How a Benelli M4 Super 90 works

Ойындар

The Benelli M4 Super 90 is an Italian semi-automatic shotgun manufactured by Benelli Armi SpA.
On May 4, 1998, the United States Army's Armaments Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey issued Solicitation #DAAE30-98-R-0401, requesting submissions for a new 12 gauge, semi-automatic combat shotgun for the U.S. military. In response to the request, Benelli Armi SpA of Urbino, Italy designed and built the Benelli M4 Super 90 Combat Shotgun. On August 4, 1998, five samples of the M4 were delivered to Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, and after intense testing, the M4 had beaten the competition. In early 1999, ARDEC awarded the M1014 Joint Service Combat Shotgun contract to Heckler & Koch, American subsidiary for importation of the Benelli M4 Combat Shotgun. The first units (count of 20,000) were delivered to the United States Marine Corps in 1999. During testing, the prototype was named XM1014, but after adoption, the 'X' was dropped, and the weapon was officially designated the M1014.

Really? That’s weird. I disliked it for that weird intro text, I assumed I’d be looking at a real gun with at least a voiceover. The voiceover being a low db moment with the firing of the gun being the loud part. Not some generic sampled effect lol! Way too cautious disclaimer text… gotta be a parody video.

Wow gaming kids are hilarious with their wording ( instead shell/cartridge/round calling it bullets). Their disabled brains are not able to comprehend basic functions of firearms they are using while spending 12 hours per day in basement. You have damn guns on your eyes constantly and some people for example wont be able to tell on which side case is ejected on guns they are "maining" in csgo garbage.

Thank you for the video. I know that it took a great deal of time to produce, and I DO appreciate that. BUT, the whole point of the video is to carefully follow the internal workings of the parts. Having the gun JERK BACK every time a round is fired makes it extremely difficult to follow the instantaneous internal functioning of the parts. We all know that the gun jerks back when fired....we don't need to see that. A BETTER animation would have been to have had the gun as immovable whilst the internal parts are functioning. I have had to move on to other videos for education because this recoil jerking is too visually disruptive. (Sorry).

I don't think this adequately conveys the gas pressure operating the action or the details of exactly what the rotating bolt is doing and how it acts upon the shell. Those are arguably the most critical elements in the operation of the shotgun, so I think the video leaves how the gun operates somewhat mysterious. An animation of the movement of gas pressure upon the piston and a slow-motion transparent close-up of bolt rotation would probably be enough to make clear exactly how the gun extracts and ejects the spent shell after firing. Outside of what happens between firing and ejection, everything appears clearly demonstrated. I think I can see how it all works. I'd love to see competitive semi-automatic shotgun designs demonstrated like this, especially the Beretta. The Beretta 1301 is the competitor to the Benelli M4, and the Beretta A400 hunting shotguns use the same method of operation.

So we are to believe that the inertia of the recoil compresses the spring, that then unlocks the bolt after all pressure is released from the barrel.... Then what force moves the bolt and carrier rearward to eject the shell and pick up a new one. I'm going out on a limb and saying this video is bullshit, and this is a delayed blow-back system that used the pressure in the barrel to both unlock the bolt and to move the bolt carrier backward. That little spring is there to absorb the initial inertia and delay the rearward motion of the bolt to allow more acceleration on the projectile to occur.
