Interior designer Jen McDermott takes us inside her Lowcountry Farmhouse in Charleston filled with fabulous patterns and English-inspired decor.

Just two years ago, Jen and her husband transitioned from their beloved 1920s Dutch Colonial in the New York City metro area to embark on the journey of building their dream home in Charleston. Their home, a picturesque low-country farmhouse from the outside, hides a delightful surprise within its walls. Stepping inside, you are greeted by an interior that seamlessly blends classic English country charm with a dash of French flair.
Over the past two years, Jen has meticulously curated every detail of their new home, from the addition of reclaimed beams in the living room to the striking ochre yellow zellige tile in the kitchen. The result is a harmonious blend of architectural accents, bold colors, and carefully curated antiques that exude charm and character. Enjoy!

This is livable, achievable, comfortable, everyday elegance that could work for a beautiful farmhouse like hers or a cookie cutter home in the suburbs. I love her taste of beautifully layered maximalism yet not over the top. She is lovely and so is her home.
Well, THIS is inspiring! Jen is adorable and her home is fabulous and full of love. Thank you.
She explains her design very well. Love the house!
Beautiful unique and personal. I love these types of tours that don’t look staged .
Oh my! You have no idea how you have inspired me. Having lost my husband 18 months ago, I have decided to uproot myself and move from our larger, older home to be nearer to my family. I have just recently contracted on a semi-custom home as well. Not only will my space be smaller, but I will also, just as you, have an open floor plan. Our color palettes are similar - so refreshing to see your use of bold color, forgoing the boring all grey and stark white trend all of the model homes are showing. What an uplifting video this was….even to see how you chose certain elements of the builder’s offerings, yet perfectly made them your own, has been incredibly uplifting! Thank you, thank you!

I know I'm just an internet stranger, but I'm sorry for the loss you have endured. You are very brave for trying something new! I hope it's everything you imagined and more. 💜
You know a home is good design when even the laundry room is a work of art!
Love her style. I too, adore fabrics and patterns and textures. Her home is beautiful , but so cozy and relatable. Some homes look like a staged house for sale. This looks and feels like home. The sweet little butcher block and the open shelves make this small footprint of a kitchen so appealing and unique. The fact that the small painting was all you could afford in college, makes it all the more special. The custom headboard and matching Roman Shades is perfection!!!! Just a lovely , special home.

I agree and I think becoming very common! Cozy!
What a beautiful home. I absolutely loved this one. I appreciate Jen's suggestions to customize a home and loved her use of color in her home!
Finally, a home and not a showcase. Love the color!!!!! Looks lived in unlike the all white/blue boxes usually shown. Nice!!!
This home is so beautiful and comfortable. It’s meant to be lived in! Lovely lady, too!
the large oak and the brick wall in the backyard is stunning. What a great addition to the home.
What a marvelous way to spend my afternoon. I took screen shots of everything. ESPECIALLY the Ochre backsplash in the kitchen...THANK YOU JEN and Homeworthy. Amazing.
Most open floor plans lack character, but this is incredible. Her design style is unique and cozy.
Her home matches her personality, down to earth and humble. I love it!
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. It is a wonderful cozy and comfortable home with great collections. Love it.
Oh my goodness! What an amazing and gorgeous house/home! Jen and Homeworty - thank you for the privilege of the viewing. Can’t say enough about this stunning home.
I love homeworthy so much I miss this episode because I had to work late but I had a dentist appointment so I took my IPad to the dentist and I am watching it while waiting for the dentist to come in 🤣💚🤣
This is what I call a real HOME, not somewhere the owner calls up her friends so she can show off the Scalamandre fabric and her Herend collection. Yes, this home is exquisitely furnished, don’t get me wrong, but it’s comfortable and welcoming. We didn’t have to hear endless dribble about museum quality paintings passed down from great uncle what’s his name. This is a home Jen and her husband have put together themselves through hard work, how refreshing. (Just like normal people)

Or their friend gave them a 24 place setting of china that cost 1000.00 per setting and their parents friends from college gave them all the serving platters, dishes, gravy boats etc. And her great granny gave her all her silver from a castle in Scotland. (or something like that) LOL! WHO.ARE.THOSE.PEOPLE?? Needless to say, I run in much poorer circle of friends and family.

