Hotone tell me that making a great effects processor is so much more than just high quality sounds and I agree. Indeed this close up inside and out review is designed to show you EXACTLY what other 'reviewers' never do. So did Hotone adhere to their own words? Find out in this inside and out closeup.
I personally bought the Hotone Ampero 2 Stomp after reviewing the Ampero older unit that I also bought myself (review here: • Hotone Ampero Review I... ) and was impressed at what you got for the price. In the case of the Stomp II well, the unit looked smaller, there was no obvious expression pedal and it looked far less of a bargain at first sight.
But in reality, looks can deceive, and so it was with the Ampero II Stomp. In fact there are far more plusses than minuses with this device as you will learn in this review. While I do show many aspects of the unit that no-one else does or will, I do also show just how great this little pedal is and with no holds barred approach about anything I found a little questionable.
Also importantly there are sound samples of around 10 pre-sets and a rock/metal track to get the pedal in more of a context to what I actually play. But rest assured this stomp II certainly is suitable for all styles and even bass guitar. I use pre-sets because if it sounds good with those, imagine how good it will sound when you tailor your tones in there!
My overall score is reflective of a product that might have had just a little bit more care applied when being manufactured, but the score as far as the sounds are concerned show the unit as very capable actually. Had I not found the internal issue I showed then the device would have made a 10/10 score... sadly on this example as supplied it did not. Always be aware that YOU could have bought this exact unit.
