He's got almost like a "quick twitch" reaction unlike anything I've ever seen. You're correct he can go from jog to run to shuffle faster than anybody else, but combine that with his instinct and bball IQ...he's something special. If he can develop a shot he's going to be amazing

When two of the very best defenders in the NBA are rookies, who also happen to be twin brothers... yeah, there's no defense in the NBA, let alone the most talented pool of defenders.

Anyone that says people don’t play defense anymore is buggin, but to be fair it’s just easier to play offense. Things like carries and travels are barely ever called anymore, the gather step has become a whole different animal, and other stuff like def. 3 seconds and more stringent officiating in general have made it a lot harder to defend without drawing a whistle. If anything though, it just makes elite defense in the modern NBA all the more impressive; guys who can get physical and keep their hands active without fouling gotta try way harder than in the past. There are just objective advantages that offensive players have been given in recent decades that have changed defense and made it harder to play. I feel like when people have discussions about this it always comes down to whether offensive players have more freedom or whether they’ve become more skilled, but I think it’s pretty obviously both.

Shai didn’t play against Houston 🤦‍♂️ that thumbnail is misleading. Shai would have cooked Thompson. Josh Giddey dropped 31 points that night ffs. Joe 17, Wiggins 16 off the bench. Our guards were having a field day 😅

Brooks kinda overrated on defense always make dumb fouls Thompson already better than him on defense.
