Hi Nick! Greetings from Australia. I got myself an Australis Lisa about a year ago. It came in peat moss. I placed it in a well lit spot and let it settle for a couple of weeks without watering it and then, when it was time to water it, instead of watering it, I repotted it into a chunky mix of regular good quality potting mix, orchid bark, perlite and clay balls. Then I gave it a good thorough watering and did not water it again until it was almost completely dry. I treat mine as though it were a succulent and let it almost dry all the way through between waterings. I am not in a warm part of Australia, but I have mine on a window sill that receives dappled afternoon sunlight. I do not have a humidifier or grow light and I would say that my home is cooler than average. It has grown so much! I don't know if any of this will help you, but you never know! I am thrilled to see Hoyas coming down in price!

Fred Meyer had F. shiveriana at $29.99 in cache pots. It looked like one store got a heat stressed shipment. All had lost a lower leaf or a few leaves, and most had some crispy edges, and they just didn't look perky. Then (of course) the staff over-watered them. But they were marked down to $6.24, so I bought one, with my retiree discount, $5.61. Took it out of the pot and set the soil mass on a towel for an hour. It perked up, so I went back a few days later and bought another. If they still have any tomorrow, I'm going to get a third and plant them together next year. It's a stunner and is the first plant I've bought in three years. Like you, I was in the trade as a buyer for 10 years and worked professionally with plants off and on since the '70s, at one point, my career. I don't believe I've posted on your excellent videos before, but you're certainly a truther! Thank you.

I was doing a college campus tour this summer and saw a 6-foot-tall variegated aurellia (the one with the round leaves with variegated edges, pretty much a Lowe's staple) in one of the offices, and fell in love with it. I didn't know these things can actually grow into a statement piece like a fiddle leaf fig. Between the wonky woody stems and the leaf canopy that is turned to the window, it was amazing.

If I repot them... they do the whole "sleep, sleep, sleep, creep... die" thing. So try leaving this one in that pot for a few years and see how it does. It may surprise you! Almost all of my Hoyas are covered in pudunkles (but only the ones in their original pots) so it seems to be working well for me so far...

Maybe the Quito is just named after the capital of Ecuador since it is native to Ecuador

Dracaena Goldieana 100 dollars? 120 dollars? What the heck, I bought one for only $18.99 in Canada last year. Who were selling those for that much money? Let me guess; Etsy sellers?

hey just fyi ''quito'' doesn´t really mean anything in spanish. ''Yo quito'' means ''I remove'' but quito by itself doesn't really mean anything. To me it reminds me of ''chiquito'' which means ''very little'' like in a cute way of saying it.
