I grew up in Blackpool and knew Sue and her daughter quite well, I would play with Victoria and as a child I absolutely loved the hotel, I always wanted to stay over and I loved the big stiletto chairs, the decoration, everything! Sue was the life and soul of the party and brightened any room she walked into. As a child I have very fond memories of Sue and Victoria and the hotel. I never knew the prices, and as my mum was single and low income, she could never afford a room for a night, but if she could have done, im sure it would have been a treasured memory. Looking back now it's clear that Sue was using her grown up money for all the things she missed out on as a child but because it was emotionally supportive to her she felt attacked when her hotel was attacked, because the child in her was living this magical fantasy. She was a funny, kind and bright woman full of soul, and her daughter was and is so intelligent and hard working and made so much out of herself too.

What a terrible waste of time, effort and money. She could have made this into a thriving little business and happily retired. Instead she probably ended up bankrupt owing the bank a small fortune. This folks is why banks don’t lend so much for small businesses anymore and interest rates are ridiculous 🙄

I believe there are myriad reasons for high interest rates and why a small business may not be approved for bank loans. Perhaps you've had someone tell you otherwise in your pursuit, but I'm certain it's not the only reason industry-wide.

This show was filmed in 2006.........PEOPLE, AS A COMPARISON: We took our kids to DISNEY WORLD in September, 2007 from Northern California to Orlando, Florida....for SEVEN NIGHTS.....including R/T airfare (2,800 miles each way) , R/T bus transfers from airport to/from the resort, park tickets and transportation to/from the parks for the entire visit for all of us, 2-themed adjoining hotel rooms at mid-priced Port Orleans ("Princess Tiana & the Frog" alligator-bayou themed) including GIANT pool with jazz singing alligators and slides, with the dining package (2 main meals, 2 snacks EACH daily at any of the Disney World restaurants (plan your itinerary and make reservations months ahead!)) for 2 adults & 4 kids!!!!!!!! It averaged to $715/night TOTAL (Total vacation cost for six of us divided by 7 nights) Why would anybody pay $400/night for that tatty, manky hotel room with none of the Disney parks, hotels or dining amenities, transportation or airfare for a week?????? (BTW, I am aware that you cannot find that kind of deal for Disney these days... with inflation and their current insatiable quest to upcharge everything, but it happened in 2007 and we had a fantastic dream-come-true vacation.... it was so great, that we did it again in January 2009 which was also pretty epic!

I think one of the problems is that if you want to do a themed room you need nice quality toys, not cheap nasty looking toys. Paint 99 Dalmatian’s on the wall and 2 soft ones somewhere else. It’s just not done very well. You’re not trying to entertain Sue, your are trying to entertain your guests. They march with their feet if they hate it and that’s what is happening.

When the worker found an infestation under the flooring and all that jumble, you wonder what other horrors are there even after the tidy up. Vile place and so tacky and grubby. I wonder what Health & Safety would conclude after a visit. The place looked hazardous. So much tat. I wouldn't want my child rolling around that place. Dust and germ collectors. Such an unhygienic place. I'm surprised too, the council allowed the terrible outside presentation to exist. The prices were extortionate and her reasoning was unbelievably dumb. She'd be better getting a licence to run a day crèche for parents to leave their children so they could have an adult break. Obviously with all the H&S regs in place with a Nursery Nurse present.

Shocking prices and the owner is scary frankly. Ugly, dirty hotel and I felt sorry for Ruth. Thank you for uploading these.

Glad to say that all of the Ruth Watson episodes are now available on the channel. : )
She's unaware that she would frighten children! And those prices!!
All those handprints on the basement door is creepy af! 🫣
Loved this episode thank you for sharing,
I remember this watched all the hotel inspector since it started thanks for the upload totally bonkers with a bonkers price to match
I hadn't seen that one ! What a challenge for Ruth........everything looked so grimy and dirty and tacky ☹
I think Sue should be building theater stages. She is creative minded, not business minded.
Wow thanks been looking for this episode for years. Such a funny one!
Am I the only one who thinks that the Atlantis dining room actually looks brilliant ?!

