How a Compact Bender Works

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

www.tipsbytom.com/index.php/ho... Tom Demonstrates how to make a hook with a 20/20 Compact Bender from Shop Outfitters.
The 20/20 Compact Bender is a versatile metal bending tool. The compact bender is designed to bend round, square, and flat strap hot rolled steel. Optional tubing dies are available for both round and square tubing. Dies come in sizes ranging from 1/2″ to 1 1/4″. If you want to bend 1″ or 1 1/4″ tubing the optional leverage multiplier kit is required to bend these larger size steel tube.
The 20/20 Compact Bender is more than just a tubing bender; sharp right angle bends are possible with an attachment called a right angle attachment. The right angle attachment come standard with the metal bender. Steel stock as large as 3/16″ X 2″ can be bent with a sharp angle.
Make sure and leave plenty of room behind the tubing bender. This will allow for bending 1″ and 1 1/4″ tubing. The larger size tubing tends to swing far behind the metal bender when working with long lengths of metal tubing.
Ornamental iron enthusiasts will enjoy experimenting with the attachments that are available through Shop Outfitters. The Picket Twister allows for 1/2″ square or 3/16″ X 1″ hot rolled strap to be twisted into pickets. The Scroll Bender bends metal into scrolls out of either 3/16″ flat steel or 1/4″ round steel.
There are many projects that can be built using this metal bender. I use mine for building handrails, small brackets, go cart frames, guard rails, the list is endless. The example I show in this article is of a steel frame manlift. It was a specialty design for Mercil Construction. It fits on the forks of their lift. The platform is a steel plate and the guardrail was built using a compact bender.

Nice camera work to the Mrs's. Most of these types of videos simply have a camera on a tripod. I appreciate the way the camera moved around to show the bender from different angles.

Cameraman is the wife. She works for "free". Too expensive to get rid of her. Check out the rest of our work on tips by tom or tools by tom!

I want to make a big question mark hoop curve out of a 5/16 round rod to hang a 16" round ball from with a turning motor hanging from top of the question, I estimate I need about 22" hoop with about 4" strait horizontal rod on top of the question mark and about 6 inces straight down perpendicular at the other. to weld to a bracket. Can I do this with this with this bender? I have mostly just seen people demo sharp turns and 90 degree turns with this on youtube. Can you advise will this do big hoops with round stock, or do I need the 12 Ton Hydraulic Pipe Bender for that?

Looking to retrofit this compact bender utilizing dies for round tubing. The benefit is to save room an not have to setup yet another bender. - Intro music is way too loud.

That little "thing" you put under the square block is actually a stop pin for making repeat bends. It's not used for what you showed.

I realize you posted this 2 years ago, but anyway - here ya go. The offset hole is used for different thickness materials. You swivel the block so as each of four different face lock against your work piece, using whichever face provides the narrowest opening to help clamp the workpiece better.
