Fun fact: Cregan Stark Hour of the Wolf is based on Richard Duke of York, when the King of England was in a coma and all the court were taking the piss and they lost a huge part of France, (Richard was a big France campaigner) he came back from a campaign in Ireland and went to court. When he entered court he basically pulled out his sword and all the bishops and lords shat themselves and submitted. He then started hunting down and executing all the traitors to the crown. Edit : I should mention the king was in a coma because of his losses in France. 😂

I just watched HotD over the weekend for the first time. I loved GoT. Then the last two seasons (especially the last five episodes) killed all interest I had in the property. But I’m glad I finally gave this a chance. It’s been really good so far. It’s nice to hear you guys talk about something you like for once. This is what the fandom and nerdom shit used to be about before they waged war on us.

The way Gary said it, the guy who just had his arm chopped off used the one he still has to pull the other guy towards him, then he says that same guy stabs the dude he just pulled into him, and Gary uses the "missing arm" to make a stabbing motion. I assume the guy without the arm is not the one doing this in the book or that something else happens, but that's how Gary described it. To quote him exactly: "one guy gets his arm completely chopped off up to the shoulder, but with his other arm grabs the other twin and guts him (Gary uses the "missing arm" to make a stabbing motion while still holding the other arm out in the grabbing position)." That's one too many arms by my count.

I know the Muppet Tully's are dumb but I get a laugh out of them for some reason. Not the first time he's done something like that either there's several nods/homages to other pop culture stuff in ASOIAF but he's usually way more subtle about it: In A Game of Thrones When Tyrion is travelling to the Wall with Jon & Benjen he thinks of the group as "a curious Fellowship" & there are 9 of them if you include Ghost. After Catlyn takes him hostage & they're travelling to the Vale 3 of the guys that go with them are Lharys, Kurleket & Mohor which is a nod to the 3 Stooges Larry, Curly & Mo. Someone asked him about it at a con way back in the early days (1999-2000ish) & he just laughed & said "ya got me", House Tor is a nod to Robert Jordan's publusher & Wun-Wun the giant being a nod to former New York Giant's #11 Phil Simms are just a few examples but there's a bunch more including nods to Blue Beetle, Green Arrow & Black Hood

Saving this video to watch after the season...

My issue (& video rant) with Alicent is that Olivia Cooke was wasted as the actress bc we could've had a way more dynamic character IF they had stuck closer to the book. I liken Alicent in the books to Olenna...& could you IMAGINE that character fully realized in the show??! Especially since they are choosing to utilize Alicent/Rhaenyra more in the storyline. Instead we get this wishy-washy watered down version of Alicent. The writers want her to be a victim of Westerosi Patriarchy AND they also want her to be a "girl boss", but whenever they flip-flop between the two narratives, they have to severely dumb down Alicent 🙄 (episode 9 is a perfect example & the DUMBEST episode of the whole first season).

I agree ! I noticed that they try to portray the main female leads as innocent and all their bad choices were forced upon them by men ! I instantly was upset with this ! But in the books the clearly are not the victims of circumstance ! But I knew there would be some propaganda in the show , since every piece of entertainment has some woke crap in it ! But however I was happy overall with the show ! I really wanted this show to be made so badly and at least it came out mostly good for me ! But I have to point out the things that clearly I didn’t like ! Hopefully they stick to fire and blood more consistently ! But one can only wish right !

@jasonck9635 I have my massive criticisms of HOTD show, but I also enjoyed the first season (more than I thought I would). There's things they get right, there's things they expand upon & it enhances the character (mainly King Viserys). I'm upset bc we could've gotten a SPECTACULAR show. Instead, we just get an "OK" show or "Enjoyable...bc hey, at least it's better than other crap that's been produced" show. I think it's ironic that they want to have this meta commentary about The Patriarchy/Misogyny/Sexism...& they dumb down all the females in the show 🙃 As for Season 2...I've read interviews by the cast & writers, also watched some interviews that have me very worried.

It’s so interesting peoples perspective on this. Innocence isn’t always good. It can make women look bad instead of the men. The way they write it is the most important thing. I think Rhaenyra will eventually come into her own, but I have no idea how they’re going to deal with Alicent. All I know is Ryan says they have arcs and they develop as characters. Be prepared for the women boss words from Rhaenys, but Daemon’s going to dress her down.

