HOUSE TOUR | Old World Brooklyn Brownstone with pops of Coastal Grandmother
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This week @DesignerHomeTours, we took a stroll through the beautiful, brownstone-filled, tree-lined neighborhood of Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, to spend the day with New York-based Interior Designer, Christina Nielsen in her chic, renovated townhouse apartment rental. Christina’s grandmillenial aesthetic of the space is inspired by classic, modern English design. She uses textured, layered pops of color and prints, and combines an eclectic mix of high-low antique, repurposed furniture with budget-friendly finds that create a low-key, relaxed, and inviting environment for guests and everyday living. Key features of the space include a living room with antique and contemporary furniture, art and pops of color, beautiful pre-war inlay details, and a stylish, compact powder room. In this video, viewers will see a number of tips regardless of space size or budget - she shares ideas such as mixing different furniture periods, reusing antiques, an affordable hack for hanging art, and a great home office designed for storage.

I just love that tiled splashback in the kitchen 😍
Love this space. After many years I have finally realized I adore English maximalist design. It is just so rich of colour, texture and pattern. This designer has expertly combined the many facets of this design perfectly. Just gorgeous spaces!
I really enjoyed this space. Love to see someone embrace color. I also like her showing the hidden clutter we all have. Very relatable. 😂 Look forward to seeing more!
I like her style. Would like to have seen more of the home with views pulled back farther instead of so close up of the space.
It looks great. Cozy and chic
Love the use of pattern on pattern and the imaginative way of storing the microwave.
I've seen this video so many times, the piece I look forward on seen is that tall vase with red crabapples. Her style is amazing.
I can't STOP WATCHING 😍👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿❤️

Gorgeous home. Love the design, furniture choices and the fabrics.
Amazing 😻
Absolutely beautiful and love from Australia 💕
The 1st impression from opening the front door was seeing into the bathroom toilet. Please keep the bathroom door closed.
wonderful
Overall a wonderful use of pattern, texture and bold colours. Love those ceramic tiles behind the sink. Just one thing that irks me - TV placed too high up on the wall.
Beautiful
Very good design, l like it. I would show the designer at the beginning of the video. Focusing on the rooms doesn't mean that we ignore her who has designed this beautiful interior.
In Love. Excellent Style Taste.
Es el estilo de decoración que me gusta, precioso . Dios se lo bendiga su casa

I love the layout of this House but not too crazy about the decor , It gave me OCD
That's a beautiful home but when I see those cluttered surfaces I think: that must awful to clean

Yes a little too cluttered everywhere for me. But not everyone is a minimalist I guess. As long as the owners love it. We are all unique.
So she loves to use the words "space" "precious" and "very."
Lovely like u👌👌❤
There are some nice touches but overall it looks kind of……..regular 🤷🏽♀️

That’s funny for me to hear…because whether you like maximalist or not, this space looked anything but regular!! All her choices made her home unique - especially with the vintage selections. If that’s “regular” to you (no offense, truly) than you must like the look of a circus 😁
Add beautiful except for bed pillows, too many, looks very staged imo
I love the layout and the fact that it has an outdoor space. On the other hand, though I am not a minimalist, it looks way too cluttered, the eyes don't rest; it must be a nightmare to clean. I don't see why someone would spend so much and buy so much if it's a rental. It doesn't make sense financially. Lastly, why "store" under a table (and cover them with a table cloth!), appliances that are used as frequently as a microwave and a toaster oven? Once again, it doesn't make sense, it's the least practical thing ever. I understand storing a blender or food processor, but a microwave???? To me, practicality is #1. 🤷🏽♀️

People with her sense of design, skill and talent don't need to wait until they own to make a space feel like their 'forever home'. There's no need. And the amount spent is supremely relative to what you can (easily) afford and not think twice about it. She has the means and the connections to extraordinary artisans. Why not utilize what you have and who you know to get the look and feel you want to create. I understand her choices, especially in terms of what she chooses to showcase or display juxtaposed by what she prefers to keep hidden. Her choices are deeply personal and should be respected as such. What makes sense financially to her might not resonate with you for any number of reasons. She can most likely afford to walk into ANY upscale boutique (the one owned by Olatz Schnabel comes to mind) and carefully choose pieces and accessories as needed, or take a more frugal approach. She has unlimited options and her beautifully curated home is a testament to just that.

I agree Maria, I find everything so cluttered and full. I’m not a minimalist and I love colour in a space but I think there’s a way to do it without the space feeling untidy.

she is a self-proclaimed maximalist, so i think she's aware of the clutter and revels in it. i'm with you on this being too much for me (and i'm likewise too practical to hide things like a toaster oven) but i guess, different strokes.
@robyndismon394
2 жыл бұрын
@@thedustwhispered but to HER, what you process as 'clutter' is invariably the simple process of being surrounded by the items she's carefully collected and LOVES. She wants and needs to actually see the fruits of her labor. And it works beautifully imo.

@@robyndismon394 that's literally what i said? "she revels in it," i.e. she enjoys it. i even said, different strokes for different folks. what was the point of your reply?
rental property, so not owned by the decorator/"designer"

it's not like the landlord designed the space, so what does that have to do with anything?

@@thedustwhispered the Landlord aka property owner designed the interior space.......the renter is Neilsen & hubby..she just decorated the space.....big difference..besides there is a 2 apartment on 2upper floors....She has the lower floor where the 2 beds & bath are with garden access (generally the garden apartment & the 1st fl living/kitchen with deck access to the garden

@@maddscientist3170 isn't that just semantics? interior designers are often hired to "decorate" a space. moreover, i don't see what it matters that she doesn't rent or own the whole building.
Who cleans with their hands when they are making a video. Wierd ‼️
The POINTLESS adjusting/zhuzh that each designer does (reapeatdly) in your videos is infuriating to watch. They have already styled everything and they just move something to put it back in place. From a stylist and designer to another, please stop this non-sense! It detracts from otherwise great content.
I wish there was no presenter 😢.
Too busy and cluttered
Not impressed with her decorating of her own house at all.
