Scott - Glad to see this review. Good job! When the trailer of this effect was released, I discussed with a few people how this looked terrible. For some reason, magic companies keep producing these "STRANGE" looking props that SCREAM "gaff" from a mile away. It has all become a cash grab. Keep up the good work.

Whilst i generally agree with sentiment that there are a lot of props that come out that do look suspect, i would disagree in this instance that this is the case. The world is full of weird and wonderful coins for either a holistic use or just for fun. I've performed with double sided coins for a while and always used normal looking coins and i believe the suspiciousness of the coin comes from over use of the gimmick. Even if it looks normal after a while a spectator will start to wonder if its the coin really doing the work. The type of coin used i don't believe plays a part in that thinking unless it looks and feels like a cheap knock-off of a real coin in circulation. These coins are really nice and well made and don't believe they scream gaff. I've even had people ask where they could get one because they like the way it looks, to which i obviously lied and gave some BS of where i got it. So whilst I'm not a fan of the routines involved in this project i will admit that i love this coin and would purchase it on its own if that was an option.

I agree 100% with your highly critical review of HOT. Absolutely appalling, the coin(s) look awful and as you say, far too small. I am sure you will receive heat over this review and I take my hat off to you for your honesty and courage to tell it as it is. Few( if any) do this. Keep up the good work!😊

Unbiased magic review is extremely biased, and the guy isn’t even a magician. The videos of him “performing” are atrocious so I would be leery of taking his advice. He certainly has his bias and thinks he knows what he’s talking about.

Appreciate the honesty here! Love the 1914 but I think this needed way more transparency in the trailer.

I don’t use any specific routine and it’s certainly a long way off being perfected. Not something that’s ready to share. I know a magic historian who’s older and more knowledgable than me. His father recently passed away but when I see him I’ll ask if he knows any which hand resources for you.

I don’t perform a specific routine but use the coins with parts of routines that I’ve learned over the years. My personal routine is far from perfected and not something that’s ready to share. There are LOTS of teachings with the “which hand” principle but they’re spread out over lots of books, downloads, lectures etc….but I simply review products. I’d recommend looking at other reviewers like Unbiased Magic Reviews to see if he has a “top 5” video on the effect.

I just don’t understand how they could think people would be happy with them. Especially when half dollar is generally a standard size for coin magic. 🤷‍♂️

I’d consider waiting to see if they release an improved version from my feedback. The coins are so small that your spectator is likely to drop them. I actually like the idea of the product a lot. If they improved it with a Plus version with larger (and magnetic) coins it would be worth £50 or £60.

Foolishly pre-ordered this. Boy is my face red. They even had to replace my coins because they all looked completely different colours! The routining is so dumb - taking the coin back repeatedly just introduces so much unnecessary suspicion. I only pre-ordered because of my respect for The 1914 and Alexander. His billet masterclass was incredible. I'll wait for reviews like yours in future.

Exactly! Taking the coin back to “show” the result only to place it back in their hand. It has potential but it’s an unfinished product. Yes, it’s always better to support reviewers and see what we have to say before deciding to spend your hard earned money.

The best which hand effect without any props is the VERBALIST method explained in "V2 by Manos Kartsakis". It is impromptu and highly practical. I really like it a lot. It becomes one of my favourite EDC effect.

Definitely need to try to see through the bs. There are lots of gems and a lot of people don’t talk about them. You’ll find some on my channel. This is why I sometimes review old effects. They’re better than what’s being released.

Absolutely correct. The coins are awful. Way to small and can't make out which is yes or no.

Wow… amazing that any magic company would market a double sided coin routine in 2024

I wonder if they're using small, hard to read custom coins to try to minimize the chance of people noticing they are holding a double sided coin. Also the final phase is terrible. A 2 way out that obvious is no way to end a trick.

Always. Although I do state what you’ll receive the reason I called my channel “Pro” was because I’ve been a professional magician for over a decade and unlike 99% of reviewers, it’s still my main job. I know the deflating feeling of receiving a poor product is and I don’t want anyone to feel that way. So I try to inform people to make good decisions that they’ll be happy with.

I was extremely disappointed. It's hard to tell whether it's the head or the heart. I will never demonstrate this effect because I know full well that there will be people who will not recognize it, whether head or heart, and will look at the other side. I also don't understand why a magnetic coin isn't used. A waste of money!!

Why do you say it’s a “which hand” rotuine when it’s nothing of the sort?

It’s a variation of which hand. Guessing which hand compared to heads or tails is the same concept. It’s for reference for those who are unfamiliar with mentalism. Even Alexander makes the same comparison on the tutorial.

I feel like this would have been the ideal set: -Each is half dollar sized with the “yes” and “no” much larger, less emphasis on the image and more on the words -The regular coin has a magnet imbedded to use in a which hand routine

Agree. The project had potential and with the additions you mention, it would have been significantly better. They could have charged £45 for that instead of £34 as well.

I have to agree. I bought it and not too impressed. I will sit in the drawer.

It’s such a shame. The project had real potential. Apparently lots of the coins are defective and darker than they should be. Return it and request a refund.
