I wish it never ends

First game is about Tabatha escaping trauma. The sister Melody is always presented as a depressed sister that have unknown story and motivations. (Why does she die, and why does her flute affect the father.) Now that we play as her, her agency returned for the first time. Its so interesting how hostile Tabatha experienced it. Melody can kinda converse more, and is generally less violent and destructive. Melody also woke up to a house to that is in decay. It's residents a former shadow of themselves, so long that even whatever is pocessing them felt tired of their host. Its interesting to see Tabatha's viewpoints as being more singular and Melody sees different sides to their residents.

The time he puts in for us is unbelievable actually. Saw he woke up at 6am to add games to his list!!! Dude!!! He plays games for like 5-6 hours!!!! And finished usually at 4am. He is incredible and genuinely deserves every love and praise he gets.

Based on the observations of the commenters: it seems like among the two daughters, Melody was the closest one to the family while Tabby drifted away from them. Dunno if it has something to do with her being the older one. Even in the ending scene, the ghosts’ reflections (in the lake) were standing behind Melody while Tabby just sits far away from her. The comments from the grandma and Melody saying Tabby was stronger implied that Tabby was “the rebellious and tough one”. Maybe their sibling dynamic is “emotionally detached older sibling” and “empathetic younger sibling”? Which explains why Tabby’s run was more lonely and destructive. But if the game is just a metaphor then perhaps it’s because Tabby paved the way to escape. This got the parents reflecting on their wrongdoings so they weren’t as harsh when it was Melody’s turn to leave.

@@Just_a_piece_of_bread I believe this, given how Melody wakes up in a broken down house. The clock remains smashed, the puppet master (probably their grandfather) is dead, the hole where Tabby destroyed the house is still there under the carpet. Tabby paved the path of escape (her killing the puppet master is probably why Melody and the other family members were able to wake up in the first place) but couldn't because she didn't have any help from the family, Melody was the one that ultimately allowed them both to escape.

@@tomhsia4354 the only thing that bothers me are the endings both from tabbys ending and melodys ending, in tge first game tabby succesfully escaped and shown in the ending, is outside while in melodys ending she was still below the house and was needed to drag out of the house My theories is that... Tabby maybe went back after some time to try to save her family or her sister but the house/darkness made her faint in a way (probably by making her weak) and has been unconcious until melody found her And since its been a loop(again) then tabby hasnt been there for a long time explaining her body still being healthy and not skinny or even dead

@@Just_a_piece_of_bread both epilogue endings take place at the same time. tabby gets out _because_ melody gets saved and escapes herself the next day. the grandma comments on how tabby had always been the much stronger sibling. while the remaining family members had been far too gone to be saved and melody just not being strong enough being in her depressive fog, tabby possessed the power necessary to take the house on and break the cycle. and with the house essentially defeated, it starts to decay and physically break down. and with the house in its weaker state, allows melody to summon the strength in the same way tabby did and frees herself too.

I feel like the fact that Tabbi isn't on the reflection (because she's sitting leaning on the tree) isn't a coincidence but a symbolic thing.

I like how the neighbor, long neck and all, basically takes the girls in after their ordeal. Like she knew what was happening and she was willing to take them in after they survived.

It was great to see Melody's story play out with a whole new bad guy. Weird I always thought Melody was the older one of the sisters as she had a boy friend and no longer played with dolls, while Tabby was the younger 'more innocent' one. Also poor Tabby, doesn't seem like her family liked her too much from comments made throughout this and Tabby's run.

I don’t see it as the family not liking Tabby as much, personally. It looked to me more like the family has been freed a little by Tabby’s actions, so have more personality now and are more aware of the strange happenings in the house, though the house has adapted to Tabby’s leaving by trying to make the family forget about her. The dad is no longer possessed, but is, well, clearly not well, though he defends Melody as soon as a threat shows up. The mom might not be coping well, but she seems to now have some sort of understanding about what has been happening, given her memory of Tabby and the obsessive need to make sandwiches to placate the rat which could have killed Tabby, or presumably, Melody otherwise, while she was oblivious in the previous game-and when a threat shows up, she too defends Melody now, when I don’t believe she had the ability to in Tabby’s run. So Tabby freed them enough to be able to start trying to protect their daughter.

