    You have to think in a different way. Ofcourse making fat jokes can be an insult, but in Korea people are on average less sensitive on this issue and care less about being fat or big. Meaning that they do not mean any harm. They would not say it to someone, who is seriously obese

    Not exactly correct since most chefs are still male. Also blame the parenting. Several generations of shaming guys who happily do chores around the house and teaching that it’s a woman’s job to do it will do that to ya. Lots of guys are waking up and breaking out of the pattern of pointless gender roles as well though. Some dudes are straight up not taught to cook and are instead taught that it’s okay cuz their partner will cook for them (which is bs and just leads to unhealthy eating when they live alone too). But yeah the best you can do is call out and avoid the dudes whp are trying to perpetuate it and ensure that your own children learn these skills regardless of gender. I know I will do just that when I’ll be a father. My sons will know to clean their own places, cook and be able to take care of themselves.

You can also substitute the gochugaru with regular hot pepper flakes and the rice flour porridge with cooked rice and water blended into a pudding-like consistency. You can also substitute the fish sauce with soy sauce and add dried shrimps all blended with the other ingredients. Hope this helps, good luck.👍🏼

    Kimchi making is seriously a labor of love. My friend once told me her parents made kimchi together as bonding/date night thing. And about a year ago, my own parents started making their own kimchi. I’ve helped out a few times and I can tell you, it’s a long and tedious process, but it is SOOO WORTH IT! Once you’ve made your own kimchi and found the mixture that works for you, you seriously can’t go back to store bought kimchi. Don’t get me wrong some brands of kimchi are good. But homemade kimchi, made to fit your specific tastebuds is phenomenal. Our family hasn’t bought kimchi since we started making our own. Now I look forward to whenever they make it to not only help out, but to also learn so that I can make my own kimchi one day 😊

  • @kalmage136

    @kalmage136

    5 жыл бұрын

    bemyvforever what do you mean by frizzy? Like mold & spoiled? The process of kimchi fermentation is that, after you completely finished making it. You let it sit outside the fridge for 24 hours, after one whole day, you keep it refrigerated. You get to only keep the kimchi for about a month. The longer it sits in the fridge during the month shelf in the fridge, the more fermented it gets (sour).

    American 'housewife' tip for the gloves: Use a hair blow dryer on low to make sure inside of glove is dry, and then sprinkle a little talcum powder, or you could even use flour or rice flour, sprinkle a tiny bit inside each glove, hold the end closed and shake powder around in the glove, and your hands will go right in! Remember, when you take the gloves off to pull them inside out! Then rinse them in some cool water to get all the powder and sweat off, and let them dry inside out. Then, they'll be all clean and dry for next time! Thanks for the great kimchi video! I think I was Korean in a former life, LoL I LOVE Korean food and I too am a Kimchi fanatic! ♥