This is an aesthetic I truly love. The use of primary colors in an eclectic/country way is how I find myself decorating more often than not. This home is truly yummy! ❤️🏡
Love this one - more relatable than most!
One of my new favorites! I’m inspired by her ability to make a semi-custom home feel so warm and elevated.
What a beautiful home. Love the fab ochre yellow kitchen wall tiles - a welcome relief from all white marble seen in so many homes. Of course, her fabric choices are off the wall!
I love everything about this home. It's lovingly curated and comfortably appointed. I think Jen captured the Charleston vibe perfectly.
Absolutely love this video! Jen’s home is colorful, collected and personal. This home looks lived in and a reflection of a beautiful life.
Great curb appeal. House is warm and inviting reflecting the lovely host. thank you for sharing!
Thanks, Jen, for all the design ideas from your beautiful new home in SC. Love all your color choices and artistic style. 🩷
Jen has a great eye! I love her blend of English and French country in Charleston. What an amazing location! And fantastic fabric choices.
My favorite, so far! I love how her home flows from room to room with her colors. My mother believed that, too, and passed that on to me. Love, love, love this home.
Love abounds in this beautiful and gracious home. Every detail has been thought out and arranged to perfection.
This is lovely, thank you for sharing the nuts-and-bolts of your DESIGN LOGIC, much appreciated. For a lot of us, we are born noticing things and caring so much about our interiors and surroundings. We do not grow up in particularly curated homes...Books and magazines are pictures of Shangri-La! We remember being shown jaw-dropping homes of family friends....when we were just kids...we remember being amazed and appreciative, and then being given THE TOUR, because even though we were 7 years old, we GOT it! We do not know why we are this way, but the filters and the fine-tuning knobs are always busily taking things in and happily sorting and seeing! I love seeing what other people do! I love sorting out an un-loved space! I love both things equally! Seeing lovely spaces charges my batteries for loving neglected, unnappreciated spaces. You got it going on here! Yay!Thank you for the tour❤
A lady who loves her beautiful home. It shows throughout and she never bored us by giving too much information. I personally liked her choice of colors and walked away with some great ideas inspired by this video from Homeworthy. Thank you ~
❤ ~Beautiful home filled with warmth & color. ~Love it! 💞🌿
Thank you, Homeworthy, for posting something under an hour long! This beautiful home and video was a pleasure to watch!
My grandfather had a screened in “sleeping” porch on his Rancho here in So Cal. We grandkids would grab our sleeping bags and talk into the night on cool summer nights. We don’t get many bugs but we’d keep an eye out for bears and mountain lions. Fun times.
The constant pop up ads for products in the corner while the video is playing is VERY annoying! Links in the description box should be good enough. It really detracts from the presentation of the home. Does every little thing need to be about what someone could sell??? 😒
This is a stunning home, inside and out! ❤
A beautiful, comfortable home. The black definitely sets everything apart from the white walls.
We love your channel. Would love to see 2 or 3 a week, just of challenges with the property and adapting to life in France. We love seeing glimpses of how you move through life as a couple and find both of you hilarious.
I loved her house and commentary. Such a liveable home. So jealous!
All the colors I use in my home. This home spoke to my soul

