    The dinosaur models' creators did an incredible job of trying to bring these beautiful creatures to life in the most epic way possible, which is what makes Dinosaur King such a beloved franchise. This video was also very insightful, interesting and instructive to see - can't wait for the now up-to-date paleontologic analysis of the fire-type dinosaurs too! 🔥

    The tail thing might be due to to the fact that some of the attack animations in Dinosaur King game require the dinosaurs to use their tail as a weapon or be grabbed by an opponent. I like how you’ve handled general issues seen throughout the franchise first, then moved onto each animal in a case by case basis, which saves on repetition. I wonder if move and special dinosaurs will have their own videos, or be lumped with the type they fit in with. Like Pawpawsaurus in with earth, Deinonychus with wind, etc.

  • @BioniclesaurKing4t2
    @BioniclesaurKing4t24 ай бұрын

    I've always appreciated Dinosaur King's use of CG models for the dinos instead of standard anime animation, because that always loses size and perspective (and color patterns) between shots, can be stretched or folded during action shots, and goes wonky when zoomed way out. With the models, they can take the same 3D identity and place it in a scene and it will always look consistent from any angle, plus it really draws attention to them as being special, not to mention making the fight scenes and Move Cards look awesome. All of that, and most of them are fairly accurate (I've seen hand-drawn cartoon T. rexes, and they still haunt my nightmares), or at least accurate at the time (Spinosaurus, Megaraptor, Agustinia), and that's really rare. Speaking of rare, I also love the obscure species they sprinkle in: everyone knows Ankylosaurus, everyone has an Ankylosaurus, but who has one and instead main-cast features Saichania? Dinosaur King is the dinosaur franchise lifelong dinosaur fans like me deserve.

    I frankly think its really cool and smart and sexy to use dubious genera to represent infraspecific variation. Obviously they would want each species to have a single model, but that prevents them from showing how variable these animals were in life. Using synonyms of species you already have lets to assign different names to the same animal, solving the problem. Not entirely sure if this was their intention, but I love the idea and it’d be kinda cool to see other dinosaur games use it (as long as it is explained ingame that these genera are synonymous). You could even expand the idea to ontogeny with synonyms like Stygimoloch and Nanotyrannus, to show off the strange ways in which these animals grew without needing to code a growth mechanic. Plus a lot of dubious genera just sound cool and its sad that we no longer have uses for them (rip Monoclonius)

    Obviously these are extremely accurate. Dinosaurs are well-documented for their ability to shoot lightning, and of course, the relationship between dinosaurs and trading cards, is something paleontologists have been studying for decades. Cave paintings of children summoning their dinosaurs to fight predators can be found to this day at Vasquez Rocks.

    Excellent video! The only critique I would like to point out, is that Zuniceratops' tail is the correct proportion to its body. Its tail wasn't like those of ceratopsids, but instead, long and flat without the droop in the hips, much more similar to protceratopsids and leptoceratopsids, as one of the ancestral conditions of basal ceratopsians. Its one of the many traits Zuniceratops possessess that makes it a fascinating missing link between basal ceratopsians and the derived ceratopsids.

    Spoilers for the show.👇 From my memory of the show, so if anything is wrong, oops. 😅 The main reason why Dinosaur King's dinosaurs many are from the Cretaceous period is rooted in the lore. Two paleontologists Dr. Ancient and his wife Dr. Cretacia stumbled upon a stone tablet with detachable parts, each representing different elements. Upon studying it, they discovered that the tablet originated from space, landing on Earth alongside the meteor that marked the end of the dinosaur era. Embedded on the stones were the emotions and life of the dinosaurs that perished in that catastrophic event, seeking help. The paleontologists also learned that they could travel through time. A team formed by the two paleontologists, a scientist, his two grandkids, and adopted "kids" (who acted more like servants), and Seth, his assistant, utilized the power of the stones and future technology to transform dinosaurs into cards. Their mission was to protect the dinosaurs, and they traveled to different periods, spending the most time in the Cretaceous, explaining why many are from that period. They planned to go back to the year 2127 using the stones to take the dinosaurs back to the future. However, Dr. Z, with Seth his three adopted kids/servants(Ursula, Ed and Zander), harnessed future power to make move cards, making dinosaurs into weapons. When the paleontologist couple discovered this, they confronted Dr. Z, who seemingly stopped, prompting the need for a quick departure. Since Dr. Cretacia, unknowingly pregnant, planned to return after their son grown a bit , Dr. Z betrayed them during time travel, ejecting the couple's baby into a time wormhole. The baby landed in the present, where the anime and games unfold. Due to a Time Machine accident crashed into the same timeline as Rex that same baby now a kid. Most stones and cards scattered across Earth. The alpha gang, led by Dr. Z, obtained the fire, water, and earth stones.
