CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Col. Walters (Richard Crenna) and Michelle (Brenda Bakke) visit Topper (Charlie Sheen) at a Thai kickboxing match.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Movie references, sight gags, silly puns, and double entendres abound in Hot Shots! Part Deux, Jim Abrahams' sequel to Hot Shots -- only now the object of the skewering is the Stallone Rambo movies instead of Top Gun. Charlie Sheen returns as the lunk-headed Topper Harley, who has retreated to a Buddhist monastery after being dumped by Ramada Rodham Hayman (Valerie Golino). In this far-off retreat, the monks have "taken a vow of celibacy, just like their fathers and their fathers before them." But Topper bulks up and goes back into action when his superior officer, Colonel Denton Walters (Richard Crenna) is captured by a Saddam Hussein look-alike, missing somewhere between "Iraq and a Hard Place." Topper charges into Iraq (after barreling through a Beverly Hills barbecue) along with sexy CIA operative Michelle Rodham Huddleston (Brenda Bakke) in tow, his guns ablazing.

Yeah ... The ending of the fight is cut from this clip, though. He gets up and grabs Topper. IIRC some knife or something is involved. What follows is a tickle from topper followed by a literal nutcracker that incapacitates the whole audience in pain-by-proxy aside the military dude who somehow endures it and the girl. The dude spits out two walnuts, proclaims in a high pitched voice that topper won and falls down unconscious. Guess it is cut from this clip because it would be to sexual for youtube guidelines or something.

Counting all the jokes aside, my favorite part is that the whole fight is treated as if it was a run of the mill sport. You have to buy tickets, there's a subway before entering the ring, you have a designated spot in the gathering crowd, there's the commentators. With each scene the fight loses a bit more of it's edge and I love it

Unfortunately the American Gladiators thing at the end is a really dated joke. Younger folks can't get it unless it is explained, and then it's still a bit abstract. Everything else is a clean reference to a decent movie. The Platoon/Apocalypse Now/ Wall Street reference is quite possibly the greatest lead-up and trifecta payout in parody history.

+whitestriderable I would have loved that too but, somehow I would think that Topper, Ramada, and President Benson died at the very end of the movie as they were flying in their helicopter out of Iraq because they flew into the sun which happened after they caused the piano to fall on Saddam Hussein. So for that, they wouldn't have a third film if the main character which is Topper Harley died. Unless they made a third film with a new main character.

+Maciej P That sounds like a good idea. It could involve Buzz Harley (the father of Topper Harley) before Topper was born. Just like "The Hobbit" films are prequels to "The Lord Of The Rings" films since Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin are not on it where I guess Frodo wasn't born during "The Hobbit" films.
