meeting old classmates after not seeing each other for 10+ years

i like the detail in this scene. beard, thick skin, evan and richter all are skeletons bc they are the ones that end up dying in a nuke. the son looks like he went splat, Jack has a bullet wound in the head while the henchman has a smashed head, and Martin has the 6 same bullet wounds from the set.

I really like how they all die from how they die in the story

So, it seems like richard (possibly jacket) is the only one left alive. all the others died by terrible means, nukes, mutilation, and... wrong numbers.

+321haiqal Jacket died too. The only other way to look at this is that the masks and people that wear them are aspects of Jacket's insanity. As each one "dies" Jacket is made whole again. The nuke is the peace that comes from this revelation, as the true person has the lies burned away. (Though I suspect Jacket is US and the whole thing is a commentary on our propensity for mindless violence and pretentious art to make it more palatable) Just my take.

Jacket didn't really die.You can see him at the end of the game sitting on a bed in the jail.

How do you know that its a nuke? Are you talking about a theory or i missed something in the game?

Richard is like the death in this game.

There is something comical about watching chicken man roast ppl so hard they turn into corpses

I love this intro and this theme

I have a question: is it Jacket or Richard sitting in the chair? On one hand, when Richter tries to appologize to Richard thinking that he is Jacket (because he has the same outfit and mask as Jacket) for everything he had to do, he replies that he is not who Richter thinks he is. On the other hand, when Beard asks Richard if they met before, Richard replies that they actually did. However, we've never got to see any cutscene where Beard were speaking with Richard. Even if they met off-screen, i don't see any circumstances under which they could've met. However, Beard was a close friend to Jacket and Richard has the same outfit as his friend did. Is it really Richard? Is he lying to one of them?

Shuriken255's Channel Well from what we know Jacket doesn’t speak at all, and he doesn’t even meet most of these characters. I believe that it is in fact Richard. There isn’t really anything to back that up, but we know it isn’t Jacket due to the mask moving and knowing that Jacket doesn’t speak. Also there is the fact that Richard tells Richter that he isn’t who he thinks he is. The only person Richter knows in a chicken mask is Jacket.

It is (I believe) Richard. Richard comes to you when you seal your fate through your own actions. Beard is the only one between them that, 1) you play as, 2) doesn't seal his fate. Richard guided him through death, when even though he didn't take action (or inaction) to seal it.

It's confusing, but it is still Richard. If you play The Abyss, the secret level of the game, you'll find a bunch of people in a bunker wearing the masks of Jacket, Don Juan and many others. The one wearing the Jacket mask speaks, but the beak isn't moving, meaning it isn't Richard. In this cinematic, it is Richard since the beak moves. Maybe Beard had flashbacks with Richard.

Plain Richard, in the first HM he was another character. If we look further in this game, you can see Richard appearing before a character dies (except for Many, Evan and Beard)

Richard is like the idea/mythos that Jacket inspired when we began those killings for the 50 Blessing's organization. An enigmatic symbolic figure of judgement and violence. The actual person that Jacket is, our silent protagonist is not the same as the idea of him that all the side characters have this dream-like interaction with. Richard doesn't exist except for everyones' subconscious idea of the rooster mask assassin. Because this idea is based on Jacket, people conflate the two and think Jacket and the idea of Richard is the same, but they aren't. Even Jacket interacts with this idea of Richard as well, but he remains that, some vague foreboding of things to come.

and Biker is still alive

Kind of interesting to see how the only playable character not present, but is in the bar of broken heroes... Biker? Does he survive the apocalypse?

Levels are reversed horizontally and vertically, more enemies, more dodgers (The guys that duck under your bullets), no lock on : hotlinemiami.wikia.com/wiki/Hard_Mode There's all the differences

Biker and jacket were the only hotline miami 1 protagonists and they both are not here. That probably means that is just a hole in the plot or devs forgot/got lazy since jacket and biker both did some shit.

I just realized the cutscene is flipped because it is hard mode

+AngloZombie Richard represents several things. The developers, death, and an omniscient narrator. He is neither one of those things and he is one of those things. Somewhere inbetween lies the truth. It's an emotional impression.

Let me make it simple for you, he is the same Richard that jacket met with alongside don juan and rasmus in the secluded room in hotline one, he serves as both a narrator and a grim reaper of sorts, the reason it's not jacket is because jacket was put in jail during hotline Miami 2.
