Totally agree Paul. I'd say a left sided CB made sense in the summer but it makes complete sense now. If we don't act we are asking a lot of Konate and Gomez who have a history of injuries, and as you say Quansah is still relatively unproven. We're not quite there but we saw in 20/21 how injuries decimated our season. I worry we could spiral into something similar if we don't strengthen and help out the current lads.

Van der Ven would have been the dream signing

Liverpool need to be proactive in the market and increase their odds of winning the league. 5 points ahead with 18 games to go is a good position that can become so much more with just a DM and CB imo.

LCB/LB is a big shout from FSG - likelyhood they scope the market in Jan and similar to Konate they'll set up a deal for later down the line. Excited for Thiago's swansong when he returns. Bajcetic is that '6' we're waiting for, but we have to do just that and not jump the gun. Forgetting how versatile Jones has shown us he can be and not needing to hit panic stations for a stop gap. This season Joe!

i'd be tempted to just give salah's position to harvey and see if he can hack it

I think you raise a good point about bringing someone in that could potentially stunt the growth of long term plans. I think the majority of frustrations and eagerness to make a signing in January comes back to how we’ve been too complacent in past January windows which have ultimately cost us league titles and european cups. In a perfect world, this window we grab a LCB and wait until summer to grab a fantastic 6.

As a thought process Yes a new DM could potentially block Basjecic......however, IF and it's a big IF, Basjecic turns out to have an injury record like Thiago or Keita We could miss out on 3 to 4 trophies and waste another year of Klopp I'd go with André, I think he and Basjecic can play 6 and 8 so good for rotating etc

I honestly don't think we need to make any additions this window. We only have 2 league games until the end of the month, at which time we'll have a few players coming back. There's zero point in making signings of senior players who won't get to play this season. Everyone is crying out for a LCB, but no one any good is going to sign, only to play when Van Dijk is unavailable. It also pushes Quansah down the pecking order. DM is another position that gets a lot of attention. Realistically, we have Endo, Mac Allister, and Bajcetic who can fill that role. Trent can also cover there. That gives us four players for one role. You have to look at the long term implications, because players who aren't playing are generally unhappy, and it will destroy the harmony within the squad.

I like the idea of buying in January. It gives us the added advantage of the players bedding in to be able to start the new season with some time spent getting to know our systems

Nice vid. Broadly agree with pretty much everything you said. Ignacio is a very interesting conundrum. He looks to be a perfect fit & his release clause means if we want him in the summer, there's no reason not to get him now,. We have the money seemingly, but do we want him? Easy for me to say but I think we'd be daft not to get sone first team ready defensive back up in, whoever that may be & Matip's injury surely makes it a no-brainer. Not holding my breath though.

Just up to the endo/macca part, when we think about a no. 6 it's a destroyer, we've often thought what if we had a ball playing 6 against low blocks. Now we have both types some people want us to buy a specialist 6. I agree Paul Endo is on the rise for us!

Endo reminds me of Lucas and I mean that as a compliment. Not world class like Fabinho but still does a solid job. A bit like what Obi Mikel was for Chelsea

Agree with everything you said here, I think. Squad list still has one non-hg slot after the summer clear out, presumably Matip can be swapped out, making room for two players to come in. Only other question is players like Williams and Phillips returning from loan. Used to be common for upcoming CBs to get experience at full back, I wonder if Rhys is a short term cover option there?

We need long term to replacements for aging players like Laws, Mathews, Daniels, VDS and Lawley. So many players out of contract this summer that we can also try and target in January to give us a boost include, Hemp (LW/FW), Hegerberg (ST), Roebuck (GK), Abelleira (MF), Cascarino (RW), Grosso (DM), Robinson (RW / LW) and Karchaoui (LB). We also need to start looking at players who can take over from Van Djik and Salah within the next 18 months too as I suspect both will end up in either Saudi or the MLS. Robertson will be 30 this year so, may need to start looking at his long term successor.

You don’t get to be captain of Japan for no reason, some of these great Japanese players at Celtic can’t even make the squad for Japan. Keep it up Endo

Bradley was mint… he pocketed a fresh Martinelli. Only winger better is Doku. He needs more game time. Gomez needs a rest soon so hope Beck will play in the cup.

