HOUSE TOUR | 27-Foot Ceilings, Gargoyles, and 60 Trees and Plants Inside this New York Apartment

You've never seen an apartment like this before. The cathedral ceilings in Nicholas Lowry's Gramercy Park apartment are 27 feet high. There are eight gargoyles. And more beautiful items from bygone years than you've ever seen. It's simply incredible. When I walked in to film, my jaw dropped in wonderment.
Nicho is president of Swann Auction Galleries in New York City and is also the Director of Swann’s Vintage Posters Department. As one of the world’s foremost authorities on vintage posters, he has spent nearly 25 years serving regularly as poster appraiser on the PBS television show Antiques Roadshow.

Nothing against the current trending of minimalism, but I appreciate this guy for recognizing and staying true to his desires and passion and isn't shy to freely express them in his home. Would love to spend an afternoon having a drink with this man and listen to his telling of all the amazing stories behind his little collections.

My FAVORITE appraiser on AR!! I've been fighting my life long "collector" urges and have tried so hard to jump on the "minimalist" approach to life. BUT, it causes me more distress to live without the little discoveries that give me joy than it does to give them away to create a less cluttered environment. Thanks Nicho, for validating that it's OK to do my own thing and not feel the trendy need to revamp my CLEAN and wonderfully collection-filled home! ❤🥰👍😄🥳

For all of us who've been watching Antiques Roadshow from the beginning, it only natural to wonder how their appraisers live and collect. Nicho doesn't disappoint! Like Diana Vreeland always said; "the eye has to travel," and you certainly get a work out looking at all of Nicho's treasures. Truly fascinating!

I was thrilled to see this video. That apartment is fabulous! The ceilings and detailed woodwork is amazing. By the comments here some people don't like the "clutter" but I don't see a thing wrong with it. I see a lot of beautiful things. I also see his sense of humor and joy of life. If you were fortunate enough to be invited over, it would be so much fun to look at his treasures. What interesting stories he could tell about his collections. Loved this video, can't wait to see more!

Beautiful. This makes my heart race. Seeing that there are people in the world who appreciate very old items today is a joy. This reminds me of being on city house tours when I was young in the '70s & '80s and being attracted to the eclectic homes. I've surrounded myself most of my life with old items, some from my family going back to the 19th Century, others that I've purchased: furniture, clothing, ephemera, signage, photographs, dishware...It's satisfying looking at a home that is not leaning toward minimalism.

After seeing this guy talk about his wondrous apartment, I think I should embrace the truth: I am a maximalist, verging on hoarding, too. I've tried tried tried to do the minimalist things, always to no avail. I adore his quirky, unique style that is JUST HIM. His plaid suit collection is amazing, and I love how he embraces all of the things that make him who he is. I'm the same way: I just like things for what they are, and how they make me feel. Two of my favorite found items are a pair of printer, or typesetter trays - large wood trays about 1.5 inches high, with a myriad of different sized compartments that are absolutely perfect for my myriad pairs of earrings!
