This never gets old even after all this time.

That's how it's done. A perfect live performance of a perfect song. These guys were beyond professional. One of these nights and Witchy Woman are great choices for the next listen.

My neighbors could always tell when my wife and I were home. Between this album, Boston, and a Night at the Opera. Still had my quadraphonic stereo and four speakers that I'd bought in Japan in 73and what's the use of having that stuff unless it's on 10. We were just married in June of that year, 76, and still married today. Have a great day kid !

Ain't that the truth! - I had forgotten about it until one day I asked my audio engineer son to download Santa Esmeralda "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" for me & when it started playing, the music was bouncing all over his studio. He was shocked.😂You kids think 'Surround Sound' is new. We called quadraphonic in the 70s.

This was THE song to play at birthday parties when I was a kid. Still tastes as good 47 years later. Cheers!

They all sing. Don Henley sings this one (and would sing more subsequent hits). For a treat, check out "Take It To The Limit" from this concert. That one features Randy Meisner (bassist) singing. His voice is incredible.

This is my 1st time to your channel.

In the 80s, in clubs in Europe, they generally broadcast 2-3 'bamba' like (*) songs and then a series of 3-4 'slow' music on which people danced in pairs one against each other. Hotel California was 'the' classic. (*) On the 'bamba', people on the dance floor formed a dancing circle, and a few people in the middle chose a person of the opposite sex in the circle, the man put one knee on the ground, the woman sat on the other knee and they exchanged 2 kisses on the cheek, the person who had chosen then joined the circle and the chosen person in turn chose another person... Imagine this incredible time, it was absolutely brilliant, couples formed live every Saturday evening! and that why old couples usually have 'a song' over here. My buddy and I, who were known in the place we frequented, had fun kissing women directly on the mouth with the tongue and all! we never received a single slap in the face... I feel bad for young men these days.

Suggestion? You should have the lyrics up and follow along. The power of these lyrics and interpretation is a huge part of why this song is so iconic. “On a dark desert highway” opens like a movie….

The guy in the red bandanna is Joe Walsh, one of the best. Listen to his Funk Number 49 and then Life's Been good to me. And the Eagles never made a bad record.

Great choice for most poignant lyrics...You can chew forever on what kind of dance would you love to remember, but long to forget...my other favorite is the last lines, "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave." about the nature of fame and perhaps hell itself (as referenced with the "This could be heaven or this could be hell" intro line) You can never become un-famous...in-famous, yeah, but that's just another kind of fame...so you can check out in the mental or even physical sense, but you can never leave the mythology of the culture, just as you can give in to the tortures of hell, but you are still stuck in hell...Such good songwriting...Keep up the good work, peace yo!

Glad you loved this video. While this is probably my fav from the Eagles they have dozens of other hits and classics. Just a suggestion for your reaction videos. Please enlarge the video screen to at least big enough to cover your couch beside you. some people have poor eyesight or watch on a phone so I'm sure they would appreciate that, and I like watching their guitar strumming. Liked your energy and enthusiasm.

The bottom neck of the guitar has 6 strings and the top neck has 12 strings.

Eagles performing the Don Henley hit "Dirty Laundry" is a really good listen. It's a critique of the media and their rabid pursuit of documenting the misfortune of others.
