House Of The Dragons DISGUSTING Scene Proves The Show Is DEGENERATE

Ойын-сауық

House of the Dragon is no savior of fantasy. Game of Thrones was degenerate, and anything George R.R. Martin touches is disgusting; this is no different for the HBO show.

OK so I guess I'll defend the scene. Aemond stands up and doesn't cover himself because his brother is trying to humiliate him. He also disparages the hooker he actually has a strong bond with for the same reason. He is caught in a moment of vulnerability and has to act that way to save face with Aegon, as they have this messed up competitive relationship that's wrapped up in the politics of their positions. Did the showrunners need to show it for like 15 seconds? Probably not, but that's my read into the scene a bit more.

I have no interest in the show, but I absolutely don't give the tiniest bit of a damn if nudity and gore are in something marketed exclusively to adults. You can be a prude all you want, and you're free to encourage others not to watch the show if you think it's bad, as I would try to dissuade anyone I know from watching Hostel. But we should absolutely support ADULTS' right to make and consume whatever they want, that breaks no laws and does no physical harm to anyone. Obviously, kids should be nowhere near certain things, but that's not an issue here. Something like 96%+ of adults engage with "adult material" of some form or another, especially if you include women reading raunchy novels. Trying to convince adults, in general, they shouldn't engage with, or shouldn't be able to engage with, adult materual is a losing issue. Keeping it out of kids' hands and keeping kids uninvolved is a winning issue. Now, let's see if this comment gets deleted by y0utub3's censorious Al as seems to happen every time I engage on a serious topic.

Edgy and gross is degenerate, but so is woke and bland. I remember when dark fantasy could push limits. Kids had D&D and adults had Conan (for a time). This is a progression of that for a more mature audience. I think you maybe reading more into this than is there on this specific case.

Dude look up what Arya talks about what the mountain did in the riverlands during the war of the five Kings. In the book look up the first page of A Song of Ice and Fire and it will tell you. On the first page that Catelyn is getting her back blown out by Ned and is wondering if she'll get pregnant again. Like this is nothing new for A Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones there is literally one scene in the book where Daenerys literally pipes down Kal drogo in front of his men.

i heard a youtuber named quantum of conscience suggest an interesting theory once about how there seems to be this strange trend of people attempting to destroy tolkein's legacy and bastardize his work with shows like rings of power, but shows like house of the dragon & game of thrones are allowed to have such a wide cultural appeal because game of thrones is a nihilistic deconstruction of tolkein's work and represents the exact the opposite in terms of themes & messaging, cos they dont want people to have an appreciation for the beauty, heroism and optimism that can be found in more classic/traditional fantasy stories.

I'm with you, Jon. I'm very disappointed with all these shows that make the vilian the hero. Breaking Bad where you root for a drug dealer. Son's of Anarchy where they're all drug dealers and sex traffickers. I never watched Game of Thrones because I heard about the awful things that all the characters did to each other. I draw a specific line between watching a movie and watching a series. When you watch Silence of the Lambs, you spend two hours and don't develop a relationship with Hannibal Lecter. When you watch these series you develop a relationship with the characters. For example, in Breaking Bad, where Walter's best friend is a cop, you are required to hope that Walter gets away with his crimes. Having these thoughts live in your head for weeks, months, or even years is damaging.

I don't particularly like the show because I feel it's somehwat diluted (might have been better if they condensed the material into less screen time). Also, some things aren't too believable (many things along the lines of young Jaehaerys being essentially unguarded). However, this is by far the worst rebuttal I have heard so far. Seinga scene that involved nudity for no more than a couple of seconds does not make a show pornographic. How childish are you that you are afraid of the human body? And did everything of substance just go over your head or something? You clearly have no ability to do a proper review of anything, this content was trash.

The 'pornographic' scenes in GoT were not, to the best of my recollection, in George R.R. Martin's novels, and yeah, it's a shame they were included at the expense of material that was in the books, the exclusion of which would later come back and bite the showrunners in the ass. As for the graphic violence, in the past warfare was not constrained by the Geneva convention. I have read accounts of men being killed, and then their members being cut off and stuck in their mouths. This was an age when people were burnt alive, buried alive, hanged drawn and quartered, stretched on the rack and all other forms of brutality... and that's just in Europe.

It’s obviously of the same mould as Game of Thrones. I actually think it’s stronger than the original show (though, for sure, it’s early days and could still fail come its last season. As for the nudity…well, that kind of thing has been in HBO shows for ages. Had such scenes been aired, say, 20 years ago, then there would be outrage - simpler, more innocent times maybe - but these days, we’ve become somewhat desensitised to such “explicitness” for good or ill. Even “young adult” shows are crammed full of sex or anything else deemed ‘edgy’. Comparing it to legendary tomes like “The Lord Of The Rings” is almost pointless: a) written in more innocent times and b) structurally (and morally) “Dragon” is a different literary beast. Explicit scenes in the show/book are “incidentals” that aren’t really integral to plot (so, yes, that’s a bad point) but - BUT - if they don’t harm the narrative and characterisations, one could argue “where’s the real harm?” (especially when, currently, television and film HAS got more “adult” in tone). Each to their own though, obviously.

The amount of nudity in some episodes can be over the top. Otherwise I would have thought that it is mostly just realism within a fantasy realm. Read real stories of old times where people have no rights, or just war stories. Corrupt people do corrupt things! This is the sort of stuff that happened. Just look at what was done to the Jews in camps. They were used as sex slaves and had many things done to them. I would agree that this stuff isn't "entertainment" per se, but it's mostly justifiable within the context. Nudity and sex in context is not "porn". Otherwise you can say that the sexually explicit stuff in the bible is "porn". Which in certain definitions it is... but I don't agree with those definitions. I'd also say that if people cannot see the story in Game of Thrones passed the nudity and gore, then they have an issue with nudity and gore. I don't even think it has to do with desensitization. If you can't see past the sex and violence, you need to understand that YOU are the person that is fixated... YOU have the obsession!

G.R.R.M writes ASOIAF as medieval/ancient times actually were, we still have degenerate/rapist genes in our DNA from the debauchery that ruled that era. about the tv show, rawness is also HBO's specialty, it's the huge impact The Sopranos left, basically every single entertainment company has been trying to mimick their tv shows since The Sopranos droped and have failed miserably, even a massive acclaimed hit like Breaking Bad exists because of The Sopranos. In defense of GRRM the story is very much inspired by real European medieval history where he basically took all major events and transposed them into a fantasy remix. Medieval European history was extremely crude behind the curtains. Lust, capriciousness and debouchery was definitely a thing. If that needs to be poured on top of the oversaturated culture poisoned by toxic social media degeneracy is a question worth thinking about. Deep down GRRMs work is nihilistic and rotten but it can be read as a warning since it doesn't go well for any of the protagonists. The show has nuance and isnt glorifying degenerate behavior without also showing the consequences (King Jefrey comes to mind). The nudity and brothel scenes are gratuitous for sure. It doesn't serve the story much so its clear it was done to check off the shock factor box.