I like to think that the more you stay in the House, the more corrupted you become as a result of living in that place where time is perpetually reset. Tabby is the first person to break free and kill those who were on her way. Because she killed the puppet master of the house she was able to free herself. Because Tabby killed the puppet master, the House starts to deteriorate which gives Melody the chance to escape as she is less corrupted but someone who closely resemble the puppet master blocks her every time. She makes all her family remember how bad living the house is and they all decided to sacrifice themselves as they are too far gone.

Tabby having a more normal viewpoint of the house while Melody has a depressing viewpoint. Explains why she stays in her room most of the time. Melody also goes to the piano when tabby’s viewpoint was on, that’s her escape from reality. Something she wants to move a way from, probably her trauma.

interesting thing is that the piano becomes hostile to you here, almost like someone or something is intentionally taking away Melody's only stress reliever. Most likely it's the one responsible for the rest of the monsters inhabiting the house, they didn't get there on their own...

Just realised, that the neighbour appearing while the girls flip through TV channels might mean the neighbour more then likely took them in when they escaped the house.

This is a rare example of something being expanded upon endlessly purely out of a desire to make the existing thing better, putting in more to do. Not out of a desire to milk it (A little milking is fine, we all like money) to the detriment of everything that made it enjoyable in the first place. If I were to have my own game studio I would have my own designated long running milking franchise, not shy away from what it is, and in fact build part of that idea into the world itself.

I like the ending… it just feels sweet. No matter how much Melody doubted herself, no matter how much she felt like Tabby was stronger, she still acted, when she had the chance. She freed the spirits, gave peace to some of those in there, and then freed herself, alongside Tabby. Both of them are very interesting characters, and it’s nice to see that they care about each other. :)

I believe that the doll girl that you play "hide & go seek" game with -- is the faceless girl from the previous family that you met at that end - because she mentions that she wants to keep playing and not wanting it to end -- that and before you went down - the doll girl mentions making a "doll" of you too

It's like a happy ending we couldn't really get, Tabby's not alone anymore, and it looks like the where taken in by the nosey neighbor. Lol.

I love games like this, where you just go until you either die or figure out how to advance.

Kinda like the old games Deja Vu, Shadowgate, and Uninvited; except it doesn't have the same type of chilling horror in the latter two, nor does it have the snark if you kill yourself stupidly.

I really love how these indie games keep giving and giving. These are the kinds of developers I'll throw money at without any hesitance.

I really like this ending the sisters escape and they go live with the long neck neighbor who turns out is really cool and motherly in the ending!

It’s super endearing and terrifying that Manly always acts out the deaths. Thank you, Manly. 😄

For those who might be confused with the TV “level select,” the girls are in the neighbor’s house.

I really do enjoy this surreal title, it is of course a death fest game, but the story and the interactions all come together to make you feel like you do wish for the family to survive and live on, the ending was really good too, the 2 young ones lived on, and now live with an entity most odd.

@@DGneoseeker1 Because the only one who escaped the House was Tabby, made sense her sister was also stuck in this as well as the rest of the family. Her escaping with Tabby and having the rest of the family pass onwards brings closure to the whole game now.

So from what I gathered, the entity under the house was effectively the Heart of the House, Darkness if you will, it's the reason the father was possessed, this House was a sort of in between purgatory/limbo where the Darkness fed from it's victims until they became one with the darkness of the house, hence that one ending where Tabby embraces her father and become one with the darkness. Having Tabby kill that Darkness, left the reality limbo/purgatory that is the House in a state without a master to power it, which is why the House looks decrepit when we play as the Sister, because it's falling apart. There not being an entity, allowed Death/Reaper to come in and try to claim the souls of those Untainted by the darkness.

Its interesting how Melody (I believe thats her nam, correct me if im wrong.) was such a depressed character from Tabbys POV. Then when we get to Melodys POV the doll is herself telling her nothings worth it. It seems more sad then the other doll. Especially the whole comparing her to Tabby and things. The whole “maybe we should give up.” It’s interesting.

