Actually, I believe Otto DID believe Alycent. It's just that in his mind (and plan made probably MANY YEARS before the king's passing,) Alycent's opinion and cooperation were NEVER a factor. He would have grabbed for power either with or without his daughter's consent. Remember, Otto is the guy who sent his 15 year old daughter to seduce a firmly middle-aged man.

@@vincegalila7211 Correct. I never wrote that Otto pushing Aegon wasn't unusual, even IRL where active/ virtual monarchies still exist (like North Korea today).

​@helifanodobezanozi7689 he absolutely did not believe that. He knew what viserys wanted and while I think the feelings he showed about viserys in this episode were true, he had his plans since he pushed young alicent on him.

@@FullMetalB Did not believe what? What I was referring to was that Otto believed that Alycent truly believed that the king had changed his mind. Otherwise, we are basically writing the same thing. Otto pushed/ pimped his young daughter onto the king, and regardless of if she eventually went along with his master plan, he was going for a power grab. For Otto at that point, the stars just happily aligned.

Great reaction Evie. One thing about Otto and the king. I believe the only time the King ever considered replacing Rhaenyra was at the boar hunt when Aegon was 3. And even that was a private conversation between the King and Queen. Otto knew the king thought Aegon was unfit because of the years of conversation about his bad behavior growing up. Probably Otto was gently pushing for Aegon, and the King resisted (or outright snapped once at Otto about his true feelings.)

I agree with you, Evie. I thought once Daemon put that crown on Rhaenyra's head any question of his being in any way opposed to her being queen was moot. I feel this is manufactured drama. Considering what is to come, this separation is bogus.
