Doodley

Doodley

My hope is to make animation and 3D videos that are fun to watch for anyone, not just animators and 3D artists.

This is currently my full-time job, so please consider supporting me at patreon.com/doodley!

I use Autodesk Maya, but if you're new to animation, you should use Blender. If you have any other questions, please check my FAQ: bit.ly/doodleyfaq

You can link to this channel at doodley.org/

The thing is substantive kids content on youtube can exist like Stampy but that only exiss because of the good intentions of the creator, and is disincentivised by youtube for meaningless sensory videos.

It sucks that children’s shows have either become a quick easy cash grab or an agenda push that doesn’t teach anything, or is just sucky and unimaginative writing

We got any Martha Speaks lovers in chat? I really miss those shows that aired on PBS while I was growing up. Some of my favorites was Martha Speaks, Zoboomafoo, Between the Lions, Ruff Ruffman, Odd Squad... Growing up homeschooled and without internet, cable or video games (Yes. My parents were THAT type of parents.), I had plenty of time to tune into PBS and watch these shows. My parents also bought a lot of stuff on DVD and VHS, so I got a healthy dosing of Veggie Tales, 321 Penguins (underrated show that you should totally go watch), Loony Tunes, Rocky and Bullwinkle, The Adventures of TinTin (the show, not the movie), and more! Something interesting that I find about my childhood shows is that I can still go back and watch them, and they are still enjoyable and charming. Part of that is because they have little jokes and things that the kids won't notice or get, but are there for the adults watching. Can't say that about modern kids shows like cokomelon. I cringe if I see a single frame of those shows. Bluey is fine. I like Bluey. I miss my childhood shows. I should tune into my local PBS station and see what reruns are playing, clean a few DVDs and dust off some VHS tapes. Luckily, I still have a DVD and VHS player! :D Edit: Just remembered JJ the Jet Plane (I'm almost scared to look that one up), Bob the Builder, Dinosaur Train, and of course, Curious George. Can't believe I forgot about my buddy Bob!

I don't think I agree with this. Its acceptable to me with 2D drawings and i get the point of it and its artistic merit, but It's jarring in 3D and feels like it's being done for budgetary reasons. Sorry.

havent watched the video but just from the title I'm already saying "Yes! Yes yes yes!!" I was just watching Rise of the Planet of the Apes the other day and thinking exactly this. Serkis drives the performance from underneath, but the creative decisions and technique and effort that went into making such readable, interesting, and engrosing expression on ape faces is truly breathtaking. One of the ones that stood out to me especially the other day was Buck the gorilla reacting to Ceasar talking for the first time, what a choice!
