We don’t worship elders but we hold them high regard , where I brought up my parents used to tell me to respect elders and consider them like my parents. Also in Islam we are commanding to take care of our parents when the older age. Thanks Clare and the whole team.

Saham Sura The word with the /z/ pronunciation is the English version. The meaning doesn’t change after all.