Melody is the name of Tabbys sister, or the name of the protag in the DLC

Well now I feel kinda of bad for the dad. He wants to help Melody like everyone else, even if the only way he can move is by crawling slowly like a snail.

So is this what happens to the sister after Tabby escapes the house? Canonically Tabby has escaped, but the depressed, suicidal sister is still trapped in this abusive household, the sister is out of her fog and is now motivated enough to attempt escape. On average it takes 7 times to leave an abusive relationship, that explains the several endings and waking up then. It's each failed attempt at leaving an abusive household, and the doll speaking in the endings is Melody's internal dialogue after each failed attempt at leaving. The house is even more warped and violent because Tabby has left, the mum is missing Tabby so her alcoholism is worse, the dad isn't going to work due to his alcoholism/depression and the abuse has escalated. Once Melody finally escapes she finds Tabby, reunites and they get adopted by the neighbour, who probably knew about how messed up the household was. Also the cat, the cat is adopted. This is only applicable is you take the entire game as a metaphor tho, if you take it literally this is a haunted, cursed house that lies outside of the space time continuum, being puppeteered by the grandad(?).

I think it could be both. The granddad is heavily implied to be the puppet master, we don't know what the bald man is. There are two entities corrupting the house, each one could be symbolizing something different.

I read from someone else's comment, and how it points out that the things that are typically hostile to Tabby are friendly to Mel (Father, Family Corpses, Giant Rat, Toilet Demon, etc.), but places where Mel died in Tabby's run are still/now hostile to her (Bathroom, Noose (Moved from Bedroom since that's where she spawns), Piano). I read from someone else about how the Father, no longer the focal point nor a hostile creature, is also especially passive compared to his antagonizing against Tabby. They say that could symbolize that the Father could have been softer on Mel by the time she was going to leave. Even if the family's problems are worse, Tabby's leaving could have her mom and dad rethinking on some things. And at the end, instead of harping on Mel further...they try to help her through her troubles with the house. And they did help, allowing Melody to finally escape. And the help seems to have a lasting effect on Melody, motivating her to help Tabby out, to return the favor.

This game is amazing. I can't believe they made more content for it.

I think the candle is a Sprit Candle, letting you see spirits you couldn’t otherwise see that had died in the house.

Ghost dance 10/10. Every time I see this game I'm surprised they add something new. What more could they add? Oh, an entire new puzzle set world, and a new protag that can face any situation.

All jokes aside, it might be Toby next. He was able to possess his own body so maybe it'll be like a gooigi/luigi thing. Tabby and Melody were able to pass into the real world so maybe it could be a thing where the ghosts have to pass into the afterlife

House reminds me of being a father. Only with a baby do you realize how fatal your home really is lol

Tabby and Mel are free; they live with the neighbor in a nice little house with their cat and the little snail. What a happy ending ♡ The only one that I'll miss the most is the lil frog

Re-logic with Terraria. I remember shedding a few tears because of Journey's End update. Although it was the menu music was what made me cry, the entire update was so massive it truly felt like it will be the last update. 2 years later and here we are with another update that adds a bunch of new things, just a week ago lol.

I love you this man doesn't get scared, he just says something like "what the" in a very chill monotone voice which makes this much easier for me to watch lmao

how I see it is that when tabby tried to escape everything in the house was hostile and angry. But when Mel woke up in the decaying house, everything was a lot calmer. With time and Decay came peace so they were more friendly.

by how everything played out and how all the interactions work, i think we can tell which is the more favored sister in the household was 😀

I think everyone was just more consious and aware of everything in Melody's run as Tabby killed the puppeteer. Melody was definitely liked by her grandma more, but it seems like their mom had Tabby as her favorite

This game is a trip. At first I thought it was quaint, but it really pushed its own boundaries. Gotta give it credit where it's due, the game has a pretty decent chunk of value within it.

I think that's a timeline of when tabby destroys the clock and by looking at the rope in melody room I think that she was planning to suicide but when tabby hand over the control to her sister she changed her mind I guess

I like how the father's deformation is consistent with Tabby's run. He always looked like a boneless creature with the way he moves, especially when you damage him. After such a long time of being corrupted, he can't even stand up in Melody's run. His hair kinda grew as well which is consistent with the fact that Tabby's escape was a long time ago.

