    The best way of becoming a fighter is not giving up. The mindset of someone who never gives up is the mindset of a real fighter, so work on your mindset, don't give up and the body will follow.

    @@grzegorz685 often times at first it's nerves that make you tired. Also in sparring when somebody can hit you back you move and strike differently than when hitting the bag or shadowboxing thus your body is not used to it and get tired. The body will get used to it. To both of the fellas above I wholeheartedly recommend sparring now. Take it easy and don't be stupid about it, but it's not something special that you should put off for a long time since the moment you first start training. It's also totally fine to ask sparring partner to go easy on you

    Kickboxer from Singapore here 🇸🇬 I started watching you from Hamza and completely agree 100% with everything you just said. I started Taekwondo 🥋and Muay thai 🥊after getting bullied in an all-boys sec school for 5 years when i was 17 and im now looking to turn pro! I got into fighting literally because it what scared me the most. And before every bout i had there was always some major fuckup in my personal life that i had to deal with on top of being petrified before entering the ring/cage. Earlier this year in june, my rotten toxic ex went on a defamation case against me and trended me on instagram right after i lost my second kickboxing fight. I literally had to fight through months of physical and mental pain only to lose again in august. I wanted to quit so badly but i promised the little-me that i wouldn't let him down and that i would be the Champion one day. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, maybe not next month or even next year. But i will get there. Last month was the final fight i had this year, and i proceeded to outclass my opponent and beat his ass from pillar to post. Round 1 to Round 3. If there is anything Muay thai has taught me, it's to do the hard work especially when you don't feel like it ;) Keep rocking bro :) From the Cobra (my ringname) to the Gorilla 🐍🦍

    Im a boxer from the Netherlands and always hesitated to join a gym. For me it was always head trauma that made me not want to go into it. I’ve been doing it for some time now, and I do think this has improved my life and confidence significantly. However if you do not plan on competing watch out with those sparring sessions. Best advice is be honest with yourself, if you only experience dizzyness after sparring class then theres your answer. It’s probably from your brain getting thrown around in your skull. It can also be from shots on the ear, because your vertigo sits in that region. Anyways Its all trauma to the brain my friend. As someone who has been boxing for over 10 years this is really good advice for beginners. One thing I will say is always just be honest with coaches and others in the gym in terms of your level. I've seen so many guys pretend they are more experienced than they actually are and get hurt. All because their ego doesn't want to admit to others that they have no experience (in most cases more experienced guys will be able to tell your a beginner due to bad technique/form etc). You need to treat it like your a student everytime you go in, listen to coaches, ask questions, study outside and make sure you conditioning yourself to be fighter not body builder. You will be surprised how much confident & better you will get if you dedicate yourself for 5-6 weeks. Good vid man.

    I’ve tried judo recently and it’s been great. The level of conditioning and strategy is insane. I used to try and practice grappling with friends, but when I joined the judo club the first time I actually did randori ( sparring ) against an opponent it was crazy. He was so good with throws, trips, ect . He won easily without even trying and I couldn’t take him down . I realized that there is levels to the sport and I’m more than glad to learn. It’s so fun once you get over the initial fear , and the training partners ( especially higher level people ) will help you with techniques and mistakes you make .

    I liked the idea of fighting and being a badass fighter when i was younger, truthfully that was my entry into lifting weights and physical culture and training. I had learnt some martial arts and defeated all of my bullies in my teens and upto 20 years old because by genetics and attitude I was quite aggressive and strong. Mostly I won, excepting one. Now all those romance have faded when I have a career and getting into a fight isn't exciting, due to fear of recieving or giving an irrevocable injury. I like grappling arts as wrestling, catch and freestyle, but picking fights with random folks doesn't interest me. I plan to learn boxing and kyokushin karate only for self defence and fun. Wrestling because I want to prove my strength, not necessarily injure somebody. That's my overall view nowadays and welcome to be corrected and put new perspectives.

    I did boxing in my high school and I can say that it helped me a lot but really a lot because I did a lot of sparring and I remember the first time it was when we had just started the sessions I asked a classmate to do a sparring I was horrible I was afraid to take blows to my face so I lowered my head or I turned my back and I took more punches doing that and in the lessons after the teacher told me don't be afraid to take blows never turn your back keep your hands forward and what I did and I said don't be afraid take yourself 100 blows and that's it. lessons afterwards the teacher told me don't be afraid of getting hit, don't turn your back and keep your hands forward and that's what I did and I said to myself "don't be afraid, take 100 punches if you have to, but don't turn your back" and that's what I did and that helped me, I got better at sparring of course, afterwards most of them were inexperienced like me, but we'll say that I was able to have a minimum of experience with that

Also, Bjj could be frustrating if you're rolling in a Gi. However, No-Gi is like wrestling with submissions. I feel that boxing is very one dimensional but if you want to get good with the hands I would recommend boxing all the way.