Not to be mean but yikes
Omg this is my favorite episode ever. Thank you for uploading this. This episode was so different from the rest. Sue was so resistant to Ruth's advice. I feel like I remember seeing years later that Sue had ditched the children's theme and went more up market focused. Maybe it was her daughter's project/idea.
The owner is the most obnoxious one ever.
@rosemarymee
2 ай бұрын
Not obnoxious- just deluded. It’s quite sad, really.
Sue strikes me as ADHD-type. And yes, as someone else commented - using her grown up money to fix the childhood she didnt get. 😢 She seems bubbly and genuinely warm, but not suited to successfully running a business.
What I would wonder is what is beneath all that junk. Is the hotel in good repair? How can they possibly clean the mess properly and is it a fire hazard?
@lynnedelacy2841

It was sold in disrepair for only £53k
I wouldn't let my dog stay there. And he is not fussy.🐕
Why not open a kids playcentre instead, seems more her thing. Play rooms, mini cinema etc. and run it as a place to bring your kids while on holiday for parents to have a break.
@HAMWICH90

I think this is probably the best comment! Definitely a really good suggestion! I'm sad the business-people in the episode never thought of it. It definitely seems like it would fit her personality type better.
Sue should have heard the other hoteliers feedback direct. It may have had more impact.
What a total rip off. £400 for a dingy room stuffed with charity shop tatt. Then the affront to charge an extra £10 for limp salad, cheapest cuts of ham and green hard boiled eggs wrapped in wrinkly cling film.😣
No longer exist now flats etc.

Thank goodness - the mad woman was really scary, as was her tacky take on things
People have not mentioed that people who love their kids do not want to holiday with lots of other kids. They want a break Also she does not understand that lots of people are there for outside attractions not to jang in the hotel .They .might hang out in a luxury hotel not this. She is in her head money
I realize this is an old video, but my god. This woman is delusional at best. I’d see these rooms and run!
I love this lady Ruth so much!

More like an episode of hoarders
The idea is good in principle but good god it's done so poorly... The mannequin had no hair and a missing arm 😂
This is insane. I would pay money to not stay here. When she says that if she takes all the props away, people will complain, who exactly is she talking about? She has NO GUESTS!
The price!!!!! I would be shocked today at those prices. The decor is scruffy and down at heel. I wouldn’t stay there even for a bargain basement price. Very off putting
Where's the hotel going wrong ! Straight away when you said from 220 to 300 a night id expect a 5* at that price in blackpool
looked like a lot of old dirty junk ..everything was so dirty and tatty ..yuck !
Shocking that wouldn't stay there free
Sorry at 14:28 did she just say that a renowned hotel inspector doesn't know what she's talking about? Omg no wonder your place shut down because you don't want to listen. Yes you say your hotel is directed towards children but as you were told its the parents who book the hotel not the kids. I would swipe right past your hotel I don't want to go to a hotel full of other ppls children and your prices omg
Thank you for uploading this!❤
Horrendous! Where was the accommodation for parents?
New episode I have not seen!!!
Ruth Watson reminds me of the late great comedienne Victoria Wood.
She's scary and so is her "hotel "
I'd have to do drugs to stay there😮😂😂😂
I think I saw this place on a criminal minds episode.... but there were more puppets Pretty sure her daughter was there too. Seriously though, I can't believe how deluded these two are.
Sweet Jesus!
I would not pay her prices even in the classiest hotel in Blackpool! I mean. BLACKPOOL?!!! I thought the narrator said "Children's DARTS Festival"!! Not "DANCE Festival" HA HA HA!! Then again it is Blackpool. Would not surprise me if it was DARTS!

I do not even understand the concept.....
The new Barby-room is a. good example Sue could take advantage from for redecorating her other Rooms. But sincerely NO, Wouldn't I want to go there with my Kids. NEVER! although, there may be the Odd perverse Customer who might. A bit Sad all this! I only hope Ruth can choose her Fights ?

These days the Imperial would certainly not be one to use as an example
Sue has no business head. Unless she changes she has no hope of being a successful business owner.
She reminds me of one of those terrible contestants on BGT who think they have talent!
