@@hangemhigh3578 My theory (pure speculation) is that some Americans saw the beautiful Friesian horses in Europe (breed used by knights and royalty) and wanted to imitate their natural high gait with their own local American breeds using unnatural means.
@rccyberwarrior2267
Ай бұрын
@@hangemhigh3578 From wikipedia: "Saddle seat riding began as a distinct style within the broader group of English riding disciplines developed in the United States. The first source was the Plantation tradition of the American South, where smooth-moving, high-stepping horses were used by plantation owners and overseers to travel across the fields. The horses had to be smooth riding and comfortable enough for hours of riding while overseeing the plantation, but the owners also preferred an impressive, high-stepping horse for riding in town. A second influence was European: a flatter English show saddle was developed from the tradition of riders who would often show off their flashiest, highest-stepping horses by riding them in city parks on Sundays. Hence, the term "park horse" is still used today to describe competitions in which the action of the horse is of paramount importance. In the northern United States, showing high-stepping horses in a flat park-style saddle at fairs was one way breeders would promote their horses." And: "Equitation: Saddle seat is a style of English riding that differs considerably from other styles such as hunt seat and dressage. To the casual observer the rider sits well back in the saddle, carrying his or her hands higher than in other disciplines. Riders in equitation classes are penalized for leaning forward to any significant degree. However, like any other riding discipline, the position of the rider reflects the desired position of the horse. The rider must make the riding look effortless, and stay still and well-formed on the horse, sitting upright, with shoulders back and posting that is graceful and quiet. In saddle seat, high-stepping gaits are required of the horses shown, and the rider's position, behind the center of balance of the animal, allows the riding aids to be used to encourage front leg action in the horse."

The woman who hit 2 of you ladies intensely with that crop in your faces, should have asualt charges brought against her. That is not right. Its people like her that think their above everyone else, and that they can do anything they like to their horses because they own the horse and hugh egos for the competition. The gait is natural, the weights and soring is not. When allowed to do their natural gait. A Tennessee Walking Horse is comfortable and like sitting in a well loved rocking chair. I had the absolute pleasure of riding one at my first job, working at a training stable. I got to see some beautiful horses. Got to learn how to train and gentle some of the most scared and abused horses into best friends and good companions. We did a lot of good work, but sadly like many good works, it lost money and support. I broke my hand and by the time I could get back to it, the stable had had to shut down and got sold.

the walk of the horse under the woman who attacked with the whip... How they can even think it's beautiful to start with... Tennessee horses have a wonderful natural walk, they don't need all these stuff. The ego of some people who don't want to understand what they are doing is wrong, I swear ... "ItS tRaDiTiOn" doesn't mean it's right... lot of countries now forbid the cut of the ears and tails for dogs, it's time states see horses as something else than just tools

Big Lick is inhumane and how people can’t see it, I can’t imagine. There is NOTHING natural or normal about how these poor horses are forced to move. Watch their rear ends from the back - you can see the abnormal movement of their hips. Don’t call yourselves horse lovers.

Big Lick should go viral, so people all over the world can protest this horrible abuse. I’m 78 and I just recently heard about this through Horse Plus, thank you for making people aware of what these precious horses have to endure. This should be recorded showing what these horses have to go through from training to show time and hopefully you can get a major News Channel to play it for everyone to see the amount of abuse these horses go through. 😢
So cool watching Dr Lydia and Dr Gina teaching the Girl Scouts the horse anatomy.
That big black draft with shivers is -gorgeous-. Poor guy.

Lydia and Gina working together, and with skilled vet techs and helpers - invaluable! Tawnee and Jason, you’re true visionaries, skilled and experienced in so many important ways - what excellent, consistent leadership you display. I marvel at the many ingenious systems, programs, etc you’ve implemented over the years. I can’t think of any rescue in the US or really anywhere that has the depth and breadth that your organization has developed. It’s truly remarkable. Your whole staff are so hard working, talented, and dedicated. And to see the rescue network you’re building - absolutely game changing for the world of horse rescue and horse welfare. Your media team’s content just gets better and better at “telling the stories”. WELL DONE, Horse Plus team!!!

My work horse growing up on a ranch in Montana was a Tennessee walker. Probably the smartest horse on the ranch. He taught me how to drive cattle. The best horse I've ever known. Only problem was that he changed his gate about every ten strides. I was so soar. But worth it. So many amazing memories with that horse.

I had to step out of the room while Sonnet's adoption was going on & when I got back all I heard was Korey saying, "...Dr. Lydia, she's just a little bit out of shape so she needs to build up some muscles on her back & topline..." and I thought, well that's a little rude to talk about Dr. Lydia that way! Look,at the KZread video “walking on broken glass” . It shows the 1999 annual celebration. Only guy forced the TWH association to allow him to enter the grand championship show wieh his horse flat shod, meaning no soring, no stacks and no chains. The natural gait of the Tennessee Walking horse is so beautiful! And when you compare to the grotesque gyrations of the horses doing the big lick , the difference is shocking and just disgusting. The gross abnormality of the big lick gait is appalling. And we all know the damage that’s being done to these poor horses bodies and minds. . If you watch this video, pay attention to the horses with stacks at the canter …..compared to the horse that’s flat shod . I’m not going to describe the flat shod horse, it will be obvious once you see all the horses in the ring. Also pay attention to the close ups of the big lick horses in this video. Any horse person can plainly see the horses are scared and in pain. There should be a photo cut from the video , of just these horses faces and that photo enlarged and made onto an anti big lick poster . To show the pain and suffering these horses experience, just in the show ring for a short time…… to make people think about what the horses experience the rest of the time. Also, read about the owner and breeder of that flat shod horse .
How amazing that Sulihuet has hope to see again, thanks to her new guardian! I would love to see how that works out.
Thank you for demonstrating so religiously against Big Lick. We have owned four TWH - they are the most personable horses and want to please their owners. FYI the horse in my profile is a TWH. RIP Flash (Midnight's Thunder Shower)

TY USDA but mostly THANK YOU TAWNEE! So well done, you never cease to amaze.
An idea for the group of visiting shelter folk.... Assemble a bunch of profiles of past equines. Horses, donkeys, hinneys and mules. Use real profiles! Mariale was an owner surrender Pokey was purchased at auction Stevie was a seizure by law enforcement Include their ages, their condition, problems, positives, temperament and training....but do it in stages, the way you find out in evaluation. Finish up with what happened to each critter....like last act of kindness, transferred, adopted or even just still waiting Got 30 people coming? Have 60 some-odd capsules prepared and each attendee draws just one
I truly pray that righteousness will prevail and this madness stopped…how disgusting, I hope these Freaks know that a world wide audience is watching what happens to these beautiful Horses in the Land of the so called Leaders of the Free World…Greetings from Germany
