I asked Raleigh Link to view Steve’s horse training methods in the hopes that some of her 333k viewers would see it and subscribe to your channel. She usually sees really awful trainers. I wanted her to see one of the bestI KNEW that she would say good things about you, Steve. Your training methods are so awesome. We need more people watching! Hope this is helpful.

Loved watching this 4yo really connect and focus. Brilliant! Btw, Raleigh Link assessed one of your videos (trailering) and gave Steve Young Horsemanship an A+. With bonus points for opposing some cruelty in horse practices in Spain. Raleigh reviews trainers based on viewer requests and you had many, mine included. She’s pretty feisty so that’s a large compliment. Her only complaint was you didn’t have enough followers compared to some trainers that she finds very untalented! Anyway, all of the commenters were so happy with the review.

"You're only riding what you're leading." Brilliant & true. A really informative flagging/groundwork video! A lot of subtle communication here. I once had a 'experienced' horse person correct my groundwork by saying, "you DON"T want BOTH eyes on you." (Being green myself I thought, but how can you communicate effectively if you don't have a horse's attention?) Imagine my surprise when Steve teaches the opposite again & again with groundwork, explaining why it's important. Disinformation is dangerous. Steve's method is an amazing education.

It's hard for many people to understand that you are ALWAYS training your horse. Every moment you are with your horse, you are training. I had one that reared. I taught her to passage, piaffe and levade, both in hand and under saddle. Totally fixed that rearing! Keep them busy doing what you want, whatever that may be, to the point where they don't have time to think of other things. My daughter likes to train them to respond to her body language on the ground. Following, turning, pick up hooves with just a tap, or word. It makes such a difference! Great work on your part. Knowing how he's bred can be very important if you have that knowledge to pull from. I used to train Arabians. By looking at the pedigree I know if the horse was likely to rear, buck, bolt, etc. Now, this was many years ago in Texas. I don't know the new lines, since I've been out of it.

My horse did so much that I asked for. And then there's the times that I stumbled or fell. And my dear equine friend would check on me with gentle concern. He would really follow me anywhere.

He is going to make a great horse! He's going to be beautiful as well. Black western saddle and bridle with silver round design.. he will be a eye's dream 😘❤️. A few years back (23 yrs ago) I bought a three year old quarter horse that we had to load through cattle shoot into trailer. I had four children from age 11 through 16 yrs old. They decided they wanted to help with ground work. By six months time, my 14 year old daughter was able to ride her down highway way bare back. The horse bonded with us all. If you fell off she would dead stop and walk back straight away to you. Quarter horses are very loyal if trained correct. I can't wait for an update on this black beauty!!!

If they all stop talking & making excuses for there behaviour the sooner the horse will be happy. SHUT UP & LISTEN

@@jencoss814 thank you! I know it’s natural tendency to tell someone who understands horses all the problems we’ve had, how hard it’s been, how discouraging and dangerous things got, to tell our war stories so to speak. There’s strong tendency to complain, rant, and unload. I notice Steve only gives that enough time to see what they’re up against, then he moves right on to fixing the situation. Videoing the sessions is probably where the owners really will pay attention to what he teaches so they can implement it.

Example, a horse being pushy, not leading correctly. Maybe it's bc I was taught really well by my trainer but some of what the the owners lack in general knowledge just comes easily and naturally to me. So, my question is, do u feel some people are just more naturally horse people, where it's an instinct how to handle situations?

Mrs. Young, honey, I'd like to ask a big favor: please, please don't talk loudly while filming. In order to hear Steve, when working with the horse, we, usually, have to turn our volume all the way up. Your microphone is obviously close to you and when you talk so loud (I suspect you do it in order for Steve to hear you) it actually hurts our eardrums: literally. I beg of you; please hear our plea. Thank you so much. God bless. PS: You did seem to talk more softly towards the end. Is it possible to turn the volume down on a microphone?

My first horse reared every time I got on him. I didn’t know much about horses and it never even occurred to me to try to “fix” him and I wouldn’t have known how anyway. I just accepted the fact that he was going to rear so I always got on him from the tailgate of our truck while he was reared up. Looking back, I guess I shouldn’t have been so willing to accept such a bad habit, lol.

Hey. Happy Birthday in advance !! Really enjoy your videos and watching you work. It must take a lot, lot, lot of practice to respond in the moment to the horse. I think that is the part that would take me the longest to learn.

Talk quietly when you are close to the mic. It will present better and won't be so loud when we turn the volume up to hear Steve.

Beautiful Palomino, Mr. Ed. I remember watching that show, when I was little. A horse is a horse, of course, of course, And no one can talk to a horse, of course, That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mr. Ed. Great work, Steve!

At aged 11 months my border terrier was chased by a greyhound round a large park. He got back to me with a lot of space between him and the greyhound simply because he did a few rapid changes in direction which slowed down the larger, faster but less agile dog. He thought it was all one big game but th greyhound was deadly serious.

Mine= Tango.....because in the beginning he danced( as in reared). Anyway - thank you all for sharing your work.....and others journeys... I love your way with them...