What was wrong with Valerio s being black? They closely resemble the African Contenant. So there isn't a big deal that they got curly muddy hair. JAMAICANS Have tbr same look. People from Pentos are Spanish looking like in the books, amd in the show thrh look straight up white americans from Verginia lol. WHEN YOU SAY DEI, changing something drastic to fit a political narrative fits the definition. Not because they have a few colored people that are from continents that have a similar cultural backgrounds. I have no problem with Coralys being black. i've red the book this week... basically until the dance starts (Season 2) the book is about the history of Aegon's conquest the struggles of his sons and the reign of Jaehaerys... once tha dance starts the story is told differently...you legit have 200 pages of wars, backstabs, people changing sides, lots of fire, and lots of blood... over all... very happy with the ending of the dance :D i think every season will have 1 major battle and 1 plot twist... 9:12 not really... he took Harrenhal, then he waited Mysaria to tell him when Aemond left with kings army from Kings lading... then he went and took kings landing with Rhaenyra, while Cole and Aemond marched to Harrenhal to find it empty xD they could also make Harrenhal bigger than it was... i think the show will end with Battle Above God's Eye, Dragon Stone event, Cregan delivering justice, and Aegon III coronation + wedding all of them in the last 3 episodes of the last season.

@@loveoffilm4327 no it doesn't, it legit happens the chapter before Rhaenyra loses the King's Landing and the dragons to the mobs and flees to Dragonstone where Aegon waits her with Sunfire...basically (close to the end of the dance)... and since it's a show they can make it happen right before, in the same time or even after the death of Rhaenyra...nevertheless it will happen in the last season.

I think that they should have dealt with Cersi first and Danerys loses her sh*t in the process, but they win. Then as she's tunred mad, Jon snow has to deal with the night king and Danerys and he ends up killing her and drawing Lightbringer which he uses to kill the night king. it wouldve been bad a*s.

GRRM says multiple times how many people are in kings landing the only way I see Dany burning everything is to stop them from becoming part of the army of the dead.

Im in a weird position having seen and read HotD/Fire and Blood but havent seen Game of Thrones yet. I blame the weekly model before streaming

There was the rumour going around (I believe started by KZreadr The Dragon Demands) that Nettles wasn't going to be in HotD. Preston Jacobs also talked about it in a video and I agree with him that it would be a big mistake to not have her in the show. Her story is very interesting and although George wrote some melanine diversity in the story by including her and that purpose is already served with the Velaryons, she does play a role in the story. We'll find out. I would actually like it if she'd been kept a secret from the scoopers.

There's supernatural elements tied to Daemon towards the end of his life, IMO. & the show has introduced some of it in Season 1: • His obsession with anything Valyrian, Targaryen & regarding Dragons... ^^which is interesting bc he criticized Viserys for his similar obsession, but maybe it's in WHAT they were choosing to focus on 🤷‍♀️ • He clearly came across 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 significant bc we see him utilize it in Episode 10 when he sings to Vermithor & something happens...what exactly, we don't know yet. I don't think Harrenhall being so pivotal in alot of the ASOIAF series is a coincidence. I don't think its proximity to the God's Eye/Isle of Faces is a coincidence either. & if you think about "sacrifices" of "kingly/royal blood" & MAGIC...what's more powerful than TWO dragons, one of which was the original dragons that conquered Westeros & TWO "male dragons" in Aemond/Daemon. Aemond was found still saddled to Vhagar. Caraxes crawled up on shore...perhaps Daemon did too but on the shore of the Isle/Faces, taken by the Green Men. Maybe the "Weirwood Net" comes into play bc of the ancient weirwoods there..? Anyways, it will depend on how the show wants to handle the supernatural elements of ASOIAF. They DO seem to be leaning into it more than GoT considering Haelaena & her Dragon Dreams, Daemon + his "true dragon/Targaryen-ness" & whatever went down w/ Vermithor. The Dragons 🐉 are clearly tied to the Prophecy & key to the defeat of the WWs. Again, I don't think it's a mistake that a Targaryen dragon-dreamer foresaw it & had dragons...& that when Dany "birthed" her dragons during the time of the Comet ☄️ (Prince who was promised Prophecy) all that WW activity gained momentum AND that one of those dragons is always likened to "Balerion, born again"... We'll see what the show does tho.

I think, if it was my call, I would end season two with the Balcks taking King's Landing. We then create that 180 switch. At the end of season 1, the Blacks look finished. They have lost the Luc, they have no allies of any importance, no financial backing, and no support. The Greens have the capital, a king crowned before the people with the lineage and signs of heritage, eg, Aegons criwn and Blackfyre, the government treasury, more troops, more allies, etc. Every advantage is with the Greens. By the end of season 2, we have flipped. The Blacks now have the capital, the treasury, and powerful allies. The Greens have lost popular support, the royal army has been destroyed, and Criston Cole has been killed. Now, the Blacks look unstoppable. I think it's a really good dichotomy and an interesting place to leave things.

Why do they think rooks rest will be mid season? With 8 episodes and the trailers etc I don’t see us going past that battle in my opinion, I don’t think you can do the cough cough Jace bit until season 3 without rushing it.

