Honestly the best video on this channel. The editing and visuals are spot-on and the story being told is nothing short of incredible. Even the music choice sets the castaway and bittersweet tone perfectly (if anyone's curious, the song is called "The Barriers Between Us" by Eoin Mantell.) Alvarenga's journey was unimaginably strenuous, and I can't fathom how much mental tenacity it took for him to see this hellish voyage through. Top notch, RLL, for shouting him out.

Sued of eating the man he watched lose his sanity and eventually starve to death, who he presumably threw overboard at the brink of desparation, knowing that now he'd be all alone now, continuing this drift with an uncertain course and end.

There are people who survived way longer than this but died at the end. The worse thing that can happen to you while stranded in the ocean is that there is no wind at all. You will be stuck at where ever you are and remain there. This man at least had a decent boat although small size and had someone with him although he gave up or couldn't continue any further. I watched steven callahans survival in the ocean his boat sunk and he had one of those orange small plastic emergency tent which lasts up to 4 weeks, was blown by a fish, his spear got also broken by a huge fish, he got multiple occasions with sharks he got salt sickness because of too much contact with ocean water his skin fell off and he had more than 100 open wounds what that man went through in 75 days is crazy. Records are always about the longest or biggest which doesn't make any sense to me. When it comes to hardship, yeah those people who survived for years, who knows what they went through...

It's scary to think that right now there is probably someone else lost at sea that nobody knows about. Maybe in a couple hundred days we'll hear their story.... if they make it!

I always wondered if there's sea creatures so far out there that we have not yet discovered and are probably very huge like a Kraken.

Imagine all them cold rainy nights of hopelessness and worry. The soreness from sitting in a boat, eating disgusting things. That guy really wanted to live. He won the challenge of how bad you want to live. I need to see this guy interviewed. How about a movie?

This record is ranked at num 2 but is significantly more impressive than number1 which happened in a well stocked trade ship. Three of fifteen survived (13 bodies recovered) 484 days. The others died from scurvy. Interestingly there were two separate reports of the crews original size being thirty-five men.
