What a great video. I didn’t think he was actually going to do anything as he seemed so stubborn. Oh me of little faith. Fantastic and as for trailer loading, wow. Brilliant. Tanja, you could do with a small fold up stool to take with you plus I would suggest stick on heat pads. Take it from someone with a mashed up spine, these are a treat

Many of these problems start small, then slowly get worse. I really wish that people would notice these things earlier and get good help/retraining sooner.

Absolutely brilliant! I've learned so much from your videos. Too bad I don't have a horse anymore. I really miss them. Bought my first horse in 1967 and sold my last horse in 2012.

What a stunning old horse. The way he carries himself in the trot is fabulous. Has he done lots of dressage, I wonder? I bet he would make a lovely horse to hunt. He looks like he would conserve energy and not get excited, but just switch off whilst standing around. A real gem who appeared to be soured and disinterested in his lot in life. Hopefully, things will pick up with the relationship now Steve, (the relationship guru) has given them a therapy session !

Ceaser looked like he had been in shock after his fall and had become depressed and lost himself , after Steves intervention and success he looked like his self believe and confidence in the world had come back and his depression had lifted . He’s now a happy confident boy ready to resume his partnership with Cath again😊love it

My family gave me a horse when I was 12. It was a 2 year old wild horse. She was an exceptional horse. 4H helped my training and I read hundreds of books. Trailering had its difficulties I would have loved your methods back then. Since then 50 years ago and many horses later, I have great loading horses. When I saw the owners joy in seeing her horse in the trailer I teared up.

Another successful day Steve, if l was that lady I would change Cesear’s name to Sir Poopalot lol, it’s lovely to see her reaction watching her horse load on to the horse box, tfs x Julie

What an amazing video. Caesar was with you the whole time. Great horsemanship. All that footwork, it’s amazing how that all works, then the lowering of Caesar’s head, what a lovely feeling that must be for a horse once they have been shown - it’s absolutely marvelous. It really clicked for Caesar and he got his confidence back. A magnificent animal. You have basically saved him Steve - so much can go wrong so easily, then both sides being unsure and shakey . Confidence is fastly lost. You do amazing work, you really do. I love watching. I don‘t even own a horse. Used to ride a bit as I was younger. Would love to have one - they and cats are my absolute everything. I am too old, perhaps in my next life! I just Hope I would remember all I have learned from your videos lol. I really have learnt so much - goodness I would love to put it to practice lol. Hope Tanya’s back is ok again - do you ask each time when you book rooms for a firm mistress? I have the same problem- when the back is ok, the neck or head isn’t- it’s difficult indeed. Thanks to the both of you for all you do. We are so fortunate to have you - you are the best! VERY INSPIRING! This was actually very cool video to have a difficult horse not a mean horse that's just a horse with problem that rightfully scared the owner. 42:05 That was very interesting seeing how you kept the lead and slowed him down! I also like how you remind us that waving the flag in neutral when you’re not directing the horse, in between your directing, is important so the horse gets to pay more attention to what you are doing than what the flag is doing. It is a shame that your gentle techniques are not taught at every pony club and riding school when young people first get involved with horses. That would prevent so many of these problems from starting in the first place if young horse lovers knew how to communicate effectively with their horses. I always look forward to watching your videos. They are Always informative and show how to get the best partnership between the horse and their owner using gentle education. Tanya thanks for all your hard work taking such great videos come rain or sunshine, it's always lovely to hear your voice. Hope your back is giving you less pain. ❤🐴🐎

I wish I had seen your loading videos about 60 years ago. My horse would nearly faint or fight for his life if we even came near a trailer. If we managed to get his front feet just on the ramp, he would bring his hind feet up and freeze, like a circus bear balancing on a ball. That was all the farther he would go. The very last time I trailered him, he went on fairly well. He was retired and put out to pasture about 2 hours away. Unfortunately, he became very ill. They brought him back north to the university veterinary hospital, where he was eventually euthanized. I have always wondered how they got him into the trailer for his final trip. They surely did not have your extraordinary technique back then. Thank you for your kind, understanding, magical touch. ❤

I'm surprised Tanya doesn't have a canvas tote to carry and protect her pillow when traveling. My luck with trying to carry everything and pull a bag would mean the pillow would find its way to plop on the ground. I have a few canvas bags that either zip up or have a flap over to protect from a light rain or dust. The shoulder strap keeps my hands free for other stuff and an inside or outside pocket on the bag fits random other things.

