Actually no. There is no evidence of true evolution if you use the real definition of species...for example they now use the equivalent of breed as their definition...such and the two types of buffalo ...tho zero dna difference...they still.cant explain the cambridge explosion (it happened too.fast). Experiments using the fastest breeding life forms going on now for well iver 80 years still show no.evolition....at all..true its a short time but equivalent to over 3 million years of all other life.forms

@@sislertx You can even observe adaptations to the environment in fishes like Guppys, which breed very fast. In the sense of adaptation of a species to an environment some evolution can clearly be observed

There are many examples of one species turning into an other, even in modern time we have e-coli bacteria that started eating citric acid which no other bacteria eats.

The Cambrian explosion did not happen fast at all. It lasted for 25 millon years and we have found soft bodied animals that are their ancestors, and we've also found their descendents. Just because they started having hard shells that were preserved better does not mean that a god said hocus pocus and put them there.

I agree with you because there are many types of animals which can speak THE human language in our world. for instance, parrots, lovebirds. etc.

I'm not a biologist, but probably those animals live a short life now if they eat our kind of food, fat, and processed.

Very interesting video! Indeed evolution can also be seen nowadays. Remember elephants and poachers; elephants are being born with smaller or even no tusks. And that is just because of poachers hunting for elephants with enormous tusks.

kind of scary this kind of change as a result of humans activities on earth. I can't see this as a beautiful thing as the scientist guy does. It's amazing, astonishing that those species learn how to survive, but sad they need this because of us.

I was so close to seeing a TED TALK live in Vancouver when I was there two years ago. Missed it by an hour.

It makes sense. In the laboratory after 20 generations of breeding a mouse is a new strain because mutations happen. Survival is promoting the best mutation.

This is not EVOLUTION, this is the ADAPTATION.

Adaptation is an example of evolution at a smaller scale. It doesn't necessarily have to be a new species being formed. Speciation is the creation of a new species. It is not equivalent to evolution. Although evolution is one of the causes of speciation.

Summary: Adaptation can also be a short time process, ex- 🐌s now have lighter coloured shell to reflect light & keep them cooler, more example check out his book(he literally pitches his book) Thankyou No hard feelings ☮️

Sheeeeet anyone that's watched how raccoons deal with cities knows all about what you're talking about. We have changed the way animals act and evolve I'm sure.

Humans are not destroying their habitat, we as a species have always made our won habitat, we have always found ways to take more do more with what we have. It is unfortunate in my opinion, but you don't need Beatles mosquitoes or other living creatures around forever in order for us to survive or thrive for that matter. Nonetheless, there are some essential creatures. however, the more technology develops the less relevant they become. Think of this. We are trying to live on the moon.

We have yet to find a way to build our own habitats without damaging the ecosystems we come into contact with. As for your claims that there are creatures we could survive without, and that there are "some essential creatures" but that their relevance is somehow diminished by technological progress, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find any verifiable evidence to support them. We've never existed in a world without mosquitoes or beetles, we have no idea what ecological imbalances the lack of these creatures would cause, or whether we could offset those imbalances through technology alone. We're still a long way from off-world colonies, the fact that we're trying to build them doesn't mean we can at this point, or that we'd be able to sustain them without other forms of life.

I saw a dog took public transportation in bangkok 20 years ago. It took an open-air minibus for 1 stop. (It didn't pay)

Their numbers are falling rapidly but with our help some species of birds will be able to survive in our environment.

It'd be best if we leave plants and animals enough room to prosper, but the second best thing is if they adapt to the changes we bring

Again, Adaptions not evolution. The mouse is still a mouse just able to change its diet due to access, the snell is still a snell just able to change shell color due to temperature, and the pigeon is still a pigeon. These remarkable changes are fascinating, but only how they adapted to their environment not evolved into a different species. Very cool video.

Evolution , change over time So basically any change is evolution But there are the more specific ones But all are under evolution

If this " modern " type of visible evolution is so prevalent, maybe that's the way it has always been ? Humans are just another contributing factor, just like all other contributing factors have been for billions of years. Maybe quick adaption is the norm and we just haven't noticed it until we actually started looking at it.

Hmmm that's actually a really interesting thought. I remember in my undergrad bio classes we were told that evolution can't be manipulated, but this seems to sort of prove otherwise. I think it may depend on the scope through which the "manipulation" is being observed. On a macroscopic scale, as in this video, it seems evolution can be purposefully manipulated. However, since evolution is the result of random DNA mutations, at it's core, it can't be manipulated. Thoughts?

I’m slightly annoyed with the constant inaccurate phrasing. Living beings do not evolve TO MEET a living condition. Animals with certain mutations that happen to suit their environment survive and reproduce better, so pass on these genes. Their genes didn’t “decide” to adapt to meet their environment. It’s just a small thing but it really is frustrating that a biologist is not more accurate in the wording.

Adapting implies behavioural, while evolution implies genetic. Both are closely linked but mean different things.

Adaption is included in evolution, it's practically the same thing. And their DNA has been changed, so yes, they evolved! Evolution is ANY change in a population over time.

In today's politically correct world, they say we shouldn't hurt anyone's feelings. No room for jokes. But it is absolutely correct to ruin our ecosystem? That's screwed up. We can't change what has happened but we can prevent the future damage. One change at a time. Like this so everyone can see it.
