I loved this interview! Not knowing his story it was fun to hear. When u all got to the Sugar Hill Gang that was my jam in 9th grade. Was listening to Curtis Blow as well. I was the only white girl singing those songs with my black friends in a little town in Eastern Washington. No one had heard of any of the music. Still singing Rappers today word for word long version also. LOL! Great trip down memory lane! Coming to Tulsa on my bucket list now adding the house to my must see stops there.
In 8th grade, I remember going into Sam Goody and buying my first CD with my birthday money. I had to strategically cover the parental advisory sticker from my mother so I could pump House of Pain. Thanks for bringing back that memory and loved the stories.
I know Danny wants to be the Outsiders guy now but I just have to say I've seen House of Pain multiple times starting in SF in 94. We talked to them outside their bus for a few minutes. Danny gave my friend his "Think" hat and then came out on stage with the same hat on LOL. I saw La Cola Nostra in my hometown in NorCal. They were opening for somebody and the crown didn't know who they were. I was wearing my HOP t-shirt from back in the day. I was up front and Danny passed me the mic when they were doing Jump Around so I got to do a few lines at the same time as Everlast. Shit I'll never forget.
In 92 it was all about Everlast. In 2023 it's all about Danny Boy. Love his story