    The only thing im afraid of is getting injuries that will have impact in the future. I am working as a software developer and have long-term plans of starting some kind of business in IT sphere in a couple of years, so my brain activity is pretty important to me. However I think that during sparring there's pretty high chance of getting an injury that will have a negative effect. I have an example: my father did karate for the most of his twenties and after 30 he started having serious problems with his eyesight. Also I have other examples of people breaking nose, legs etc. So I am considering this and would be glad to receive an advice how to start doing martial arts (primarily for self-defense) but with minimal risks of getting injuries that damage the health in the long run.

  • @oppolatoespresso6369

    @oppolatoespresso6369

    My advice would definitely be to focus on grappling, whether it be BJJ, wrestling or judo. Striking arts, especially boxing just carries too big a risk of brain damage to make it worthwhile for most people. You have to love boxing with a passion/have a career in it to justify regular sparring in my opinion. Obviously with judo and wrestling (especially greco-roman) there will be a lot of throws which actually Can cause brain damage as well, but this is VERY minor compared to being hit in the head, it’s probably not even worth mentioning. If you pursue grappling arts, be ready for a lot of nagging pain and so on once you’ve done it for a reasonable amount of time. Loads of BJJ players are dealing with aches and sprains throughout their bodies, and these will of course only get worse and worse the longer you do BJJ. I don’t want to come of as a pessimist, these are all facts and you already Seem to know there’s definite downsides to combat sports. I don’t know you and therefore I don’t know if you live in a bad neighbourhood, if that’s not the case I personally wouldn’t be too worried about potential street fight situations. If you are worried though, but you’re not quite sure yet if want to jump into martial arts, I would recommend looking into things such as situational awareness and conflict deescalation etc. Lifting weights and getting bigger could also make potential troublemakers think twice before attacking you, but obviously won’t give you any fighting skills whatsoever. But yeah, if brain damage is a concern, which I totally understand, but you WANT to do some form of martial art for self defense purposes, a grappling art is the way to go. Read up on the downsides of BJJ for example in terms of injuries, and make your decision from there. There’s loads of positives to BJJ/wrestling/judo as well - it’s up to the individual to decide what’s right for them. Hope my advice is useful🤟

Maybe in the UK is different (surely in the US is, my sister is living there). Here the people is pretty peaceful. Nevertheless, I am considering joining a local gym of martial arts, in addition to my calisthenics workouts. Maybe it will be my new passion? I'm eager to find out.

    Boxed for two years. My primary concern is the head injury risk. I don't mind getting hit in the head; it's just that it could cause long-term brain damage. Have you considered this? I've been lifting for about 6 years now, but all the recent momentum with you, Hamza, Andrew Tate, etc., is making me reconsider taking up the sport.

    Depends what the culture of the gym is like. Some gyms are very brutal heavy sparring sessions most sessions and others are more technical sparring sessions and the heavy sessions will be bodyshots only. Go try a few out and see. If not maybe try a grappling art ? No strikes to the head yet you still get a lot of the same benefits.

    Go box and focus on your defense, the risk of doing nothing is much bigger than the risk of head injury in boxing. You should only hard spar when you have a fight coming up or once in a while to keep your senses sharp, the more you're gonna worry about it the more likely something is gonna happen because you will slip up, but still be aware of the consequences.

    I have no idea but just a raw observation here. Ju jistu strikes me as something that was designed before asphalt when fighting and battles were mostly fought on grass, dirt, sand, and sometimes on softwood flooring, but never anything as hard as asphalt or sidewalk. Also it I think it was made as a last resort tool, only when your enemy closes in on you and you have to hope its 1v1 and that his buddies will be busy fight off your buddies. The fact that there nearly no punching or kicking in ju jistu, but instead a focus on choking, take downs, twisting limbs and joints also makes me think it was designed to overcome armored opponents, but again as a last resort in battle. I wouldn't even think about trying to punch or kick a fully armored Samurai or Knight. I would want to be one hell of a ju jitsu fighter. And in a street fight the last thing I'd want is to go down in the floor or concrete with another dude. Today I think boxing and running makes more sense for self defense.

  • @OptionsNZ

    @OptionsNZ

    Its pretty situational i would say, you're right in terms of i would try make sure its a 1v1 before i even think of going to the ground, but if i get a hold of them, the average person has no clue what they are doing in a grappling situation, and if you can get their back its over. I also find it a safer option for both parties, i know its a street fight but the last thing i wanna do is kick someone in the head and them go head first in the ground, that risks too much damage or even death. walking away is by far the best option, boxing / muaythai / kickboxing are the 3 best for striking and jiu jitsu / wrestling are the safest options if it does get to a fight. just my opinion tho

Challenge yourself with some ideas about manhood, explore your masculine potential to the maximum and become the kind of man you would admire.