As much as I try to have a good look at Ben Atkinson 💪, I always get distracted by the horses ❤🐴 😀

Who would have thought a horse with that outlook could move so beautifully. Helping the people is just as rewarding as solving glitch with a horse.

Another awesome video!! Steve, you make it look so simple and seamless, but like anyone who's worked with horses would realize, what you accomplish with these troubled horses is simply amazing! Also, your methods are absolutely great and a pleasure to watch!!!

Wonderful, as usual. I hear more & more riders at our pony club & adult riding club mentioning your fantastic work here in Melbourne Australia & I always agree with them Steve. You've caught on here! x Linda.

That horse got his confidence back. He could look at his world in a different light. Quite a change for that horse. Good job! His ears went up; he was a different horse. Nice to see that change. He had faced his fear. His feet loosened up. His whole body loosened up. He felt happy! I think he actually realized that he was free of his fear. He is a handsome horse when he moves freely and loosely.

The patient process and methodical working with the FEET is so interesting and hypnotizing for the horse and ME🤣🤣🤣‼️💜💜💜‼️

You are a treasure to observe at work with your skills, experience, grace, and determination to help every horse be its best self; you are HAWSOM!!!

Hi Steve, I have been training horses for 45 years. Started with the old professor berry books which I trained from when I was a teenager. Much of the techniques worked well for bad habits. One in particular I had to resort to on one of my horses that refused to load at a show for whatever reason was a flank rope. Which I ran between the front legs and through the ring of the halter which prevents them rearing and flipping over it just pulls them back down on their feet. They can and may flail but usually give in quickly. We were able to get my horse to load after 3 hours after the show was over using the other NH methods which he was in no way going on for ever reason. Needless to say I happened to have this rope in the trailer with me as he was giving us some trouble loading on the way to the show. But got him on while I had someone tapping him while we ran the rope through the trailer tie ring inside the trailer he flailed his head from side to side while trying to pull back but then just leaped on the trailer. Once in he was in he was j 21:20 ust fine and started eating hay like nothing happened. So we came home parked the trailer in the indoor. Then the next day I made am attempt to load him by just showing him the the trailer but he said no. So I didn't waste any time put the flank rope on had a friend in the trailer who when I asked him to hold pressure on the rope when I told him. So I asked him to load up and he said no so I said ok put on the pressure so he did and he resisted some but then jumped on. So I backed him out asked again and he hesitated a little so i said ok now and he put on the pressure and he jumped on. So I unloaded him again and asked him to load up and he went on, on his own. So I removed the flank rope and asked him to load up and he did. Then I changed from a short 12' rope to a 24' rope lounged him a few rounds the pointed to the trailer while I was standing on the left abot 10' from the trailer and he went in. I kept using a longer rope standing further away just using my hand signal to load up which he did. So on day 2, I took the rope off gave the same signal to send him in from about 30 ft 38:09 from the trailer and he went running onto the trailer. Then we parked the trailer outside and I loaded him from inside of the isle to the trailer from a chair. He went right on. I did video the entire thing and made a shots video on my youtube channel. So his whole deal was disrespect in my opinion. Because we never had any issues with him about loading before. The only change was there was a lot of kids handling him and riding him. So I'm thinking he learned to say no from that. Then he just decided to challenge us all.

That was beautiful. It helped both Kathy and Ceasar. Both of them look so much more relaxed and confident.

Couldn't have been more "WOW"ed by this video. I'm always impressed by your expertise, technique and finesse but I had just taken my newly-turned-five mustang/thoroughbred cross mare on her first real trail ride after having had to load her by myself, thinking that the ride wasn't going to happen. All I could think to do when she kept planting with two feet in and two feet out was to back her up about 12 feet and start over again and again. That and a bucket of grain finally worked and we had a successful ride except for an angry buck when four riders crossed our path and she decided she would rather be with them. Thank you, Steve, for sharing your genius horsemanship!

What a difference in Caesar once his spirit and trust lifted and he knew how to relax himself! (Hilarious how quickly he picked up head down and used it when he needed it!) Steve, wonderful work on a sticky, difficult problem. I think my favorite scene was seeing an elated Katherine lead Caesar, relaxed, ears forward, tail up and happy, back to his stall. (I do wish she was much looser on his head with the lead, but I know that will come) Congratulations all! ❤️🐎

I just love watching you work with the horses.
