Houdini cable modelling recording

A lot of people have asked me how I make the cables I make in Houdini, this is a small recording of the simpler base pass of that setup, to share some knowledge and help people get started.

Thanks Brady! Yeah the idea was to do a fast video so you don't have to watch through a long booring video, and pause if find it interesting at appropiate places.

Thank Victor, I just posted a video about how I generate more optimized cable meshes. When you ask about texture/shading are you thinking about the Blender renders ?

0:28 when I type @hit = intersect(1, @P+@N*.02, @N*dist, hitp, hituv); As I check the speadsheet, all @hit was -1, so all my point was remove. Did i do smth wrong? (I increase the distance to 100 still cant fix the problem).

At 2:41you change the foreach method to Fetch Feedback, then at 2:42 the wires become instantly tidier, what did you change?

@1:59 you create a subnet seemingly out of nowhere. Almost dragging it into existence. Is there a shortcut for doing this? Possibly just the way the video is edited.

What happened is that I recorded with OBS set to the Houdini window and it didnt capture the menus so that is why it looks like that, however you could most likely make custom shortcuts like that one way or another since houdini is such a programmable tool.

@@magnuslarsson2323 Ah I see no all good I just wondered if there was a way to create nodes without the tab menu I didn't know about. Thanks for the reply!
