If you would use the second color cut on the bias you could easily make a seminole border this way. Looks to me like the cut ends will match. Having the outside edge strip cut on the bias the cut border would be NOT on the bias with no fabric waste

Jan-Maree W - 10" are not recommended using shortcut sheet method due to waste on outside of sheet. Order your Hourglass Shortcut Sheet (only $6.95) to get the 5 dimensions calculated. Go to Kitsbycarla.com/store.
I was told that pressing seams open weakens the seam.

Yes, my methods are non-traditional and many rules are broken but not without reason. Open seams are straight, when pressed to the side, there is a slight curve. Also, if you do enough quilting and if you shorten your stitch length, your seams will be strong enough.
