pretty cool how an animation is teaching you about animation while being animated
Love the presentation, the way I incorporate them both in my workflow is like this. Fk is used for everything up until I want them to not move for example if I have a character walk up to a trash I switch my arms into IK once they grab onto it so when I move my character around my arms will be stationary as if it’s actually holding the garbage can still.
Not trying to 3d animate my time soon but DAMN this is informative!
They stand for forward kinematics and inverse kinematics respectively. There's a lot more going on, but it was a good explanation!
this is bringing my 3D animating studies back to my memory lol
As someone who doesn't animate and was confused at first, this was very helpful and appreciated this.
Even if I never plan on 3D animation, this definitely helps me understand the computer lingo tossed around now and then in VRChat.

As a game art student, this is actually surprisingly useful information what- I haven't even gotten to the animation side of my degree yet, but you've already gotten me hooked haha.
Oh, so that’s why IK is such a talked about thing in gamedev, neat
okay but why did this help me learn the difference-
I’ve always wondered what the difference between those two were this was very informative excellent work
i swear i can learn more from this channel than any Art classes at school 💀
This was really well explained. Tbh as an animator I never knew what the difference other than that fact that they worked differently, with IK and FK controls on the rig. But now they make so much more sense. And will probably help me a ton. Thanks!
ahhhh so that’s the difference between the models i use for making pose references (IK) and pre-made models i typically see in animation rigs (FK), i always wondered why they felt so different
As someone who is not and never will do 3d animation, this is very helpful
Hey man! Unfortunately it seems the captions for this are under the video title text on mobile, so its not really legible. It's not just you, I have noticed this on other videos from creators new to shorts as well! I loved the full video this clip is from, very informative and clear!
This actually helped me understand how arm poses and stuff like that are handled in vr games, really cool
The only clear 3d animation tutorial I've seen explained clearly

as a 3D animator myself, this actually helped make my animations better, thanks!
Even though i dont animate this is fun to watch:)
As a game design student I am very glad to have stumbled across this video
This is a really good example. A VR game I play uses IK for arm tracking and this helped explain it better! Tysm!
This video actually helped me realize something about VR. Mostly all of the time your arms will be animated in IK, while the rest of you (more specifically your legs) is in FK And this is because your arms and legs have different movement conditions: where you aren't tracking your legs at all, to only tracking your "hands" so your legs can move a lot smoother and rounder, your arms have to stay attached to the thing they're attached to