The absolute horror in Manly’s voice when the rubber duck killed him the first time was priceless

_Master of the House_ No one else plays this game as well as our MBH! I really liked the additional story. I felt bad for the family. It was a good addition and ending to the saga.

This is the way the game pushes you to try the many different things it has

Manly : "Tree what are you doing? That ain't cool!" Also Manly : *Proceeds to stand where the tree pops out from the floor*

Damn melody got to escape from the house too? It’s so nice to see both of them escaped and lived along together a really good and happy ending Can’t wait to get more endings in the next update

By update 2.0 you'll be playing the father, and at 3.0 you'll be forced to play the monsters just to keep the House going.

Eithe the father will attempt to kill the AI driven tabby by avoding all the traps and attempt ro kill tabby within a time limit

We actually get to see Manly being shocked which don’t happen to often which is lovely

Becoming your sister is such an interesting concept. It is like you get to incarnate a loved one in order to save him/her

Hey, maybe the shadow holding the melody doll was a actually mellody's doll (i hope it makes sense...), with her seemingly knowing tabby's sister and saying that she wished 'it never ended' or that she could 'play with her forever'.

This place has suspicious amount of supernatural entities for such a small "game world"

House is the first video of manly's I saw, I've been a fan ever since and I'm glad to see the newer update! Thank you Manly, very cool :)

If using the movie's theme song wasn't enough, this game also references House (1977) by having a character named "Melody" who gets eaten by a piano.

I love how Manly just voice over each and every death with a surprised and stunned voice. So hilarious yet very manly of him

I have a feeling there's going to be separate DLC for each family member now. Here's my guess: Main Game: Tabby escapes from the House and is now free DLC1: Melody escapes from the house and is now free Now we're in theory territory DLC2: By breaking the clock on the ground in the kitchen as Melody, instead of stopping time, it runs time back. From here, you can now give control to your Mother. The events of the main game play out, but with the player controlling the Mother and Tabby running on a sequence of AI-based events instead. Save every member of the family including the cat, the rat and the doll (Melody automatically plays Hide and Seek with the doll during the AI procedure) as Mom and you'll win DLC3: With Mom free from this corruption, she guides Tabby and Melody along the house and teaches them how to avoid certain parts of it. You now have to face one final challenge involving all 3 main survivors with a lot of different ways that each one of them can and will be killed. Prepare for one helluva challenge, because this is going to get difficult. Every character has strengths and weaknesses you can use to get past certain sections, however every character is now vulnerable to every other character's methods of death. Break both the grandfather clock as Tabby and the kitchen floor clock as Melody to travel back in time to where Dad was first corrupted by this. In a brand new map, you have to use the survivors, their strengths and their weaknesses to influence everything behind the scenes without getting seen by Dad to prevent him from being affected by the house. Time to stretch it far here DLC4: With Dad now saved, each character has a series of 1 or 2 mini-events where you have to perform a series of simple tasks similar to the base game in order to save the enemies. Hallucinations of other corrupted survivors will appear and try to kill you during these mini events. Successfully save all the game's enemies as well and you get a single final ending. Note that since Dad never killed Toby here, Toby will be available as a survivors with his own strengths and weaknesses too.

Really like how the devs keep updating the game. By the end of its lifespan, it'll be called "House: 1000 deaths".

The song that the rat gives you when you feed it wine is Zelda’s Lullaby. Very neat way to hide a reference

I wasn't expecting this at all. Yesterday I randomly decided to watch through all your other House vids despite already seeing playthroughs from other creators in the past, then it updates the very next day and you make a new video.

They have grown this game so much im glad they still have ideas for it

This developer surprises me yet again. I keep thinking it's done, and then they add more content that easily could have been DLC or in this case a sequel but as a free patch. Excellent stuff, I love the new version of the house. Some fun deaths, nice puzzles, and an ending that's about as much as you can improve on the true ending. Fantastic to see.

Can we just appreciate him for doing it all over again whenever he gets a game over
