    Hi Luzi First, thank you for all these videos, you’re really helping us a looot to understand everything better. Now i have a question: if “bei” is a preposition which requires Dativ, why didn’t we use “einem” instead of “ein” in the example “Beim Backer kauft er ein Brot” Could you also say if “ein” is in Akkusativ or Nominativ and why? Thank you 🫶🏼

  • @danielaparisi-pk9yc

    @danielaparisi-pk9yc

    4 ай бұрын

    Hello Elena, hope it is not too late for the response! Im also learning the language but I would say that it is due to the fact that kaufen is a transitive verb and therefore requires akkusative for its object, in this case the bread (das Brot), the indefinite article is ein, it would be einen if the noun were masculine and eine if it were femenine, but since Brot is neutral you need to use ein. If you look closer, you can see that Beim Backer, uses Bei + dem, therefore Beim, this first part is indeed using Dativ. Good luck!
