These are our unsung heroes whose stories came to light only because of vibrant media including the new age social media. He was first interviewed by Arshad Sharif in ARY Channel. Our state mouthpieces including our Air Force never acknowledged the extraordinary courageous sacrifices of our heroes. Legendary MMAlam was also in Syria during 1973 Arab Israel war supervising the Damascus air space security. But like Air Commodore Alvi Alavi , his contribution was never told, narrated officially during the Annual Airforce day 7th September. Even they never presented MMAlam as the only Ace FIghter pilot of the subcontinent. Rather the Alam colleagues tried to malign Alams extraordinary shoot out of Indian planes during 65 air battle of Sargodha.Alam remained the victim of PAF senior colleagues jealousy rest of his life . He was later facilitated by the junior pilots for his pension and accomodation facilities. Even we never brought back the bodies of Sq.Leader Sarfraz Rafiqui and Younus Hassan Shaheeds from India where they were burried after Shahadat during 1965 air war. Most recently the father of.the Pakistan Nuclear programme Dr.AbdulQadeer Khan died and neither the Prme Minister nor the President and even the Defence Chiefs attended his funeral. What sort of thankless people we are?

It was the government policy to not openly declare this secondment to the Arab air forces as Pakistan did not want a diplomatic incident with Israelis and their western allies. Otherwise this is well recorded in the official PAF history, I have the official history volumes with me. Even in the 1971 war, kills scored by Pakistan Air Force were higher than the score of Indian Air Force. PAF won over IAF by a 3-to-1 kill ratio. However there were major logistical issues which can easily be observed even today with a 2 seconds look at map of Bangladesh (East Pakistan) and Pakistan (West Pakistan). Since PAF's reinforcements were blocked and it was "extremely" outnumbered, of course there was a limit to which the impressive bravado and tactics could extend survival. Because 3-to-1 kill ratio effectively meant that the enemy loses 3 aircraft and gets another 3 ready, while PAF loses1 aircarft and replacement for it cannot arrive. From the encircling Indian air bases around East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), ten squadrons of the IAF challenged the PAF’s only squadron No. 14 located at Dhaka. These PAF's "Tail Choppers of 1965" rose to meet the aggressors, and before their squadron was grounded by a bombed out runway, they and their ack ack gunners had destroyed 23 IAF aircraft. The PAF’s Mirages, B-57s, Sabers, F-6s and a few F-104s spearheaded Pakistan’s retaliation from the west. At war’s end IAF had lost 130 aircraft in all. The three-to-one kill ratio that Pakistan scored, however, could not prevent the tragic fall of Dhaka.

There is saying, Pakistan might win some battles but it always looses the war. Pakistani army had done some brilliant tactical feats including say Kargil. But it always fails in its ultimate objectives. The reason of it is its lack of institutional decision making, over glorification of its military might and prowess and no accountability. Pakistani birth itself was in a state of confusion and it has no yet reconciled with the what is the idea of Pakistan. India had a hangover of Gandhian principles and looked weak in terms of its military ability and its ability to give it back to ISI. However in the last 20 odd years, with its economic might increasing, India government is slowly making its military more modernized and is giving it the required political freedom to fight it out.

@U. A. 1947 and 1965 never concluded. They were stopped midway because both countries ran out of resources. 1971 and 1999 were absolute disasters for Pakistan. And no, it is absolute nonsense that PAF had a 3:1 ratio. I think it was some American who said that. You need to read books, not google. I have read almost 50 accounts of all Indo-Pak wars. Kaiser Tufail, who is your own air commodore, explains it perfectly in his book, which also matches with the books of other Indian and Pakistani pilots. Pakistan had US support, and therefore had air-to-air missiles on it's planes. IAF only had guns. And yet the PAF was knocked out of the air, while everyone expected it to be an easy victory for the PAF. PAF neither could provide CAS nor could provide strategic bombing raids. Absolute disaster. Pakistan has only one thing that sometimes gives it an edge over India, it's air force. The Navy is lacklustre and the army suffers from a complex paradox, i.e., too much expectations based on the armymen's tribe, heritage or culture, which quite frankly has no place in modern warfare since the time of Napoleon. This is the reason why Pakistan lost in 1971, 1984 and 1999. And for the love of god, please be a logical person. I am a practical person, i don't mind accepting hard facts or criticizing India, Pakistan or anyone. All that matters to me is truth, logic and the fact that peace is the ultimate target. Very, very few Pakistanis actually think logically and i don't have the will power to engage with a fanatic. Kindly respond only if you are a logical and practical person.

Listen to his comments from the 2:20 mark - wow! His words need to be broadcast day and night, that attitude is the attitude we need in our country, that single minded persuit of excellence. These men were the very best, they knew they were the very best and they strained every single fibre of their being to the max, every single day to ensure they were the best. Excellence was not from arrogance, but from a sense of duty to their nation - that it deserves nothing less.

During the 1967 Six-Day War, Saiful Azam 🇧🇩 became the only fighter pilot to have downed *four Israeli aircraft* 🇧🇩🇧🇩 Born in a remote area in Bangladesh’s central district of Pabna in 1941, he spent his childhood in the Indian city of Kolkata with his father. After the partition of the Indian subcontinent in 1947, his family migrated to Bangladesh (then East Pakistan). According to the South Asia-based analytical website Roar Media, Azam left home at the age of 14 for higher secondary education in then West Pakistan (now Pakistan). In 1958 he was admitted to Pakistan Air Force Cadet College, where he completed his education as a pilot officer. Popular defence blog Fighter Jets World also recorded that after learning the fundamentals of aviation in Pakistan, Azam was sent for advanced air combat training at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. During the 1965 India-Pakistan war he also downed an Indian warplane, encouraging Pakistani forces to stand against India with limited warfare tools. The act was widely applauded in Pakistan, which awarded Azam Pakistani’s Star of Courage (Sitara-e-Jurat) medal, the third-most prestigious award of its military.

We need to tell our kids that Superman, Ironman are just stories and urban legends of fictional characters.
