How a wound heals itself - Sarthak Sinha

View full lesson: ed.ted.com/lessons/how-a-wound...
Our skin is the largest organ in our bodies, with a surface area of about 20 square feet in adults. When we are cut or wounded, our skin begins to repair itself through a complex, well-coordinated process. Sarthak Sinha takes us past the epidermis and into the dermis to investigate this regenerative response.

The body is a miracle. We think of ourselves as one lonely person, but each and everyone of us is a myriad of co-operating cells - a huge complex system of small parts who have slowly learned to strengthen and support eachother to create quite an incredible whole being, capable of consciousness and art and altruism. I think there is a profound beauty in that.

just don't pick your skin no matter what. have a trained professional do it if necessary. also actively research what products and ingredients work best for you and work on a regime to prevent acne. if you notice that your skin has turned darker when a pimple is gone, that isn't acne. It's postinflammatory hyperpigmentation; or more color after swelling and it will fade over time while scars stick forever.

I recently got a deep carpet burn. It was close to the dermis, but luckily it wasn't that far. Right now it is at the third stage. I put some cream that helps it so it doesn't get infected, and I felt it getting hard. My body is doing so well with that. I could barely walk on it the first 2 days. Day 4, able to walk on it

The video is very instructive and informative. It could also have explained why scar tissues form? The new skin looks like a piece of bald head, no hair or sweat pores either. Surgical incisions also leave scar tissues. I have three such scar tissues: a tiny patch on the forehead, on left knee and of course in the lower back which was operated on a decade back.