The thing about Gomez is that he has replaced Trent on the right back years ago, and he did well in that short period. He could carry the ball and make assists. The weird thing is that whenever he’s been a center back, he’s seem to lose this quality. Is it maybe just so that his best position is on the full back anyways? Is he the player we need to replace Trent, to finally allow him to finally move up into the midfield? I start to think it is, and if so it’s another genius move by Klopp. No need for a full back is another 50M saved. Quansah could be another 50M saved in the longrun, same with Stefan. So all that is potential money saved to buy a successor for Salah, when the time comes.

I think we need to act fast on Inacio as he is quality and versatile. LB,CB and DM I don’t think we need too many players in January but you always strengthen when you’re on top . So adding 1-2 players in January can only help in the 2nd half of the season towards winning the title which must be priority

Can only see us doing something is we suddenly get another significant injury ... Klopp and the club aren't very good at reacting to needs when they haven't planned for it ... unless it's up front. Klopp finds it easier to buy forwards because he KNOWS they will get games. Even with FIVE senior attacking players, we are able to give them all good playing time. Which meant Gakpo and Diaz were snapped up without too much overthinking ... But the boss finds it much harder to justify buying mids and defenders due to having his senior choices and knowing they will always play when fit. All that said though, we SHOULD be replacing Matip at least.

I’d be happy if we just bought a right back but don’t think we’ll go for anyone. Pavard would’ve been ideal in the summer as he can cover a few positions but not sure he would’ve wanted to be a squad player.

Right winger and a centerback for me. Buy a defensive mid... then you have Endo, Macca and Stephan in one years time.. plus another DM. Trent could play there if we go to a 3,4,3 system just to mix things up.

Left footed CB is a priority for me. Not sure what the answer is but we need an experienced centre back in his mid-twenties of similar quality to Konate. Just too light at the back.

tbh I'd rather get a right sided CB the most. We already have Virj playing on the left, he's the captain, he's coming back into his top form, he's top. Behind him is Quansah who I both think is an increadible talent from everything I've seen. Was expecting him to have a big season if given the chance after what I saw in pre season and so far I was right, and also he's about to turn 21, he's young but not a kid, as long as he's not thrown in the deep end I think he'll be fantastic for us for years to come. The right side tho is matip (injured and probably leaving on a free), Ibu who is stellar but at least for now you need to regulate his minutes, def don't want him to fall into a muscular injury spiral. maybe in a year or so if he stays healthy he'll develop enough and be fine, maybe we always have to balance minutes, we'll see, and then Joe who has been way better at fullback and in his last like 10 cb games it's just been...... not good. Maybe he'd do better now he's on form, but I think he should remain a fullback, either help trent rest at times or move trent to midfield. Hell if we had LB's I'd have loved to see joe on the right and an experiment with trent on the wing maybe? or trent 8 szobo on the wing like he did in leipzig (though also injured now). But alas it won't happen with the injuries. But yeah, I prefer a right CB to cover for Ibu, Quansah has a ton of talent/potential but he's looked way better and more comfortable on the left side to me. Endo buys us a good chunk of time to look for the right fit for the long term, so no rush on that anymore for me, Macca does a role if needed, also want to see more Bajcetic and McConnel in time, both have potential, hope Stefan bounces back from the injury by next season.

Dunno what the fascination is with Hincapie, he's 2nd choice at Leverkusen, and he's extremely rash in his defending. Maybe he'd be coming in knowing that he's not 1st choice, I suppose, but for me, if he isn't good enough for them, he isn't good enough for us. Far too expensive to be a 2nd choice defender as well!

I agree with your points here. I think the priority for January/summer is a LCB who can do a decent job at LB and someone who can cover/play alongside Salah. The obvious dream player for that is Mbappe but I think I'll see flying pigs before that happens. He'll either take another big wedge at PSG or he'll go to Madrid. A top quality CDM would be great but if Bajcetic can get over these injuries, I think he'll be a top player.

honestly, we'll obviously miss salah, but i think we have more than enough cover, injuries permitting. Harvey, Jones, Soboz, Nunez, Gakpo, Jota (give or take most of them only appeared on the left before-but probably because salah is there) i would back to do a good enough job before you bring any other kids into it. I would think we would line up: (short term injuries permitting) Ali > Trent, Konate, VVD, Gomes > Jones, Macca, Soboz > Diaz, Jota, Nunez January was always the perfect time for milner to fill any holes, damn i miss him. Prio (in jan) should be a Matip replacement (that could cover FB would be great), and a thiago replacement (maybe another macca type player that can do a bit of everything).