I’ve just had a house built and my walls are what I think are the same color. A sort of sage/gray, like the plant lambs ears.
Beautiful house and lady. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.
So enjoyed this. I had developed a case of ptsd from looking at white rooms for too many years. They truly depressed me. This house is welcoming, just as the owner wants it.
Beautiful, warm, comfortable, and cozy; it fits the owner/designer's personality! ❤
I love everything about this home, and it is by far my favorite I’ve ever viewed on Homeworthy. It’s lovely, homey, colorful and inviting without being too over the top. Just wonderful!!
Brava! Blown away by Jenn’s home and her hospitality! I leave learned and so very inspired! I absolutely love this episode and will return to it again with a journal and pen. Thank you, Homeworthy and Jenn!
Thanks Homeworthy and Jen for a beautiful home tour. This home speaks “welcome “! It’s nice to see an open floor plan design. Pantry door, butcher block cutting board and beaded chandelier in bedroom all winners. 👏👏
Love seeing inside Charleston homes. So much style in the Holy City! My husband is a realtor and I run a Charleston Instagram account. We love everything Charleston!
Love her aesthetic especially the contrasting countertops in the kitchen, what a great idea to give a more custom feel
18 months out too. Your husband would be proud keep going 🙏🏾
Such a beautiful home. The home owner is so down to earth and relatable. This was a wonderful video.
Stunning stunning stunning home!! So beautiful and so welcoming and warm… what a home should be…. Doesn’t look like a museum .. but every detail is so lovely! Just beautiful!!!
Beautiful home and location. Love it!!! Moving from NJ was a Blessing. Slowing down increases lifespan. We lived there for 4-years, and NY for Decades. We have lived in Texas for 12-years now; not moving. The “Shore” is great; beyond that…Very creative designs. I love the wall paper on your Laundry Room ceiling. Impressive. You Nailed it.
I enjoyed this tour so much. What a beautiful home-y home! And the host was lovely and easy to listen to. I love her use of color and texture.
One of my favorites! Enjoyed being taken around this beautiful, well thought out and well designed home.
Beautiful home. I really enjoy listening to the stories each designer tells as they walk us through their home.
Looks very cozy, and not over the top, everything is very harmonious. Love it.
The brick wall is lovely and vintage. I lived in Savanah 40 years ago and loved the brick work.
Nice to see a colorful house rather than the popular natural color themed house . Colorful but tastefully done 😍
Your home is beautiful. Love the European country style. Thank you for sharing.
My fav thus far! So beautifully put together warm and classic!! 🥰
Just adore the low country and those beautiful liveoaks are so majestic !! My sister and brother in law live in Oakatie S.C. CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK TO VISIT !! Your home is sooo nice !!
What this type of home shows to the average viewer- with limited resources - it's possible one can achieve this look or similar themselves. It's relatable to many people. Its very attractive and full of colour but doesn't look like its cost millions. I love this property, the lady has made an interesting family home comfortable and individual 😊
ذوق رفيع،ورؤية فنية جمالية تضفي بهاء تبعث السكينة والابداع ❤✨️🇹🇳
I love all the color…especially my favorite color RED…..you should decorate flower pots or a lamp with your sea shells….Thankyou for sharing with all of us……I know about the muggy weather and the bugs…we live in Georgia….hugs carolyn
Absolutely beautiful. Looks like such a comfortable home. Love your fabric choices!!!
I love how Jen describes her home, its decor and her rationale for various pieces and aspects. A thoroughly enjoyable video and lovely home. I would describe my esthetic like hers but her execution is impeccable yet still comfortable.
Thank you for sharing. So very beautiful and the inviteing wholesome look.❤ Speaks home and welcome with every view.❤❤❤😊
Beautiful home!
Beautiful home. Thank you for this video. Wonderful hostess❤
Beautiful home and great design. I love how every space flows so well with each other. The use of black and ocher really made it cohesive. Thank you for another wonderful tour. 😊
I enjoyed this from beginning to end. LOVELY HOME!
Ok I like this lady. I’d want her as my friend. Her style is fantastic and so very welcoming. Her philosophy that home is love is perfect in my book. As a transplanted New Yorker to upstate SC, I understand her transition. I know she’ll probably always love ,and at times, miss the beautiful Hudson Valley but she’s certainly embracing the beauty of the Low Country. My advice is to do as she is doing and to go with the flow. Keep your North Star but enjoy the journey.
Hello from Summerville (by way of PA)! Thank you for opening your beautiful home to us, Jen. I could feel the warmth and loved seeing color and personality. I can't decide which fabric I like the best; they are all so lovely. Your patio is awesome- enjoy it once our pollen is gone! 😊
Your home is beautiful, and I love all the colors and patterns you’ve used. Thanks for sharing!
Inviting! Love your color choices in paint & fabrics that mix & match so nicely. Your patio is divine. ❤️ Thank you so much for sharing. 😁
What great ideas! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us:)
one of my favorite homes yet!
Inviting and inspired-dreamy vibes. Unforgettably charming home, thank you for the tour.
Love all your pillows!
I love this home. Many inspiring ideas!
VERY ECLECTIC WITH CHARM AND WARMTH ALL AROUND. THANK YOU.
I love the style of her home and how relaxed everything feels from her decor to her personality! =)
Love absolutely everything about this home and family!!
My gosh, you are an incredible decorator!I just love your home♥️
Beautifully designed. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful home. Love all the colour and pattern.
Thank you for sharing your home. I’m not into open concept but I have to say I like this one. You obviously knew what you were doing with decorating. It doesn’t scream open concept to me. I really enjoyed your tour.
I love the style and design choices!❤
❤ I am moving to a home with almost this exact same layout in the main area and have been bewildered on how to address it. Thx for this show it was lovely to see how the designer approached the challenges of an open floor plan, builder - imposed limitations and also budget constraints. Fantastic and helpful❤❤❤
Beautifully done, love the bedroom most of all.
I have lamps everywhere and 4 in my kitchen, 3 in the laundry room and 1 in the bathroom. They are like art for me. I dont like overhead lights unless there is no other way to light a space.
Love her house and style. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful creative cosy home! 💙🌊🌴 *it's so refreshing to see a beautiful home like this one that has so much individual personality &creativity like the old days prior to the internet when you would go to your friends home and every home was different & creative. So many today just copy Pinterest white, white, white homes interiors and dont tap into what they really like in their personal home design and most importantly dont tap into their creative side. Jen has tapped into her creative side & has hit this home interior design out of the park!! Beautiful! home ⚾
Lovely home!
Love it! Very warm and cozie :)
Love your house! Love, love decorating & fabrics! I have 2 cowheads! Love the Indian fabrics in the bedroom! Love! Thank you!
Glad you mentioned the no see ems. So annoying they are in Georgia. And some nights i cant sleep. Love the home.
I LOVE this home! So many wonderful ideas. I was really hoping to get a glimpse of the little den/office behind the sliding Glass doors. It looked so cozy. Your home shows people of more modest means, that we can achieve beauty without a huge budget. Thank you!
Handsome structure/homestead. Love the warmth and dynamism of an entry, multi purpose *great room. Jen's got a good eye for quality and combination of fabrics, embracing furnishings - and all this set off by a beautiful, rich *light that gets through the space , as well the electric light choices. The Enclosed porch is the cherry on the Sundae.

I guess you missed the bit about her studying to be an interior decorator and working for ten years with someone really special (can’t remember his name right now) She is a professional interior decorator/designer! 🥰👏👏
