    I love how people act like she would be recognized immediately! How? Did the the smallfolk look her up on Google or did they see her on the news? She almost never left the castle grounds unless on dragonback or on a ship! Cole is gone, Arryk is dead and most of the remaining Kingsguard are dumbasses who wouldn't recognize her if she walked right up to them. It was a huge risk but that is the point. It was important for Rhaenyra to find out if peace is at all possible. Now she knows it is go time and can act accordingly.

    I started listening to House of R when they started covering season 1 and I’ve cried many times since then. I was genuinely surprised at myself when I started to tear up, listening to Mal (1:31:46) quote Tywin. What a time in television! Of course, it made me think of Arya (in the books) and her journey through the Riverlands and I’m just very thankful to be able to listen and watch you two.

    To me this was one of the weakest episodes of the series. Definitely some great scenes (Harrenhal, Burning Mill, Green Council), but repetitive (two Black Council scenes that effectively do the same, another scene in which Aemond is curled up in Silvi's lap), some questionably modern and quippy lines ("It's a chair made of swords", "I just ring the bell"), and I low-key hated the last scene. Not the content of the conversation, although I'd have preferred the 'mistake' being an only-the-audience-knows thing, but the absurd setup. Why do it like this instead of setting up a simple parlay, that thing opponents have done literally throughout history? That was truly late GoT-level stuff.

  • @Regenmacher175

    @Regenmacher175

    9 күн бұрын

    LOL late GOT-level stuff is still better than 90% of tv, buddy. Plus, who would even recogise Rhaenyra? She never left the Red Keep unless on dragonback for the most part and then she went to live on Dragonstone for years. Daemon going to KL with his murdercloak and Ser Arryk sneaking into Dragonstone pretending to be his twin are fine but this somehow isn't? LOL.

  • @LaCheeserie

    @LaCheeserie

    @@Regenmacher175 exactly. Fair opinions, but the setup was risky, not absurd. Yes she is putting her life on the line, but her dying would not end any. She has heirs and Daemon. I don’t think the chair line is out of place but that’s me. I do agree on the two black council scenes. Could use that time to get to see more of a dragon seed, or more Jace and Bae.

    @@autje1970 So you're a book purist who cries every time something isn't like in your holy text, got it. Here's the thing: the maesters who are telling the histories in Fire and Blood wouldn't have been able to know about a secret meeting between the two of them anyway...because it was secret. So it doesn't contradict what's in Fire and blood either tbh. Also, Daemon's murdercloak is amazing.

  • @autje1970

    @autje1970

    @@Regenmacher175 I only cry when it's poor storytelling that raises more questions than it answers. I don't have a problem with the conversation between Rhaenyra and Alicent, but with how we got there. The trip from Dragonstone to King's Landing and back will take at minimum two days. Like, nobody on Dragonstone will miss her? Or nobody raises an eyebrow when there's a septa on a fishing boat? Given the political situation, no doubt all boats are checked when they return to port. All of this requires an amount of suspension of disbelief that is too big for me. The stuff in Harrenhal was also not in the book, but you won't hear me crying about that because it was actually good TV (minus Daemon's final line in the first scene).