Gomez came in as a LB when he played under Rodgers. iirc he only left that slot once he got injured

We're over half way through the season and we're top of the league by 3 points having only lost 1 game in the league all season in a match that was manipulated by a referee who is now banned from officiating our games in any capacity. Think we're definitely title challengers at this point.

You’re seeing everyone talk about what happens if Konate and/or Gomez pick up an injury. What no one is talking about is, what if Quansah has a Bajcetic type injury the ends his season early? Then all our fit center half’s have to play every game.

If we could get a left footed centre back who can also play left back that is Premier League quality but not high profile enough to warrant a high fee or regular starting berth, I know a guy. David Hancko at Feyenoord is who I'd be signing.

I think macallister should just be an 8 and endo should rotate with someone we either sign for the specialist dm or bajcetic. I really think that if we signed Palhinha it would've been so nice for the league run in and the later stages of the cups. I think winning the league becomes way more of a possibility with Palhinha but ah well. We still can do it without ofc but it would've been nice I guess if we got him but liverpool aren't signing anyone

With Inacio could he be moulded into a 6 has all the attributes, we’ve seen klopp do it with other players and could drop into centre back in case of injuries.

LCB who can play LB would be nice for sure, but in reality I can see us not signing anybody. Not sure why anybody is making out that Gomez playing LB has any impact on how Trent is played, it's not like Trent has played actual midfield and him and Gomez have played together when Gomez played RB. Trent has played the same as inverted RB going back and forth to midfield, nothing has changed for Trent just because Gomez is having to play LB.

Inacio has a 52 million release clause I believe so if we are willing to match that there’s nothing Sporting can do I’m not expecting us to do anything but hopefully I’m wrong

Pretty much all of the kids bar Quansah just aren’t close enough to be considered squad players for me i.e. they could do a job for a decent run of games. We haven’t invested in full backs in years, largely as Milner never got injured and could play either sides. We’re playing with fire by relying on Gomez and the drop off is scary from then on

The full back thing is interesting, I think the hardest part was that Trent and Robbo have been both best in class and also in their prime age. Meaning at best you're buying backups (like Kostas)

So much panic amongst fans at the conclusion of Summer transfer window ( Chelseas 2nd victory in the transfer window tournament. )..but Klopp as always Knows better...Rotating the players keeping fitness levels up and dressing room spirit high..I think back and can't remember Bob Paisley ever saying " I need a new CDM or Left sided Centre back " so much crap stirred up by media now and teams insisting they need 2 and 3 players in each position. Total crap . Quansah certainly having a better season than Colwill ..Endo better than Caicedo and Top of Table , semi final of league Cup and qualifying for next round of Europa league with a game to spare backs up Klopp and his recruitment teams wisdom

It feels like we are chasing a unicorn; a left footed centre back who could play as an elite left back for now / cover for VVD, and eventually replace him? I can see why they might not find them, in Jan especially. I don’t see them making a panic / stopgap buy, as you would be stuck with a 6thCB / 3rdLB. It would be good though, even just to ease the pressure on Konate, Gomez and Quansah’s bodies once the fixtures kick in again. If one of them goes down we will need to rely on the kids

Endo has been excellent… Liv hardly concede any goals when he plays. Bajetic will be back soon…. He was Liv player of the year last year before injury (ask Salah). He will be our and Spain cdm for whole decade.

Probably unrealistic but with his deal running out in the summer, would love to get kimmich 🎉 Failing that I think push Trent into midfield who has been sensational this season! What a player has to be alongside Bellingham and rice in that England mid, perfect trio. And go all out for hakimi (1st) or frimpong (2nd choice). Then definitely need a cb (most importantly) now with matips injury in January. Would really like hinacipie but don’t know if that’s possible until summer. Don’t think we need a LB as long as we get a cb Gomez has been exceptional, glad my faith in him has been repaid. Tell you what let’s go for broke and get all 3 hinacipie, hakimi and kimmich 😂 quadruple here we come!!!

You pay the Ps. You think Costacurta complained that he wasn't starting over Maldini or Nesta or Stam? Competition is good. Keeps everyone on their toes. We cannot trust Gomez, Konate and Matip to stay fit. We cannot rely on a young Quansah. We must not burden VVD with holding down the backline.

Yeah it's tough, but that's why you have to target someone who can do both positions. It's as much about upgrading Tsimikas and replacing Matip in the short term. Medium term is rotating with Virg and Robbo.

