I like to think about the Emperors psychic powers like a punch from superman, everybody just kinda accepts he's strong until the 1 time he uses 100% of his power and even the strongest most confidant villain is nearly shitting themselves in fear. Its the best feeling.

The Emps is such a tragic character. He did all sorts of bad shit and was so naive about other stuff and should have been more honest with his sons, but I still think he meant well. Of course, if he had coopted the SQUATS it would have been easier. Space Dwarves are badass.

Its not how it's meant to be and they know it , chaos plays at their ambitions and weak wills and like horus who justified his madness with "freeing the galaxy "and dethroning a traitor emperor and yet gleefully betrayed not just his own morals but many of his loyal sons in istavan and his brothers specifically his bestie sanguinius. It was all nothing but a mad dash at power at the cost of everything even their own souls and sanity . The emperor should have spanked horus with a belt first for his pettiness before erasing him from existence. No wonder Perty pissed off during the siege , he was the only traitor sane enough to see the disturbing hypocrisy and vile corruption on his side . Horus legit started a rebellion coz he believed the emperor sought godhood at the cost of humanity yet he accepted power from chaos to essentially godhood with the goal of destroying the imperium, emperor and humanity , that is 200 tonnes of pure hypocrisy right there .

Thanks for this lore upload! I enjoy comparing ABorder Prince's interpretation of this classic William King story to the reading found on the Fluffenhammer Podcast (April 25, 2017). Both are fantastic interpretations that transport the listener to the epic moment that the Emperor met Horus in final combat. Well done!

Nice reading, I narrated this a few months ago on my channel. I love this story so much, this is my definitive version of the Heresy ! Great to hear another rendition of this classic.

Oddly enough haven't read many horus heresy books that focus on horus, the first three obviously do so but it's been a while, so not sure if this is a dumb idea, but I think it'd be interesting if it's not the emperor that hesitated, but rather Horus. Big E might see his sons as pawns but most of his sons sought his approval. In my headcanon at least, it makes more sense for Horus, when finally faced with killing his father, perhaps upon seeing the chaos warp power kill Loken unbidden, he realises he was always a pawn, not under the control of the emperor, but chaos. This momentary break from the madness that took him since Davin is all the time the emperor needs to blast him to smithereens

I doubt it , he was deluded and corrupted beyond reason , he murdered sanguinius his best bro and hated the emperor for allegedly seeking godhood yet he called himself a god . The hypocrisy was obvious but he was too immersed in his ambitions to see it

@@licensed_beheader quite probable, but I still like the idea of Horus having a moment of clarity. Perhaps the chaos gods abandon their influence purposefully, in order to bring this moment of hesitation that allowed the emperor to slay Horus. As I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned that the chaos gods didn't want the heresy to be an absolute victory, they wanted the imperium to slowly burn for millenia

Rogal Dorn being busy, hasn't had his hair touched up in awhile. He was jealous of Fulgrim's. But instead he went with gold.

I hate how they have changed the emperor to seeing his primarchs as tools instead of sons. As I always thought the emperor could never make strong bonds with mortals as they died so easily and quickly yet by using his own genes as a template he created his own sons, beings he loved and could depend on that would be immortal like him. That is what made the final battle so tragic because everyone knew the emperor could 1 shot Horus when he walked into the room, instead he tried his best to understand why? Why? Horus betrayed him why, he turned against the imperial dream. why Horus was such a cock. And in the end he knew what he had to do, use his full power to kill him even though he really didn’t want too. I don’t know how the new lore plans to make the final battle but I don’t think it will have the same emotional impact.

I think this was the best audiomini book of warhammer 40k. A little gem. None of the books are even close to this quality

im pretty sure i remember reading in a magazine a long time ago it, one of the reasons the emperor was holding back was because he didn't reveal too much knowledge or power to the chaos gods, giving them an edge or something, and of couse as well as because he didn't want to believe horus fell too far to chaos.

