So I used to collect a lot of statues for this reason alone.. I was afraid to pose my figures because of those things you mentioned in your video but I was also impatient in learning how to pose my figures efficiently until I started to follow channels and Facebook groups that I find people are actually having a blast posing these figures. Eventually I sold most of my statues and started focusing on 1/6th collecting and gave it another shot.. well guess what, I actually started to enjoy my collection more because of the simple poses I could do and not every figure has to have a dynamic pose like my previous statues did. So for that I can truly see the art in 1/6th collecting.

Great video! I do get a little bothered when I see people’s collections and all the figures are in museum poses or weird poses. I wouldn’t say I’m the best poser either but these collectibles are so expensive that they’re worth playing with a bit to get them into cool poses. It doesn’t even have to be that dynamic most of the time. I also agree that looking at source material can be a great tool to find a good pose. I like to look at movie posters or comic covers/panels for inspiration.

The only figure I worry about is my beloved Thranduil . No crazy poses , but every day I put him to sit on a throne and every night I put him to sleep in his 1/6 bed 😅. So I move him daily . I just can’t not make it comfy for him and I wanna interact with him every day 🥹 I need him to last forever though 🥺

Good deal!
Museum poses work for me cause it gives me the most amount of space on my shelf 😅. I'm slowly but surely starting to pose my spidermen. Not sure if film accurate purists would get upset, but I would be 100% fine with Hot Toys using the Scarlet Spider material on their spidermen going forward.

Shelf space IS a plus for the museum pose
I'm glad I'm not the only one not afraid to pose. My opinion, is if I'm spending all this money on a figure, I want to get the most bang for my buck. To me, that means posing a figure as Hot Toys intended on (why else would they make movable joints and eyes???)

Glad you touched on simple movements like head tilt or standing posture can really bring out a ton of personality in a character even if the pose isn't super dynamic. I tend to go for those simpler but illustrative poses since they take up a lot less room in the shelf and still allow the character to fit on their stand.

Those are good points about them being "action figures", not expecting them lasting forever and enjoying them. I agree with you but I still avoid PU leather heavy figures if i can (can't totally avoid them though specially with belts/boots of some figure, i hope the acrylic finisher keeps them from peeling). I don't have that Scarlet Witch - by any chance that the pants is made from those nylon materials that HT is highlighting for Starkiller and dark empire Luke? On rubber suit, spider armor mk4 might be the most restrictive one :p

My attitude with posing (and this is especially true with Spiderman) is that I try to find that perfect pose that's so great, I will probably never want to change it anyway. So if the suit needs to be creased in a way that could permanently damage the material, that's OK because that pose will never change anyway. It makes me wish they didn't use rubbery materials so much for characters like Spiderman because rubber is the worst when it comes to permanent, damaging creases (fabric is much more movable and forgiving) but it is what it is. I agree with your point that you can get a cool pose using subtle means instead of crazy, comic book posing that could cause damage.

Hey dude. Do you have any recommendations for what display bases I can use with rubber-like suits Like the HT Classic Spider-Man from the game line. The Waist clamps are leaving marks on my Spidey Hot Toys. I’d appreciate recommendations, because I still like dynamic flight stands but the clamps are damaging the material.
@KeCoCollects
Ай бұрын
That's a tough one. I know some people put additional foam around the clamps, but outside of that, I'm not sure. I try not to use the stands too much 🫠 - essentially add something in between the clamp and the suit

Serious question as someone who is getting into 1/6 collecting. Why does everyone pay so much for the figures, just to put them in boring displays like you and all other youtubers. Why not build a cool looking diorama and reduce the figure count a bit to make the ones you actually really like, stand out and not look out of context? Seriously, like you have figures worth thousands and yet all you do is put them behind glass in a dead boring scene and put spotlight on them... Why not investing a bit into building a nice diorama and display like only 3-4 instead of smashing 10 + figures into one department like chickens in a chick farm.
