How and Why are Sikhs killing Sikhi?

As a practising Sikh herself, Sukhmani Kaur addresses some key issues in the Sikh community. Why and how are Sikhs killing Sikhi? She goes through the Sikhi Tree analogy and how each root is being cut by ourselves starving the tree any success of growing.

Waheguru is awsome and has made u truly awsome. Enough love sister #waheguru #DhanDhanGurunanakDevJi. It does sadden me to see that most are caught up in the mainstream mode of thought and rhetric and have forgotten guru shabad and are consumed in egotism, and the constitutions of individualism as well as a consumerist mode of thought. But its so beautiful too see you resonating with guru shabad and sikhi. Waheguru is truly awsome.

The Turbanator Their is no "Gori Myth". The Only people who might believe ""Gori myth" are uneducated, extremely backward people who never stepped outside their door. Dont get confused with the traditional 3 other Pseudo Sikh "Goray" organizations like 3h0, Sikh Dharma International and Sikhnet. Those 3 organizations know Nothing about Sikhi. But this young girl is knowledgeable about Sikh Faith and Guru Granth Sahib. It is not Goray that try to "whitewash" (the same word u used) Sikhi, it is The Punjabi's themselves and that are uneducated about Guru's word.

In conclusion the "Gori" Myth is Real and we need to encourage all types of Diversity in our Gurdawara and the Panth. (End of Conversation)

Kamilla D There are many Gurdwaras all over the world that look down on or don't allow people who are not Punjabi from taking part in certain ceremonies. ONE example is at my local Gurdwara at Ross Street in Vancouver Canada where my White Female friend wanted to do A Katha but they would not let her do it but they let an uneducated Punjabi guy straight outta India who cant even speak English properly do it. This is just ONE example i have stated there are many more. How dare you accuse ME of being "uneducated your backward" when i am Defending people of all races and genders who want to take part in ceremonies. Is that the Same Ross Street Gurdwara u talk off?? Is this Same Ross street "gurdwara" that IS managed by communist punjabis, and frequented by ravidasia Sikhs? The same Ross street "Gurdwara that went againt Hukamnama in 1998 that by Akal Takth to take out furniture from Langar hall?? Ross street is NOT a Gurdwara, it is managed by thugs, No Real Sikhs go their. Your white friend would NOT have had same experience if she visited another REAL Gurdwara in the Vancouver area.

This is easily one of the most articulate, succinct and comprehensive summary of the problems in the Sikh panth, that if unaddressed, can lead to the demise of Sikhi. Well done! We must remind ourselves that Sikhi is Guru Nanak's great religion that delivered justice and equality to all, irrespective of race, gender, caste and religion. The same religion without which Indianism couldn't even have survived. Heck, if it wasn't for Guru Gobind Singh and the Khalsa panth, we'd prolly all be muslims. We must do our best to embrace the unique heritage we have inherited and let the flower of Sikhi blossom, as opposed to ditching it altogether because it's "inconvenient."

Wjkk wjkf! Turban is 1 of the 5 K’s that’s one fact Bcz it’s kakka keski , kakka kanga, kakka kara, kakka kirpan, kakka kachera. Many ppl do this wrong. Im NOT saying now that we are aloud to cut our hair, but we have the. Keski to protect our uncut hair! The reason is Bcz look we get hair from when we’re born, but Guru sahib can’t give us again hair so he gave the keski to protect It! Eating meat is also wrong, for example ( it’s true tho) a cow can be 15 yrs old , but what we ppl do is letting the cow die when it’s 4 yrs old! How young is that!!! I hope I could explain it good , and if I didn’t then maaf karna. If u have questions pls ask them. Questions aren’t weird , Bcz we’re learning of asking in our life that’s why our name is SIKH ( student) ( ps I’m not saying now that I’m a saint or something , just that you can ask questions any time!)

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫ਼ਤਿਹ I would have to agree with you. On Bandi Chor Divas, the Darbar Sahib is absolutely full and you see faces that you never see in the year! I know people at the Gurdwara because I'm a local goer. People don't even go on Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Gurpurb. There's only about 3 people in Darbar. I get that there's a akhand Path is going on but at least come on the Path's bhog (there's only 20 people). You guys would have to do a program there at Bandi Chor evening when people come. It's ridiculous. There are also people I know that call themselves "Sikhs" when they don't even know anything about Sikhi and Gurbani.

The ultimate problem of Sikh, is that they failed to come out of Punjabi. Religion should not be restricted to a language. Tamil or Bengalis won't accept Punjabi Names. May the Guru guide you.

I don't think the Guru is opposed to that idea. Just support and help your family, that's a Hukam, doesn't mean you have to live with them.