Loken? No! The writers will do something off, I'm sure, but it absolutely makes sense for it to be the "Ollanius Pious" version. The Emperor seeing Horus slaughter a normal man like that would make sense as the Emperor has seen Horus relish in the death of marines, not the populace he was charged with defending. Although, a normal trooper would be unlikely to be in the Emperor's party of marines and custodes to confront the Big Bad himself.

Every time I hear this. I love the empreor. Even after what Horus did, he wanted to save him.

The Terminator was the original in this story, then later retconned to a Custodes. The IG one was a reference in rogue trader I think.

An unsung tragedy of this is the Emperor purging himself of all love and mercy. To save all of humanity, he needed to sacrifice his love for it.

Don't hold your breath, they are really stretching this out. It'll probably be another 8 books in the Siege of Terra, and then another 10 books leading up to the battle with the Emporer and Horus

After three decades of enyoing 40`k, I`m realy astonished by witch level a small B/W drawing and this lore fires up our imagination in those days...

In my head I always like the story of Sanguinius falling right at the end to khorne and the black rage kicks in, he kills Horus and as the emperor sees his fabulous hawk boi still beating the corpse of the arch traitor, the emperor tries to reason with him and bring him back, but to no avail... Sanguinius completely lost to the black rage flings himself at big E (basically the og story but with blood boi instead of Horus) and after being severely wounded the emperor has to put him down I like the guardsman bit a lot and the original story but we all have our own head canons thanks to our boys in the 20th making literally EVERYTHING a lie

I prefer the emperor from the master of mankind. In that he seems focused knowing the herracy must happen to make way for the new future. In this he comes over as just a powerful man who gets lucky.

This battle will know many great names , will have many retelling but on Krieg it name would be Tuesday .

@@ABorderPrince Like all other pawns of Chaos he would have just been a tool for them to spread strife which explains how he was able to "acquire" info to create the Astates, Big E was certainly POSING a threat if schemes clearly laid centuries prior hadn't been put in place like everything leading up to Horus' betrayal. From a Lore perspective also The Emperor's place has always Been as a guiding light on the golden throne having Once been a great figure of old now laid low. He STARTED there from a narrative standpoint so his story was Always going to lead him there thus narratively justifying everything that transpired up to standard 40k. If the Chaos Gods really thought Big E was enough of a threat to them as he is on the Throne they'd have more constantly united against him over the last 10,000 years in my opinion. Instead the Imperium as it is today feeds the Chaos Gods better than if Big E had never tried to subjugate the galaxy for humanity.

Another one back of the net I've enjoyed many of you minds wandering through the times of thirty to forty k. Of course I'd love you to do a story on my chapter the SONS OF VESUVIUS who have Cohorts instead of company's, Centurion's instead of captain Optio's instead of Lieutenant and Tribuni instead of techmarine . One hundred legionnaires who to the unknowing might be called Astartes. Their world of marble and beauty but where are the recruits for such a chapter coming from why a death world know as Pawnee where tribes fight each other as well as bears wolves and the mighty Gor a nightmare of scales which reflect like a pool of oil and once fully grown becomes seventy strides long which only the red wolf packs defeat. The legions Primarch is a deeply kept secret especially from a certain Regent because one of the two unwanted Primarchs who a group of priests kept the seed. Which one was used its unknown but it was believed to be equal to three other Primarchs? In testing they found traits of Dorn, Gulliman and in a unfavourable fight Russ raises his lust of battle in the blood lust has its appeared in the wolves of Fenris. So there planet shows organisation like Gulliman as for the legions fortress is built by the mind of Dorn . In battles when all things seem lost they fight faster more lethal than many of the other primaries forces now fighting for the mortals and the Emperor. Their armour shows on a pauldron of black a white skeleton holding up a blooded gladius or a white skull with the amber coloured eyes that has always appeared no matter what experimental genetics were tried. So every warrior has the amber coloured eyes and when fighting among the Inquisition forces they keep helmets on . That's until they board their Achilles class Cruiser the Herculaneum. Finally the armour a scarlet bodies with black pauldrons finally white arms and legs. Praise the Emperor ,manafactorum Priests , Boarder Prince and Inquisitor Drako Rasheed a personal allie.
