Музыка

The Hotone ampero has been around a while but look closer as we show you things you did not know inside and out.

This amplifier simulator and effects unit for guitar, keyboard and more has stood the test of time, and at about 18 months or two years down the road it stands up there with many of the newer but similar devices.

We examine how the Hotone ampero is made inside, discuss the processor and components. The I look at the control hardware, and later the control software.
Lastly I discuss warranty (you can still buy this device) and offer a score based on my experience. Find out what you might not have known before you saw this video.
I did have a switch: a 2-way that was thrown in when I bought this unit off eBay. This is NOT an hotone ampero 2 or hotone ampero one, and not the hotone ampero 2 stomp, but this review is a precursor to a comparison of the new stomp which I will review in a week or so against the Ampero original.
This video is entirely created from my own money and time involved and there is no sponsorship whatsoever, that's why this is a genuine and true review! Remember that, then subscribe and click for all notifications to make sure newer reviews like the stomp you get notified about.
There is no guitar playing in this review as that is for the next review of the stomp pedal.

    Hello Tony..I love your show and website..you are the only few that actually answer ALL my comments..wow! Sorry off topic...Can I suggest reviewing some British in production made boutique amps such as Hylight..Dover...Hiwatt Custom...Cornell..Cornford... Fortin..Hamstead...Matchless and others that slips my mind..really interested in these the other side of the pond amps and really interested what is inside and compare them to big name amps...just a suggestion..Maybe you can make a thematic review British Amps Review

    I do get asked from time to time to do specific amps and I do consider them. Problem for me is that I tend to look at gear that I 'might' potentially keep as I have to buy everything. The costs are ginormous overall. So I am very careful what I buy. I have tried amps on a few occasions that ended up not being something I keep and in those cases divide by two cost against sale... sadly that's the way of life. I will bear your comments in mind and if I find any at the right price you might see the odd one or two - but I can't guarantee it... but I get the point of course... and thanks for the comment.

    No, what it was is that the microphone (the lapel Sony one) was too near my neck, then it dangled (you'll see it on the video now I mentioned it :) and as it was the first video and new owl tee shirt (:-) it sort of worked :) but the newer stuff will improve - it just takes me time to get things where I want them. On room noise well that was always there for nearly 30 years. I always mix to headphones and always find that the best way because the bass trembler changes the mix through speakers... the bass is in the finals though.

    I’ve had this unit for 2 years. It’s a solid build and the presets are a lot more useable out of the box. It’s best for heavier and clean tones. It will clean up with the volume knob. The three most negative things are no effects loop so 4CM. And the reverbs. It doesn’t have the processing power for ambient tones. Lastly the tech support are fellow users on Facebook and many are helpful but the company is hit and miss. So, if those aren’t deal breakers and you can get a deal then I’d suggest one. Sounds pretty decent the the impulse responses off through a clean tube amp.

    Owned mine for about a year - tones, flexibility, I/Os are fantastic. Reliability is a concern. In the time I’ve owned it (babied, mostly used for recording and teaching lessons) the power supply has failed, and now the #2 foot switch has stopped working; trying to get an exchange through the vendor as we speak. As far as algorithms, tech and flexibility, Mooer, NuX, Hotone etc. are highly competitive…but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for! A cheaper unit will reveal its cost savings one way or another…

    The one feature the Hotone products lack is the "snapshot" or "scenes". It's one of the reasons I have been considering the POD Go even though the Ampero sounds fantastic

  • @jeremyhussein5649

    @jeremyhussein5649

    Won't the Ctrl knob act like a snapshot? I mean you can turn on/off multiple effect with it.

  • @Mega_trav

    @Mega_trav

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@jeremyhussein5649 I guess that sort of counts. With the POD Go you get 4 snapshots per preset. They can be set to turn effects on or off but they can also be used to change parameters of any block. For example, a snapshot can turn on a delay, increase your amount of reverb, increase gain on the amp/pedal you have loaded for that preset. It can be handy if you have a set list and play the same songs frequently.

  • @tonymckenziecom

    There is no doubt that the 'snapshots' on Line6 products is VERY useful... I use them on a Helix all the time... good point.

    For what I currently need , this is more than enough. It's the cheapest unit that has a quite decent dynamic response BTW , you didn't mention that you can tweak the order of the effects, which is something not available in the entry level multieffects/amp modellers . Looper allows to record dry or processed signal. The patch volume function is something that you get only in the more expensive units. And last but not least, ampero allows tweaking mics and mic position even on a custom IR . I know it's just a filter thing, yet none of the other units ( to my knowledge ) allow this.

    Yes thanks for pointing it out... TBH there is so much to try and cram in... I'm currently on the Ampero II Stomp review and there really is no way I can cover it all - well over an hour and I have yet to record the music! But interesting when it gets posted watch that - it is interesting to compare...
