitches cricket, pitches, and cricket nets on every other local, oval and neighbourhood field. There’s only three or four dominant sports in the country, and the other three are played at times of the year when cricket usually isn’t meaning Kids can play both if they are in a position to. We also play a lot at schools either because we have cricket nets or we would just play with two bins and our hands. It has changed somewhat, but most of the cricket is also shown on free to air television meeaning that people can watch it easily, especially children. It also has its most interesting matches at the time of the year when people are off work and kids are off school and sometimes it can be so hot outside that it is enticing to lay on the lounge in front of the air-conditioner and have the cricket on in the background. All of this means there are plenty of opportunities for kids and teenagers to play so even with a small population, there are plenty of kids in the pipeline. Hate basically one of a couple of sports in the country that it is expected that we do well at, if we aren’t number one or two in the world, serious questions, start getting asked, some of that is arrogance, but it also means that there is constant Pressure to stay at the top.

    @@officialsportica yes, but also because people start losing their minds if we aren’t number one or challenging for number one, so it’s not just pressure alone, it’s constant inquiries and research to find out what’s going wrong and what could be done better.