Actually am afraid of the opposite I hope they don’t stretch the show They are planning for 4 seasons with 3 season show while I don’t blame them because they want to show the battles however in order for them to do that they would have to stretch some story element

This video makes me somewhat embarrassed about how little _actual_ history I know. Because I've read or listened to the referenced books, and I can follow along with all the characters in this fantastical history. But then I don't know near as much about the Hundred Years War, the Crusades, the War of Scottish Independence, the Thirty Years War, the American Revolution, the Civil War, World War 1, World War 2, or the War of the Roses (the York/Lancaster conflict which was the basis for the Stark/Lannister rivalry). Maybe I need to binge watch some old History Channel documentaries . . . starting with The Real History Behind Game of Thrones.

N+A=J is impossible. The timeline can't work. John would have to be significantly older than Rob if it happened at the tourney. Generally It's noticeable when a baby is older than another. R+L=J is certain, and Young Griff is most likely Ashara and the Mad Kings. Ashara was "dishonored" by someone who could get away with it when she is best friends with the princess, and her brother is best friend with the prince. Oh, and that brother is the best swordsman in the kingdom. No one, but the king gets away with that. Then she and the baby both die of screen right around when Ned is around. Ned just stormed away from kings landing because they killed Targaryan babies. So Ned shows up at Starfall with a baby just after his sister dies at the Tower she was held captive. He sees that she has a Targaryan baby. Well, he might mention that they are going to kill her baby and she should run away. Kind of explains why the Daines name their heir Ned and love the guy that killed their golden boy.

The war happens bcoz of the power hungry men & alicent who colluded with them. I don't care about Rhaenyra's 3 older sons being Harwin's. Bottom line: Viserys, Laenor & Coryls ~ the 3 men who mattered most when those kids were born, they all accepted jace, luce & joffrey = so even if they're biologically HALF strong, their legally acknowledged (legitimate) as Targaryens/Velaryons = so Laenor pretty much "adopted" them = his acceptance & allowing them to legally use his family name ~ that's all that matters at the end of the day... even irl adopted kids have equal rights as biological kids under existing laws. ~ true, the small folks don't matter, even in our present day, governments worldwide screwing over their own people 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♀️ ~ supposedly, according to others who've seen screeners, daemon's instructions are to "go get aemond" then B & C asks, "what if we don't find him?" Only concern is how s1 handled Aegon. In the book he is debauched, but also brave, with Stannis level determination in his claim. In the show he is Joffrey 2.0 who doesn’t want to be king. Might leave the ending coming out of nowhere without those traits.

Did you read the same book I did? Aegon didn't want the crown in the book. Cole had to convince him by telling him Rhaenrya would murder his siblings and his children.

@@havok6280 That’s the septons account. To me Aegon being bullied into the crown by Cole and Alicent seemed contrary to his later actions. He stays alive from spite and willpower after being burned and crippled. Could have easily given up when the war turned against him, but doesn’t. Being a sincere believer in his claim, but also lazy and needing the push from Cole for action is the other interpretation. As a history we don’t really get the detailed character motivations, but that is how I read it.

Apparently he is the standout of early episodes so I have hope. He's like the Jesse Pinkman of the show. Underachieving addict who surprisingly ends up being quite competent when under pressure but who slowly loses his soul under the weight of a life he didn't choose

If I was never into GoT, is this a good series to get into? Just want to watch some fantasy show with dragons tbh, but I always stayed away because GoT went to shit before I even gave it a try

GOT is still 100% worth watching. The last 2 seasons were disjointed and rushed but up to that point, just WOW. Some of the best story and battles I’ve ever seen in a fantasy show. House of the dragon s1 was incredible but it’s 200 years before GOT.

I've not heard anything about the new season. I'm going to guess they heavily lean into the feminism that is the driving force of this show but only in the second half of the season; after the reviews come in.

I have to disagree right at start: No I don't have high expectations. After everything that happened and continues to happen, one has to be a imbecil to have high expectation. Not surprised though, much of these channels viewers come from the peoples outrage, you're just building it up.

So she probably grew up on the Prequels like Star Wars Theory did. When I first saw AOTC initially during a midnight showing and the theater was packed, I did enjoy it. When we first saw Yoda fight, I believe it drew the loudest cheers I ever heard for a Star Wars movie. Attack of the Clones got worse to me when I saw it more at home. I’m not a fan of that conveyer belt scene with C-3PO. Then all the ugly visuals when we get to the last act with Jedis fighting these giant insects in some Roman colosseum. The love story between Anakin and Padmé also felt forced, awkward, and cheesy. AOTC is not the worst movie I’ve ever seen. I might actually hate Indiana Jones and the Dial of the Destiny more than it. Even the worst SW to me is better than say She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, and Quantumania. Other than that cool opening 15 minutes and some fun lines from Obi-Wan, it fell flat by the 2nd act. There’s only 7 live action SW projects worth seeing in my eyes and watch them in the time they’re based in….