Owen Beck might be the real deal 🤔 Andy Robertson played for Dundee United.......

We are not signing anyone in January because our owners don't care about titles, they see we are getting the top 4 and UCL money so their job is done for this season

I believe it'll be daft not to bring in a CB this month. We can get a long-term replacement for Matip, whilst not expecting Quansah to play a high amount of premier league minutes for the rest of the season. Quansah has decent, but we shouldn't be overly reliant on him.

Nah. I think different players take different times to adapt. Also Darwin has 16 goals contributions so far this season (he got 20 in ALL of last, and Firmino only got 18). Szobo already has 4 goals (and 2 assists) which is a brilliant return so far for a Liverpool/Klopp midfielder. For reference the most last season was Elliot with 5, and the season before was Fabinho with 8.

Id go for Inacio tbh in Jan

Liverpool now more than ever have to be pro active. We ARE in a title race. This is a HUGE opportunity to win the prem. The prem will only be getting tougher and tougher to win from now. We have to supplement the team and back up the twilight years of VVD and Salah. This could be a glorious season. We need to go for it in the Jan market.

For the 6 I’d only dip into the market for a potentially elite player If there was someone on the market with the vision and creativity of Mac Allister but the steel of Endo then I’d break the bank to make it happen I miss the balls in behind and switches of play from Fabinho, he was world class for us and I don’t think people appreciated how good he was at passing the ball never mind breaking up the play

I don't see any in the market to improve us and play to Klopp style. Heard good news that Bajetic finally back in Feb!! Klopp banking our future on him. Salah said he was our best player of season until injury. 6ft 2 or maybe 6-3 or 6-4 by time he grows up, silky skills like Alonso, bite of Fab at best.. pace and loves tackles. Heard Spain has high hopes for him.. was in U21 squad at 19 and got his debut.

Looking at this emotionally though, I want to grab Klopp and scream about having a GOLDEN opportunity this season .... We can GENUINELY win this league, but these international competitions and injuries are pushing us to a tipping point, and I think Klopp knows it. It would be SOUL CRUSHING to see City just casually move past us again if our squad gets stretched too much. The boss looked a bit glum today, and I just pray he's not hiding something like the SoBoz injury being worse than he made it out to be. He looks like a man who has a squad that is now past being able to use rotation too much. And recalling some of the fringe players is a worrying sign.

Recalling Owen Beck makes good sense. We need him right now. Joe Gomez cannot play every match at left back, and Beck is playing well. I am less optimistic about Carvalho but Nat Phillips has put some good shifts in for us before.

I know Chelsea have been shit this year and I know Colwill has played virtually all those games and he extended his contract, but if Chelsea could sell their captain, they could also sell the left sided CB. I feel under a better manager and a brilliant teacher in VVD, Colwill has such a high ceiling, I would spend £55Million for him. As for any other position I would wait until the summer. I know we aren’t going to get Mbappe, but I don’t want us to close that door. I want us to be the option if Real mess it up.

If Nunez hits his stride and converts a few of those chances, we'll be fine!

Why not try and win it all? Go out and get Gonçalo Inácio and André, both are young so fit the model?? I know André isn't the tallest but why has it gone silent?

I think Endo proving his worth, and getting Gravenverch for the 8 (meaning Mac is more free to play 6) has played a part in not moving for Andre. Be interesting if they go back for him in the summer or move on to someone else.

Is it really a sensible argument to talk about players being goosed the season after? If CIty thought like that I don't think there would be that many titles or back to back titles. Not playing a player frequently in the spring because he might be goosed the season after sounds a bit weird. We fell apart because players were "done" in relation to their ambitions and probably in some sense in the managers ambition + the age factor.

I want us to smash arsenal, they think we aren't bothered. I mean I do agree based on fans totally not expecting or demanding transfers this month. This complacency is ick, we should be demanding success not a half season push or semi finals. Cmon lets go for all four. But that also equals buying and strengthening coz the mids thin for top notch players and thats after one injury to dom

It's telling that Endo won our December POTM ahead of everyone else. It's seemed this season that, no matter what, Salah would be voted the winner of the award every month even despite poor form, but Endo has deservedly took it off him.

I think we're not being proactive in a vital area, right wing. Until we see if Mo signs a new contract or not? Not wanting to rock the boat with Mo. I think we need to go and raid west ham for Mr B. I know it's a devisive choice in the fan base, but the lad is quality, home grown. Pl proven, and a real team player.
